45. Scandal (Nayeon)

"Hey uh unnie... have you seen the news lately?" Tzuyu was sitting on one of the couches in the practice room, looking through social media when Nayeon walked in. Unlike the maknae, Nayeon was barely awake. She'd never understand how Tzuyu was so alive and ready to go so quickly in the mornings.

Nayeon turned to Tzuyu, confusion and remnants of sleep evident on her face. She trudged over to the youngest and yawned, sitting down beside her. "No. I just woke up 30 minutes ago so I didn't have time to check my phone. Why?"

Tzuyu gave Nayeon a nervous smile and scrolled up to the most recent Instagram post on her feed, hesitantly handing her phone to Nayeon. "You gotta remember though, unnie, this is coming from a Netizen news source so there's no way it's true at all and-"

The second Tzuyu handed Nayeon the phone, her words fell on deaf ears. Nayeon's eyes quickly skimmed over the title of the news screenshot and froze. Never in her 27 years of life did she think she'd be the target of such a scandal quite like this.

"I would like to thank my company, my manager, my family, and especially my fans. I owe it to all of you guys that I'm on this stage right now and I promise I'll be working hard on my next comeback. Thank you for my first win!" You waved to the crowd and danced along to your title track, watching as the other artists and groups walked off the stage.

Your record label scouted you out only a year ago but thanks to a near angelic voice and pretty damn good visuals, your rise to fame was fast. Soon after the release of your first single and first mini album, you were being invited to interviews, shows, and music festivals all over South Korea. There wasn't a person who didn't know the name Y/N in the country.

As you finished the song, you recognized a few somewhat familiar faces in the crowd. It was no secret that Twice was one of if not the most popular girl group in the world. They were your seniors but the few times you were able to interact with them, they were nothing but kind to you. You waved to them and made a few hearts, smiling when they waved back.

You thanked the crowd again before you walked off the stage, adrenaline rushing through you. You hugged your manager and handed him the trophy, taking off the mic that was taped to your cheek.

"Congrats again, Y/N!" Your manager patted you on the back and walked down the hall to your green room to finish packing your things before you went home for the night. "Want to go out and get a few drinks to celebrate?"

"Thank you for the invite, but I promised my parents before I debuted that I'd get dinner with them before anyone." You smiled and let out a small laugh, absentmindedly opening one of the green room doors. When you were met by a few surprised screams from female voices, you didn't even bother looking to see who it was before you slammed the door shut. You groaned and smacked yourself in the forehead.

"Did you mean to open Twice's door?" Your manager laughed and teased you, guiding you to the correct door. You laid down on the couch, face first into one of the throw pillows.

"Yes. I obviously meant to embarrass myself and all of Twice by opening their door." You lifted your head up from the cushion and rolled your eyes, shaking your head. "I'm just going to blame it on the adrenaline from winning."
