Chapter - 54

Both the troops collided with each other. Sword clashing, screams and bloodlust was visible everywhere. Jake was leading the whole troop and was changing the formations through simple hand movements. "Protect the Queen!" He yelled and ten soldiers surrounded Claire and killed off the enemies around her so that she can advance further. Sky on the other hand took his swords in both the hands and opened them wide.

He rode his horse at a very fast pace slashing everyone who was coming on his way. His face, hands and clothes were all getting stained in blood but he was too busy to care about that. But soon a lot of soldiers from Kevin's troop came there and killed all those ten soldiers surrounding Claire. Hundreds of arrows were fired at her at the same time. 

Before any of those arrows could hit her, Jake came rushing towards her with a huge shield and covered her. The impact was so strong that he had to hold that shield with his both hands. "Run from here, your highness." He groaned and tried to hold it for as long as he could. Claire nodded at him and quickly went away from there.

Jake threw that shield away and took out his bow and arrow and began firing back. He signaled his troop to launch fireball cannons at them and they all followed his orders in an instant. Soon the whole battlefield was filling with screams of pain and agony. The fire was turning some people to corpses and some corpses to ashes at the same time.

Once again Jake saw huge arrows being aimed at Claire. He again rushed towards her and covered her with that shield. But this time the arrows were so sharp that the shield couldn't withstand it and broke it, directly piercing into Jake's stomach. He spat out a lot of blood and tried to take out that arrow but at the same time one more arrow came and hit him in his legs making him fall down. 

"JAKE!!!" Claire yelled and turned her horse towards him. Before she could see where the arrows were coming from, another arrow pierced Jake's body. "D-don't w-waste our efforts, your highness. Make o-our sacrifices c-count." He said and slowly began to collapse on the ground. "Jake!!" She tired to come to him but he held his hand up stopping her. "I was g-glad to be able to p-protect you till my l-last b-breath." He said and completely collapsed on the ground.

Claire was completely broken and her legs began to collapse but she gripped her sword tightly and controlled herself. "I will promise to make your sacrifice count." She said and advanced towards the place from where the arrows were being fired. She got there and saw fifteen people with huge bows firing arrows at them. They all were standing on a fort which was very high.

Claire took out her rope which was hanging on the side of her armor along with her sword case. She used that rope and climbed to the top of that fort very quietly. None of them were not able to notice her presence and she leapt towards them slashing them one by one making their bodies fall down from the fort.

"Why do you have to tail us around everywhere we go?"
"Because that is my duty, princess."
"It pisses me off."

"It doesn't piss me off anymore." She said and sat on the ground while panting heavily. "You did a great job, Jake." She said and bowed in air. "You have my whole gratitude." She said and wiped her tears and went back down to look for Sky.

Jake opened his eyes and saw some of his friends standing there. He sat up and looked all around. "Jake!" James came to him but Jake made a disgusted face and scooted away from him. He got up and went near Julia. He remembered holding her hand just before everything went blank and they all fell into that deep sleep. He also remembered everything from that dream even the smallest things he did and said just like everyone else.

 "Did you also experience that weird blank space with white light around it?" James asked him. "No, why?" He replied but everyone looked at him in shock. "What's the matter? Is something wrong?" He asked them. "We all experienced it." Lucy said to him. 

"It's because he had no one whom he loved that died before him." Max said to them. "What about his parents?" Theo asked. "They died long ago even before he could form any memory about them."

One of the maids came rushing to where Julia was sitting. "We just got a news." She said making Julia and all the other maids look at her. "What is it?" Julia asked her. "Its a bad one...Troop leader Jake...died while protecting the Queen." She said making Julia forget how to breath. "NO!" She yelled. "This...this...." Tears began falling from her eyes and her lips were trembling badly. That old lady came to her and hugged her to calm her down. 

Julia's mind went blank and she just gently pushed her away and ran out from there. She was running out from the castle while everyone was calling her from behind. She did not listen to them. She even escaped the guards and just kept on running. She wanted to escape. Escape from the suffocation she was suddenly feeling. 

She reached the tallest tower of Andria and climbed the stairs all the way to the top. She felt like her legs were going to break from the pain as there were more than a thousand stairs but she just wanted to drive her mind away from that pain in her heart. 

She finally reached the top and went to the very edge. She gripped the railings and screamed as loud as she could. "WHY!? WHY DID IT HAD TO END LIKE THIS!!" She screamed so loud that her vocal chords could damage. She looked in front of her with tears blurring her vision. She was able to see the battlefield clearly and she could see everything that was going on. She fell down on her knees and closed her eyes, crying heavily.

"I'm sorry, I thought you were an intruder."
"It's fine, I should not have appeared out of nowhere."

"Why did you give me this?"
"I saw you standing here all alone so I thought to give this to you."
"You could have given this to someone else."
"I did not have anyone else."
"Thank you, princess."
"I'm glad you liked it!" 

"Jake."  "Get up." "Now smile."

"Why can't I do the same? Why is it so hard for me to smile now. Why?!" She hugged her knees and began sobbing. Her tears were wetting the cloth on her eyes and also her dress but at that moment she just wanted to let it all out.

"Why are you doing this princess? Why are you caring for a mere peasant like me who isn't even a royal or any higher class person?"
"No! I don't want to hear any excuses! Please don't make me do a crime! Please don't me do something which I am not allowed to!"
"What crime are you talking about?"
"The crime to...make me fall in love with you!" 

"Yes...I do...I do love you princess Julia because you are the first person to ever notice my loneliness, the first person to give me comfort without even asking for it. That day when you came to me with that tiara, I felt special, for the first time."
"I know it's wrong because you and I are both of different social class and you wouldn't want a low class person to spend his life with you."

"If you think that social class is a boundary between us then you are wrong!"
"Even if it was a problem, I would have still spent my life with you happily!"
"I love you too...Jake."

"Why didn't you tell me anything before?"
"Did you not trust me enough?"

"It's not like that!"
"Then what was the reason?"

"I did not want you feel pity on me!"
"I do not need to pity you because I know you are emotionally strong and can fight with your emotions all on your own." 

"I'll always love you...even if this world separates us a hundred times, I will still take hundreds of births just to be with you...I love you...Jake." She said and smiled a little just for him.
