After the merge, Zhan and Yibo have been doing really well. They managed to help Xichen get back home to Cloud Recesses as promised. The two also resigned from their jobs so they could pursue their own lives together. Xiao Zhan spoke with his father and told him that he and Yibo were planning on getting married. They had to fly out to Taiwan as it was the closest country that allowed same security marriages.

They went with Baoshanx Haikuan, and Xiao Zhan's parents, to a courthouse in Taiwan and eloped with the four of them as witnesses. By the end of the day, they were married. After that, Yibo and Zhan went "traveling", or so they told Zhan's parents. Haikuan knew otherwise though. The two had plans to go to Baoshan's mountain with her along with the Wen siblings and A'Yuan.

Being in the cultivation world now, the two went by Wangji and Wuxian. They dropped off the Wens at the mountain and decided to take a risk and visit Cloud Recesses. Though Wuxian was nervous about it, Wangji wanted to see his uncle once. They teleport the courtyard of Cloud Recesses after they dress in hanfu robes. Wangji isn't in his Gusu sect robes anymore and isn't wearing the sacred ribbon. He did have on light colored robes so that much hasn't changed. Wuxian had on black robes as it was his sacred color. Wangji always thought he looked good in black.

"Perhaps I should try black robes at some point," Wangji suggested.

Wuxian smiled, "I think you'd look good in them," he said, "we can give it a try if you want."

Wangji nodded, "thank you for coming with me. I know this isn't easy for you."

"I wouldn't want you to go alone. Not after all we have been through. We are also married now. I go where you go," Wuxian told him.

"And I go where you go," Wangji said in return.

"Let's go see your Shufu before someone tries to skewer me," Wuxian said.

"I won't let anyone hurt you," Wangji told him.

"I know," Wuxian said as he took Wangji's hand and was led to the Orchid room. Inside Lan Xichen was there hugging Lan Qiren. Lan Qiren looked so happy to see his nephew back home. Wangji hoped that he would understand that he would visit but he isn't stay.

"Shufu," Wangji said as he entered the room.

"Wangji," Lan Qiren said and pulled him into a hug, "I am glad to see you are alive."

"I am very much alive," Wangji said, "I missed you."

"And I missed you," Lan Qiren said before pulling away from the hug, "Xichen was just telling me of your choice not to stay."

"Cloud Recesses will always have a place in my heart, but now my home is wherever Wei Ying is. I am sure that you have a lot of questions," Wangji explained.

Lan Qiren sighed, "I do, and I am supportive of your decision. Being away for so long, things can change. The world here has also changed and the truths that came out while you were away were very heartbreaking," he said and turned to Wuxian, "I am sorry for your loss."

Wuxian cleared his throat and nodded, "I am getting better day by day, even though the pain will probably always remain. I have lost so much but I have also gained something special. I promise to protect Lan Zhan and love him with everything I have."

"I know you will," Lan Qiren said, "do you two mind staying to talk for a bit. I would like to hear about your journey with Xichen?"

"Of course," Wuxian said and looked at Wangji, "are you okay with that?"

"I am," Wangji said.

The four sat together and brewed some tea, "it's been so long since being in this room specifically...I still remember scrolls being thrown at my head," Wuxian said and giggled.
