Chapter 2: Chasing Pavements

Mikha's POV

"Colet, look at this." I caught my best friend's attention and showed her a post from our school's confession page. Hindi na ako nagtaka when Maloi and Sheena started teasing her. After her break up with Keith, wala ng sumunod. I thought she hasn't moved on yet but as I observed her, mas pinili niya lang talaga magfocus sa volleyball at acads.

We're here in the fast food near our school. Nagkayayaan kumain ng dinner after namin mapanuod training ni Colet.

"Nako sayang naman mga nagkakagusto sa'yo! It seems like you already have a crush on someone eh." Maloi teased her again. For sure she's talking about Jhoanna, they had a little interaction earlier when Stacey bumped into Colet and Jhoanna was the one to say sorry. Colet stayed quiet at nagfocus sa pagkain niya. She maybe avoiding the topic but one thing's for sure, like what happened to me, Jhoanna got her attention too.

Part of me says, sana ako nalang 'yong nabangga ni Stacey at sana sa akin nalang nagsorry si Jhoanna.

When we parted ways, naiwan pa si Colet para antayin driver niya. I'm halfway home when I realized na naiwan ko tumbler ko sa theater.

"Kuya, pabalik naman sa school saglit. Nakalimutan ko tumbler ko." I said to my driver respectfully.

 
"Nako ma'am, nakalimutan mo lang ata isama jowa mo." he joked, natawa ako sa banat ni kuya.

 
"Kuya 'yong crush ko nga hindi ako kilala eh." I told him.

"Ah mahirap 'yan, Ma'am." he replied. Tumawa nalang ako bilang sagot.

When we arrived at the school gate, nakita ko ang kaibigan ko a few meters away from Jhoanna. My friend was just staring at her na busy nakatutok sa phone niya. I observed how Colet look at Jhoanna, hindi lamang iyon titig ng isang estranghero kundi titig na parang interesado siyang makilala ang isa. I felt my chest became heavy. Para akong maiiyak sa realization ko. Damn it!

"Ah kuya, nasa bag lang pala tumbler ko. Uwi na po tayo." I told my driver after minutes of just observing them.

I went home with a heavy heart, ni hindi ko magawang sumabay sa dinner nila daddy and mommy. My friends are joking around the group chat pero hindi ako nakisabay. Nawalan ako ng gana sa nakita ko pero hindi ko naman masisisi si Colet kung sakaling magkagusto siya kay Jhoanna. She's so dreamy, she's so heather.
