Wei Wuxian was sitting at the table with his scriptures and books laid out in front of him. Wangji sat beside him while Wen Qing sat on the other side of him. Lan Xichen sat across of him and Wangji. Yibo, Zhan, and Haikuan were there but they were at the kitchen island working on dinner preparations for later that evening. Wuxian had the talisman that Jin Guangyao had given to Xichen. He sat there for a while just looking over the strokes and how much effort it would take to recreate it himself.
"Just by holding this talisman alone, you would need so much spiritual energy just to activate it. If you use it on more than one person, say he tossed it at Wen Ning and Wen Qing when they appeared here, his energy would be doubled as it would be transferring two people at once. Resentment could have been used as a boost to help power it but what would you rank Jin Guangyao's cultivation level before he died?" Wei Wuxian explained.
"I'd say he was about at the average level," Xichen said, "are you saying this uses more energy than a teleportation talisman?"
"Way more," Wuxian said, "I may be immortal but to send even one person back it may take both Lan Zhan and me to activate this talisman so it doesn't drain me almost dry. If he helped me it would take maybe half of our energy. Then again, we have yet to test out our energy levels as newly ranked immortals."
Lan Xichen nodded and let out a sigh, "I want to get home but if this is going to drain you it's almost not worth it."
"Xiongzhang, we will help you if you want to go home," Wangji said, "it's like Wei Ying said, we just need to know our strengths first to determine how much energy we would use up."
"How much time do you need?" Xichen asked.
Wuxian sighed, "we can try to get this sorted out as soon as possible but this may take a couple weeks to maybe even a month. It's hard to say. I have invented some arrays and talismans but this is very complicated. For me to recreate I need to learn each stroke properly and make sure I don't make any mistakes. That's the last thing I want to happen," he explained.
"Alright," Xichen said, "I will give you time."
Wei Wuxian was taken back. Not long ago it was Lan Xichen who wanted so badly to return home but he was now so calm and even willing to take it easy and wait. It confused Wuxian but he didn't want to say anything. He has had so many problems with Xichen as of late and he doesn't want to cause any more problems. He would love to make friends with Xichen and help him to understand him better for Wangji's sake but he almost just doesn't even have the energy to do so.
Sitting beside his soulmate, Wangji could feel the stress that Wuxian was feeling. Since being immortal, their bond was a lot stronger and Wangji was able to sense more out of Wuxian. Feeling his stress Wangji turned his body to face Wuxian completely. Wuxian slowly lifted his head and looked at Wangji. Lan Wangji grinned as he grabbed Wuxian by the collar and pulled him closer. With a squeal, Wuxian was now facing Wangji completely while being gripped by him. Wuxian was pulled close and warm strong lips latched onto his own.
A moan was suppressed by Wangji's lips. Wangji released Wuxian's collar but wrapped his arms around him. Wangji could feel Wuxian relaxing immediately in his embrace. It was exactly what he wanted to happen. Wangji didn't care about the eyes that were on them both. In fact, it only made him act a bit more fierce. He kissed Wuxian in a way that screamed, MINE.
After a moment of being drowned by Wangji's lips, Wuxian managed to pull away. He was gasping for air and he was seeing spots. Wuxian rested his forehead on into the crook of Wangji's neck. Wangji brought his right hand up and placed it on the back of Wuxian's head. He lightly started to tangle his fingers with Wuxian's hair.
"W-was that..N-necessary?" Wuxian asked.
"Mnn, could feel you were stressed," Wangji replied, "felt it would help calm you down for a bit."
Wuxian took in a deep breath to regather himself. He then lifted his head up and took into Wangji's eyes, "I appreciate it," he said.
Wangji placed a kiss on his forehead, "Mnn."
Wuxian turned his head slightly to see Wen Qing and Lan Xichen looking anywhere but at them. Their faces were flushed red. They just had a small show of public display of affection. Yibo, Zhan, and Haikuan could only shake their heads in amusement.
"Perhaps we should call it here for the time being," Wen Qing said eventually, "it is important that we do this properly so that nothing happens. I say you two take a couple days just to figure out what your immortality spirituality is as. It will give us an idea of how much would be used to activate the Talisman. I want to help you so as I can check the levels. I just need your permission to do so."
"Sure," Wuxian said, "I also need some time to learn the strokes of the talisman. If it actually happens to be too much energy to be used, we will have to think of some solutions. It will be hard to send everyone back if that's the case."
"We will get there," Wen Qing said.
Wuxian nodded and turned his body slightly and leaned against Wangji. Lan Wangji just held him and helped him stay relaxed. He could tell Wuxian is getting himself overwhelmed by this. He wants to help his brother return too but he doesn't want to see his partner work himself dry. Wangji has seen how his partner can get lost in his work and how it can cause him to neglect his health and wellbeing.
For now, Wuxian began to put his scriptures back into a neat pile and put them in his pouch. He then turned back to Wangji and snuggled into him. He wasn't going to waste any opportunity to cuddle and snuggle with Wangji. Wangji tightened his arms around Wuxian as Wuxian slowly relaxed further into him. Soon enough, Wuxian had actually dozed off to sleep being soothed by Wangji.
