"Who are you?" Jake asked the masked man who was wearing a long cloak and was standing in front of him. Without replying anything, he just ran away from there. Jake was about to chase him but Claire stopped him. "Don't waste your time on him." She said and pulled him back. "But princess-" He was cut off in the middle. "It's an order." She said and he nodded.
They both went back to where the others were. "Show me the painting you made!" Ray exclaimed and went to her. "Ok ok calm down down a bit." She said and showed them her painting. "It's beautiful!" Lucy said while gazing at it with sparkling eyes. "Thank you" Claire smiled at her.
"I guess we should go back now, it is getting late. We have to look after the preparations for the ball too." Rose said and they agreed. While going back to the castle, Ray and Claire were joking around each other and Lucy and Rose were discussing something related to the ball party.
"I'm so hungry now." Claire said while getting off her horse. "Let's go and eat something." Rose said and they all went inside. As they went in the dining room they saw their fathers sitting there talking about something. All four of them bowed to them and took their seats.
The maids came and served their meal. "Have you decided on your dress for the ball?" Lucy asked Rose but she nodded as a no. "I am confused." She said. "Don't worry, let me help you after lunch." Lucy said to her. "I wanna help too." Claire said in between. "Ok." Lucy replied and they all continued eating their food in silence.
After finishing their lunch, all three princesses gathered inside Rose's room and started looking around her whole closet. "All these dresses are light-shaded. Don't you wear any bold colors?" Lucy asked her. "I just don't feel like it." Rose replied while scratching the back of her head. "Come with me." Lucy took her to the royal boutique with her.
"Now select the best one for yourself and make sure to select a bold color. It will make you shine out from the crowd." Lucy said and sat beside her. After spending a good twenty minutes, Rose finally selected a bright dark green colored dress for herself. It had off-shoulder sleeves and a shining jewel waist belt. "It's perfect." Lucy said while looking at that dress. "We want it ready by tomorrow." Rose said to the owner and she nodded at them.
"Finally, the dress part is done. Now for the accessories--" Lucy was cut in the middle by Rose. "I will wear my mom's Emerald necklace." Rose said and Lucy agreed with her. "It will look perfect with your dress." Lucy said and they both went back to the castle.
Just as they stepped inside they were greeted by a furious Claire who was standing at the door with Ray. "You were supposed to take me with you too!!" She angrily marched towards them both. "Calm down." Ray tried to stop her from behind. "Shut up Ray! These two never fulfill their promise!" She said and went back inside.
"I guess we made her upset." Rose said and followed her. Lucy and Ray were also about to come but Rose stopped them. "I will handle her." She said and went to Claire's room.
She knocked on the door but she did not get any reply. "Claire please open the door." She said softly but still no reply. "I'm sorry, please open the door." Rose said and knocked it a few more times. She was about to give up and go from there but she heard the door open. "Come in." She heard Claire from inside and went there.
"I'm sorry, we forgot that you also wanted to come with us." Rose apologized to her. "No need for that. I guess I am the one who should be sorry for overreacting." Claire said and softly held Rose's hand. They both smiled at each other.
Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door. "Princess Claire, your dress for the ball is ready, please come and take a look at it." One of the maids said from outside. "Coming." Claire went from there.
Rose was also about to go outside when suddenly someone jumped inside from the window. That person was wearing all black and his whole face was covered. He was wearing a long cloak which prevented anyone from seeing his eyes either. Rose was scared and was about to shout when that person signaled her not to.
She got very scared and just stood there but when that person started to come closer, she took Claire's knife which was kept on the table beside her and grabbed it tightly. That person did nothing and went to the painting which Claire made this morning. He took it with him and was about to jump back from the window when he tripped and fell near Rose.
She thought he was about to harm her so she stabbed his hand with that knife. He let out a muffled groan but hearing footsteps, he quickly got up and jumped from the window.
The door slammed revealing Claire along with Jake. They both were shocked to see Rose holding the knife and blood dripping from it. "Rose, are you ok?!!" Claire worriedly asked her. "I-I stabbed h-him." She stuttered and her hand began to tremble. The knife fell from her hands and she gripped Claire's shoulders tightly. "I-I harmed h-him." She began mumbling the same thing over and over again.
Jake went outside the castle to catch that person but he came back after seeing no one around. Claire helped Rose to calm down and made her sit in the bed. "I suspect it was the same person from the morning." Jake said. "How can you be so sure?" Claire asked him. Jake then showed her a piece of cloth that resembled the cloak that the person from the morning was wearing.
"Order all the guards to immediately find that person!" Claire ordered Jake and he quickly went outside to circulate that. Claire turned to Rose a gently held her hand. "Did he harm you?" She asked her. "No, he just stole your painting and went from here." Rose replied. "Don't worry, it was just a painting. Nothing special." Claire calmly said to her and soon after that they both went to sleep.
The morning came and the very first thing Claire did was contact Jake. "Did you find him?" She asked him. "No princess, he was nowhere to be found." Jake replied and Claire nodded. "If you find any unusual person around the kingdom, inform me immediately." She said and Jake nodded at her. "I will." He bowed and went from there.
She went back to her room and saw Rose soundly sleeping there. She did not want to go to her room last night so they both slept together. The whole castle was in a hustle as tomorrow was the day of the royal ball. All of them were very excited and nervous too.
Lucy and Ray also got to know about the incident last night when they saw the guards in a hurry. They wanted to talk to Rose but Claire advised them not to as it would trigger her. They both understood the situation and agreed not to talk about that.
Lucy was now sitting in her room, brushing her hair when her guard, who had been in Sophiesia until now came there. "Took you very long Kylie." Lucy said and turned to her. "I'm sorry princess, I was caught up in some castle works." She bowed to her and Lucy nodded. "It's ok but right now I need your help to select a perfect dress for me for tomorrow." She said and Kylie nodded.
After selecting a brown dress for herself, Lucy and Kylie went into the garden for a walk. The weather was clear and calm. They both were enjoying walking barefoot on the soft grass. They did not notice a snake hidden in the grass approaching them and it was about to crawl on Lucy's leg when Jake came there. "Princess Lucy!" He quickly threw that snake away and protected her.
She was shocked to see such a venomous creature but seeing that Jake protected her, made her calm down immediately. "Thank you." She said to him and he bowed to her. He then turned towards Kylie. "You should be careful, you are here to protect princess. Make sure that you do not repeat this mistake." He said and Kylie nodded feeling embarrassed.
Jake turned to go from there but Lucy's eyes never left him. She wanted to look away but was not able to do so. She felt as if there was a strong force that was attracting her to him. She kept on looking at him till he disappeared from her sight. "Princess." Kylie spoke up making her come out of her thoughts. "Let's go back." She said and both she and Kylie went back inside.
"What is so special about this guy?" Lucy was thinking that one thing that whole night.
