You first met Jeongyeon when she came into the hospital for stitches. She had tripped and busted her knee open catching a waffle that had fallen from the table beside them. She had gone out to eat with the other members after a long shoot and the kid sitting beside them almost dropped their food. All it would have taken would have been Jeongyeon leaning down to grab the waffle in time, but she moved in such an awkward way that her foot caught on the chair leg, putting all the pressure on her knee.
Jeongyeon limped herself to the hospital despite the rest of the girls' protests. She sat in the waiting room after checking in, a towel on her knee to soak up the blood. Once she was called back, a nurse saw her for a second, cleaning up her bloody knee before you came in.
You had been in family medicine for almost five years, graduating from Korea University. Originally you wanted to become an idol, but your parents were strongly against it. Ultimately you decided on medicine and you've been satisfied ever since.
"Miss Yoo, I'm Dr. Y/L/N. I heard you took a spill at dinner trying to rescue some food." You smiled and slipped on a pair of gloves after washing your hands. You picked up the needle and suture, rolling over to where Jeongyeon was sitting.
Jeongyeon let out a nervous laugh, carefully watching you as you began to stitch up her knee. She winced a bit in pain, looking up at the ceiling when you looked up at her. She was tense, not wanting to admit how scared she was of going to the doctor's and of needles.
You sensed her uncomfortableness so you started up a small conversation. "So, Miss Yoo, how is Twice's comeback going?"
"You can just call me Jeongyeon." She flashed you a small smile and looked down at you as you nodded, continuing to stitch her knee. "It's going well. Exhausting but we're enjoying it. I think that More & More is a really good song and I know that Once loves it."
You finished stitching her knee, wiping it once again with disinfectant before standing up. As you walked her out to the waiting room, you kept talking to her, oddly wanting to talk to her more despite your extremely brief interaction.
Before you made it out into the waiting room again, you quickly jotted your personal number on the back of your card. Usually you wouldn't be freely giving it away, but she didn't seem like the kind of girl that would give your number out to any random person on the street. "If you ever need a quick stitch or just some medical advice, you can give me a call." Jeongyeon shyly thanked you and bowed, heading out to pay her bill.
Jeongyeon called you first only a week later, wanting to know if the almost week and a half old Chinese takeout was going to kill her. When you told her no but explained she may not want to do it again, you ended up talking on the phone for at least an hour and a half.
The next call was about Sana's paper cut, which, admittedly, Jeongyeon knew wasn't ever a big deal. She just wanted another excuse to talk to you. As you spoke again for at least an hour, you let out a laugh. "Did you call me again just to talk to me? Because I know that you know a paper cut isn't life threatening unless your swimming in bacteria."
"I-uh. Maybe." Jeongyeon nervously scratched the nape of her neck, looking down at her shoes. She had stopped at the 7/11 by the JYP building for a late snack. "Hey would you maybe want to go for a walk? I know it's late and you're probably at the hospital or something, but..." She trailed off, not wanting to face rejection from you.
"I'm not on call tonight. I'd love to. Text me your location and I'll meet you there." You smiled over the phone and quickly slipped a pair of shoes on, grabbing your jacket and keys before heading out the door.

It was cool out and although you were a pretty smart person, you had forgotten to grab a jacket on your way out of the house. You tried to pull yourself together and brave the slight chill in the air, making your way towards the park Jeongyeon wanted to meet at. It was a beautiful night. Despite the the amount of light the city gave off, there were still a few stars shining in the sky.
You entered the park and squinted, seeing someone sitting by themselves. As you walked closer, you realized that it was Jeongyeon. Your heart started to speed up a little as you got closer and closer.
"Hey, do I know you?" You playfully asked this as you sat down beside Jeongyeon, causing the girl to let out a laugh. That was definitely a sound you could get used to hearing.
"Y/N! Glad you could make it." Jeongyeon smiled and scooted over a little. There was plenty of room on the bench but she didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable.
You eased your way into a comfortable conversation, sharing the snacks that Jeongyeon had bought that night. It was nice getting to know Yoo Jeongyeon and not just Jeongyeon of Twice. As she spoke and as the night went on, you realized just how kind and caring of a person she is. It only made your heart beat faster and your head a little dizzy.
"Thank you for coming out so late to talk with me again. It can be a little hard to do things during the day since fans are always around." Jeongyeon let out a nervous laugh and looked down at the half eaten ice cream bar in her hand. "Thank you for also not treating me differently. You talk to me like I'm a real person."
"Of course. Idols are real people too and even Yoo Jeongyeon of Twice is no different. I uh kind of like seeing just Yoo Jeongyeon though. I like this side of you." You shyly admitted this and looked up, hoping that the darkness of the night would protect you from Jeongyeon noticing how red you were getting.
It grew quiet but it was a comfortable silence. Jeongyeon slowly made it through the rest of her ice cream bar and you stole a few glances at her every few minutes. Nights like this were rare since you were on call most of the year. It was nice to just sit and enjoy time with someone else.
"Would you maybe want to do something like this again sometime?" Jeongyeon broke the comfortable silence and turned to look at you, nervously spinning the ice cream stick between her fingers. "Well actually what I mean is... would you want to go on a date with me?"
This took your off guard. Not only was Jeongyeon asking you out on a date, but she also looked nervous. The Jeongyeon you had just spent the last hour and a half with was flirty and confident. The Jeongyeon you had seen every once in a while perform on TV with Twice was bold and commanding with her stage presence. The Jeongyeon that was nervously looking at you now though was shy and quiet. It wasn't something bad though. It was endearing.
"I would love that." You smiled and laughed when Jeongyeon let out a very visible sigh of relief. As you settled back into the comfortable silence again, you shivered a bit, bringing you arms up to hug yourself. Jeongyeon noticed this and quickly took her jacket off, draping it over your shoulders. You were about to protest when she shook her head and wrapped her arm around you.
You felt your whole body heat up instantly, your mind going blank for a few seconds. "What happened to the shy Yoo Jeongyeon that just asked me out on a date?" You gave her a shy smile and gently leaned into her.
"Well this very confident and cool Yoo Jeongyeon noticed that you were cold, so I did what any caring woman would do."
You playfully rolled your eyes at this and shook your head, turning your attention back to the park. If your real date was going to be anything like this with Jeongyeon, you were more than happy to go on just one more.
Just a short little Jeongyeon one shot since I love her a lot. I hope you're enjoying reading my work and as always if you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know! I always love writing what you guys want. Also, since this was such a short one there may be another little surprise coming your way this week so keep an eye out! ;)
