Claire reached back to Andria with a blank face. She got off her horse and went inside the castle without even looking anywhere else. She was looking down on the ground the whole time when suddenly she stepped on something fleshy and looked in front of her only to see hundreds of dead bodies spread around her. She could hear a commotion happening but stayed there and just listened to it.
"Princess, we cannot just let a person from the enemy kingdom live with us! It's dangerous!" Jake was trying to convince Julia who was standing with a lady in her forties. "She is going to stay with me! I cannot just leave her like this!" Julia was also trying to convince Sky and Jake. "She could be a spy!" Jake said again. "She is not a spy! She is Maria's mother who was my personal maid and a friend too!" Julia again tried to explain herself.
"King Kevin can go to any extent to get what he wants." Jake said with a huge sigh. "She is like a mother figure to me! Please trust me! Please let her stay." Julia said in a weak voice. "You do not know anything about my past....it's time for me to tell you the truth and what actually happened." Julia said and looked at them both.
"It all happened fifteen years ago when the war just ended. I lost my parents and was left homeless too. When everything was calmed down, a few people supplied food and shelter to homeless people. There was a separate line for kids and I was also standing there while waiting for my turn. Suddenly I felt someone grab my hand. "She's perfect." I heard them say this and the next thing I knew, I was being taken to Sinsila."
"I was being treated as if I was some sort of God. The very next day I was crowned as the princess of Sinsila. I was being told that the king has adopted me and now I am a part of his kingdom and his family. I thought that my life will finally take a good turn but I was wrong. Kevin was the one who made sure that my life was still more painful than hell. I tired so hard to escape but every time I tired to do that, I would fail. The king tried to stop him a lot of times but he never listened to him and as time passed by, he also gave up on him."
"At that time, this lady standing right here was the one who took care of me. She was the one who wiped my tears and fed me my favorite food. She was the one who used to dress me up in beautiful dresses, did my hair and made me feel like an actual princess. She became my second mother! And she is the one who told me the actual reason why I was taken there..." She trailed off as she felt tears building up in her eyes but she still managed to speak again.
"There was a prophecy which was made by her which stated that the fifteenth heir of the royal family of Sinsila will destroy their whole dynasty. The only way to stop this was to have a daughter in their family but the queen died and Kevin was left as the only child of the royal family. The king sent various soldiers to different nations to go and get a girl with no family. Coincidentally, I happened to be that girl. That was the reason why I was taken there. She supported me for my whole life and I cannot leave her in a moment like this when she also needs me, she lost her own daughter due to this war...If she can be my second mother...I also have to be the second daughter to her and take care of her." Julia finished and tears fell down on her cheeks.
"She can stay here." They all heard Claire and looked at her direction. Her eyes were burning in rage, she just wanted to tear apart Kevin. To ease her anger she just pressed her foot deep into a corpse's body which made her boots all covered in blood. Sky was also looking down, listening to Julia but when he heard Claire, he looked up which made Claire see his left eye covered with an eye patch. Her heart did a flip and her eyes widened a little. "Sky..." She took small steps towards him but later increased her pace and ran towards him. "Sky!" She yelled as she felt pain arising in her body as well.
She came to him and cupped his face. "How?" She felt her own tears streaming down her face as she traced that patch with shaking hands. Sky held her trembling hand and kept that on his chest. "Don't worry, my heart is still beating...and will continue to beat..." He kept his hand on her chest. "Until yours keep beating as well..." She hugged him tightly while crying loudly on his shoulder.
"Why?! Why is it happening with us?! Why are we losing our all loved ones?! Why?!" She was completely broken down at that moment. She just wanted to let it all out at once. Sky gently patted her back while controlling his own tears. "Shh...let's just not give up..." He said but soon couldn't control his tears as well. He also hugged her tightly and they both just let out all of their emotions while being in each other's embrace.
Julia quietly left from there to give them both some privacy and went to show that lady a room to stay. She lead her to an empty room and told her about all the things which she will need to stay there comfortably. After spending a few minutes with that lady, Julia came out. She went to the garden to freshen up her mind which was flooding with different thoughts. She was walking when she suddenly felt a grip on her hand.
She turned around and saw Jake who had a firm grip on her wrist. "Why didn't you tell me anything before?" He asked her but she was not able to reply to him. "Did you not trust me enough?" It was clear from his way of speaking that he was feeling betrayed. "It's not like that!" Julia said to him. "Then what was the reason?" He asked her. "I did not want you feel pity on me!" Julia said but then next thing which Jake did, shocked her.
He pulled her closer to himself and kissed her desperately which made her breath hitch but later she also gave in. "I do not need to pity you because I know you are emotionally strong and can fight with your emotions all on your own." Jake said while pulling out from that kiss. He connected their foreheads and cupped her face. "I love you." He whispered to her. "I love you too."
After a while they both sat down near a tree, Jake laid his head on Julia's lap and looked at the clouds above him. "I am scared." He said breaking the silence. "Why?" She asked him. "I am scared that I will not be able to protect my people...I feel like I am going to fail yet again." He said with a heavy sigh. "I tried so hard but I am still very weak."
"To be the best version of yourself, you must embrace all your weaknesses."
Julia said to him and he looked at her and sat back up. "You just have to keep faith in yourself, I trust you that you will do your best. But...even if you fail just think that you did your best." She said to him and held his hand. "You can do it." She smiled widely at him.
A few hours later, Claire and Sky called James and Jake along with some of their most trusted and powerful soldiers and explained them the whole strategy for their attack on Sinsila. They both were revising the plan when another guard came there in a hurry. It was visible from his face that he had an urgent message to give.
He controlled his breaths and looked towards Claire. "King Kevin of Sinsila has declared an open war on Andria and Philaria." He said and handed that notice to Claire. She clenched that notice in her hands and looked at all the people present in that room with a cold and serious expression on her face.
"It's time...for the final attack."
