The next day, Zhan and Yibo were up pretty early for work. Haikuan said he'd stay with the boys during the day so they had help adjusting to this new life and environment. Plus, Fanxing liked spending time with the two. At around nine in the morning, Haikuan arrived. Wangji and Wuxian were up and had eaten breakfast already, as it was prepared for them before Yibo as Zhan left.

"Can you still feel your golden core?" Wuxian asked Wangji.

"I can," he replied, "is it okay to check your spiritual passageways? If you are to heal, you might still have some resentment in you to keep you from healing properly."

"I suppose," Wuxian said.

Wangji grabbed Wuxian's arm and sent some spiritual energy into Wuxian's wrist. Doing so helped check Wuxian's passageways and spiritual energy levels. His meridians were just about fine and his passage ways were slightly clogged with resentment. The energy Wangji sent through, cleared it. It reached Wuxian's dantian and Wangji immediately felt Wuxian's internal pain. This pain was caused by improper healing of the container that held the golden core.

Since Wuxian was beaten and thrown into the mounds right after the procedure, it would make sense that it didn't heal properly. If his container healed properly, Wangji found that it could be possible for Wuxian to cultivate again. Wangji read theories on dual cultivation and he knew exactly what to do with that knowledge but Wuxian needed to heal first.

"Are you going to keep it to yourself forever that you are still in pain?" Wangji asked.

"What do you mean?" Wuxian asked.

"Your spiritual container is damaged due to improper healing. If it heals properly you could be able to cultivate again with my help," he said.

"Why specifically you?" Wuxian asked.

"Have you heard of dual cultivation?" Wangji asked.

Wuxian's eyes widened, "You mean sharing essence and exchanging spiritual energy through...intimacy?"

"Yes," Wangji said.

"How can I heal my dantian?" Wuxian asked.

"Yibo," Wangji said, "he is a doctor, so we ask him."

Wuxian sighed.

Alright after hearing the conversation, Haikuan went into the kitchen and called Yibo. Yibo said he'd have to schedule a CAT scan to really look into it. So Yibo had a spot in his schedule in an hour where he was free to look into it. With that said, Haikuan said to the two that Yibo has a way to look into it. Haikuan then drove them to the hospital where Yibo and Zhan work and to Yibo's office.

"So, I have a way to really check his internal injuries and if needed, I can help him if I know what's wrong," Yibo said, "are you willing to let me help?"

"Yes," Wuxian said as he just had to give in. He knew that Wangji would want him to try.

Yibo led them to the room for the CAT scan, "this will take pictures of your internal body. I will do one without contrast and then one with contrast. It means that with contrast it will show a fluid in the images where there may be any abnormal issues," Yibo explained, "you just need to lay on this table here and stay still."

"Okay," Wuxian said.

"It looks scary but it is not," Yibo said, "you should be safe."

After getting Wuxian comfortable, everyone stepped out while Yibo ran the first scan. After he was done, he injected Wuxian with the contrast and went back to run the scan again.

"Okay, it will take a couple days for these to come back to me clearly and for me to properly examine them, but until then, I can give you something to help with the pain," Yibo said, "actually, if it is okay, can I do a scan of Wangji for comparison? As you two are from a different world, your bodies may be slightly different from mine."

Wangji nodded and agreed to do the scan. Wangji ended up removing his forehead ribbon from the process but after the scans with and without contrast, Yibo said it will take a few days before the results come in.

"Yibo, if you can, just put this medical bill on our family tab," Haikuan said.

"No worries, it is all taken care of," Yibo said, "Zhan and I have a normal schedule today so we should be home by six."

"Okay, see you soon then," Haikuan said, "ready to go."

"Thank you," Wuxian said.

In his mind he was already wondering how all these advanced technologies were working. He wanted to know so much more about it. For now he let it go and would ask about it later. When they got back to the house, Wuxian snuggled up in Wangji's lap and took a nap. Wangji smiled softly at his soulmate as he held him close.

Haikuan had just put Fanxing down for his nap and returned to see the couple cuddling, "I see you two are quite comfortable," he said.

Wangji nodded and his ears were turning red, "I do not mind him like this...I am not someone who likes physical contact but with him, I am okay."

"Have you always been that way before meeting him?" Haikuan asked.

"After my mother died, yes," Wangji replied, "I never accepted comfort from my brother either. He understood me more than anyone else...as much as I feel like he hurt me, I still miss him."

"How did he hurt you?" Haikuan asked.

"Ever since he got close with a man named Jin Guangyao, he seemed to listen to him more. When I tried to talk to him about Wei Ying and what might be happening with him, he would tell me that I shouldn't get involved. He'd say that Jin Guangyao told him he was dangerous. I met Wei Ying secretly a couple times, he was not dangerous. He just wanted to save people. Those so-called righteous sect leaders who say they stand for justice didn't listen or reason with Wei Ying and just wanted him dead. Blaming him for crimes he didn't commit. My brother was one of those people who stood against him. I didn't want to, so I tried to help when I could," Wangji explained.

That was a lot of resentment that Wangji had towards his brother. He was angry that his brother didn't listen to him. He listened to someone else other than his own blood. He ignored Wangji's pain and pleaded to help Wuxian and Wangji gave up on his brother at that point.

Haikuan could feel Wangji's pain. He would hate himself if he ever betrayed Yibo like that. To Haikuan, his family and his brother were his everything. Haikuan and Yibo were not close with their parents but they were not distant either. They had mutual respect for each other. They let the two pursue their dreams and love who they want. They were just a bit old school and wanted to at least try to find them good partners but in the end it didn't work out.

"When you see him again, try to sit down and tell him how you feel," Haikuan advised, "my Yibo was upset with me about something, I'd want him to tell me so we can fix it and work it out."

Wangji nodded and agreed with Haikuan. If or when he saw his Gege again, he would sit down and talk with him.
