__________Wei Wuxian was an excellent cultivator of his generation. He mastered six arts and he has one of the best golden cores of his peers. He was such a happy go-lucky man and was always smiling no matter what the situation was...however, this was not one of those situations where you would see him smiling. He stood there at the edge of the cliff, blood on his chin from coughing up blood from using too much energy playing Chenqing. He wasn't trying to hurt anyone, but suddenly he lost control and everyone was getting hurt now.
He didn't know where he went wrong. Maybe it was the day he stepped foot in Lotus Pier, or maybe it wasn't that at all and fate just wanted to play a cruel joke on someone. Seeing his shijie take a sword that was meant for him was the last straw. He no longer had the will to live or fight. He lost his biological parents when he was only four. By the time he was nine, he was taken in by the Jiang Sect. He became their head disciple but eventually realized that he was nothing but their ward, their shield.
The moment he lost his second family, which was the Jiangs, only leaving his Shijie and Shidi, he broke a bit more. He kept himself together as much as possible but after losing a third family of the Dafan Wens, his sanity dissipated. Now he was standing there, tears falling, his body falling apart after the backlash from destroying the Yin Hu Fu, and the little bit of strength in his hand held onto Chenqing, his one and only companion.
I can die now, I have nothing left, I ruined everything, Jin Ling is an orphan because of me. Jiang Cheng no longer has any family left. I am nothing.
"Wei Ying, come back to me," he heard Lan Wangji say.
He opened his eyes to see Lan Wangji standing there, terrified, "Lan Zhan, I'm so sorry," Wuxian said, and stepped back. Lan Wangji's eyes widened as he launched himself forward and grabbed Wei Wuxian's arm at the last second. Wei Wuxian opened his eyes, shocked to see Lan Zhan again, "Lan Zhan, let me go."
"No," he said.
"It's too late, just let me go, it's okay. I can die in peace," Wuxian told him.
"What about me?" Wangji said, "did you ever love me back at all?"
Yes, he thought, then said, "no."
Lan Wangji felt pain in his heart upon hearing that, but then he realized, what if he said that for him to let go of his hand. He didn't want to believe it and never will. Wei Ying was beyond hurt and had no willpower for himself.
"Wei Wuxian!"
"Jiang Wanyin!" Lan Wangji yelled, "Stop!"
"Go to hell, Murderer!" Jiang Cheng then pierced his sword into the cliff's edge.
Wei Wuxian's eyes widened knowing that if this were to crumble, Wangji would also fall. He yanked his hand away and fell into the darkness below. Lan Wangji passed out only to fall into the darkness and Jiang Cheng did nothing to catch him. Lan Xichen ran to him but he was too late.
"You!" Lan Xichen said, "I get you want to lose your family but why take mine away!"
Jiang Cheng was shocked that Lan Xichen blamed him for Wangji falling from the cliff, "it was his choice, not mine, he also supported that murderer, so he can die too."
"This isn't over, Wanyin, I suggest you keep your eyes open because I will be back for vengeance," Xichen said and stormed off.
* * *
Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan have been best friends since they were kids in diapers. Their families were close, their mothers were like sisters from other misters and they lived next door to each other. The two were inseparable from the moment they met. Xiao Zhan was older by a couple years, but that didn't matter to either of the boys. The two had made plans. Wang Yibo wanted to go into medical school, and Xiao Zhan wanted to study psychology. They ended up in the same university, and Xiao Zhan took medical classes to follow with his psychiatry degree.
After six years of studying medicine together, they ended up working at the Beijing Medical Hospital, Wang Yibo was one of the best doctors of his generation, and Xiao Zhan worked as top psychiatrist within that same hospital. They even shared a house together, though it was only a gift from both families but the two gladly accepted it.
The only thing between the two, they both have feelings for each other but neither of them can confess it. Neither of them knew of the other's feelings but their friendship was still strong so they decided they would take things a day at a time. The two had just got home after a long day at the hospital. Even though they were exhausted, Xiao Zhan still took the liberty of making dinner for the two of them. Since living under the same roof, he has been teaching Yibo to cook but on days like today, he cooked on his own.
"How was your day?" Yibo asked, sitting at the island of the kitchen.
"Not bad, just a normal day. Occasionally talking to teenagers about their lives at home," Zhan said, "had one trauma patient though. They will be okay with time."
"This is the difference between us, you can handle listening to people, I would rather just help fix them," Yibo said.
Zhan chuckled, "We still make a good team though, don't we?"
"Yes we do," Yibo said.
Zhan was going to say something more but was cut off by a loud crashing noise from just outside the house. Zhan turned the stove off and the two ran outside to check what that was. They then saw an unconscious body lying near their garage. The two ran over to check him, he had blood on his face and he looked beat up. Yibo picked him up to take him inside their private Medical room as they sometimes have patients that come directly to them.
"This man is so light," Yibo said, laying him down, "definitely malnourished." He moved the long hair from his face and gasped, "Zhan-Ge do you have a twin?"
Xiao Zhan looked at the man and saw their features were so identical to his own, "not that I know of, I can take a swab of DNA to check. First we need to check him over, see if we need to bring him into the main hospital."
"His pulse is low but it's there," Yibo said.
Just as he was about to open the man's robes, the man's eyes flew open, "Hey!" He said, "Who are you?"
Yibo and Zhan took a step back and showed their hands, "I am Dr. Xiao Zhan and this is Dr. Wang Yibo. We found you unconscious outside our home. We took you in to get you looked at."
"You touched me without permission?" He asked.
"Not inappropriately," Yibo said, "just checking to see if you were alive. You are very malnourished and have a weak pulse. You are covered in blood and we are just wanting to do our job to help you."
"I...I am alive?" The man asked.
"Yes," Xiao Zhan replied.
"But I died, I clearly remember falling...and Lan Zhan...I broke his heart but I did it for a reason...I don't want to be alive!" He said.
"Why?" Xiao Zhan asked, "What happened?"
"You...you do not know me?"
"No," the two said.
"I am Wei Wuxian, also known as the Yiling Patriarch. A demonic cultivator who is said to be a murderer. I watched my shijie take a sword for me, I saw body after body after the massacre of my old home. My adopted parents corpses...I was blamed for it, I lost my real parents when I was four. I am no one," Wei Wuxian explained.
Just as Xiao Zhan was about to speak, they heard, yet again, another loud crash from outside. Yibo said he'd check, only to return a few minutes later with another body and laid them down on the next medical bed beside Wuxian.
"Lan...Lan Zhan?" Wuxian asked.
