Sky reached back to Philaria's castle along with an unconscious Claire. He immediately told the medic to take care of her and treat her wounds. Just as Julia got the news of their arrival, she came there rushing. "Prince Sky! Where is Queen Rose?" She was visibly scared. "Answer me please!" She was getting impatient and just wanted to know what happened. "She..." Sky was not able to put those words together to tell her what happened.
She kept looking at him with pleading eyes. He sighed and finally managed to speak. "She...is no more." He replied and closed his eyes. Julia felt as if the ground shattered beneath her feet. "This....this can't be true!" She tripped a few steps back in shock. "Unfortunately, it is." Sky replied and looked down in guilt.
Tears slipped from Julia's eyes as she processed the words he said. Sky was standing while looking down when he felt a tight grip on his shoulder from behind. He turned around and saw Ray who was extremely furious. "You were not able to protect her?!!!" He blurted out at Sky. "I tired...I tried to...." Sky kept looking down. "I will kill you!!" Ray gripped both of his collars and shouted at him.
Julia flinched at his sudden outburst. She hesitantly took some steps towards him and kept her hand on his shoulder. "Calm down, Ray." She spoke to him in a low voice. "How...how can I calm down?" His grip loosened on Sky's collar and he stepped back. "How can I?" He looked down with tears. "I was not able to protect the person who was just like an elder sister to me too. 'Protect' is not the correct word. I did not even know that she has gone to rescue Claire. I was so drowned into my own grief that I was not able to even look around and see what's happening." He clenched his fists and looked down while tears flowed from his eyes.
"I'm a coward, I was not able to protect any of my loved ones. It's all my fault for being such a huge coward." He raised his hand to punch himself but Sky held his hand. "We both are not much different. In fact, we both are the same. I was not able to protect her even after knowing she was there. Just like you, I was not able to protect my loved ones too." Sky said to him with tears as well. "We both are cowards but that doesn't mean that we will give up this easily." He looked at Ray directly in the eyes.
"We will fight, even as cowards, we will give our best. We will defeat the enemy who is responsible for all of this." He said with burning passion in his eyes which made Ray slightly shocked but motivated at the same time.
Kylie who also came with Ray went upstairs to find where James was. After roaming here and there for a while she finally found his room. She knocked on it twice and after gaining permission she went inside. She saw him all wrapped up in bandages and he was barely able to sit on his own. Her words got stuck in her throat when she saw him like that.
James gave her a slight smile and signaled her to come closer. She took a few steps towards him, looking at him with teary eyes. "I never thought that you can cry this easily." James said to her. "Don't tease me..." She said and a tear slipped down her face. "Were you that worried for me?" He asked her. "I was...I thought that...I'd loose you." She said and burst out into tears. It was the first time when she was crying in the past 10 years.
"Why, Kylie? Why were you worried for me? What am I to you?" James asked her and she looked at him. "The one who made me know how it feels when someone calls you their friend." She replied to him making him widen his eyes slightly and his eyes softened on hearing that. "Thank you...thank you for being the first person to care for me, the first person to be worried for me." He said smiled at her. She also wiped her tears and looked at him. "I'm glad that you are safe."
Sky and Ray were talking to each other in the balcony when a maid came rushing to them. "Queen Claire is awake." She told them and they both rushed to her room. Sky quickly went inside while Ray stayed outside. Claire tried to sit up on her own but it was clearly visible that she was in pain. Sky rushed to her and made her sit.
"Where is Rose?" It was the first thing she asked him. "Sky where is my sister?" She asked him again. Her breaths were becoming faster and shallower. "Calm down, Claire." He said to her while making her cover herself with a blanket. "JUST TELL ME WHERE IS SHE!?" She yelled and looked down. "Please tell me...please tell me that what I saw was just an illusion. Please tell me that she is safe. Please tell me that she in the other room with her son. Please tell me..." She began crying while clutching onto that blanket.
"I'm sorry..." Sky was only able to utter out those words. Claire looked at him and saw tears flowing down his cheeks as well. He sat on one knee beside her bed and held her bandaged hand. "I'm sorry...I'm sorry for breaking my promise to always take care of your sister and protect her." He held her hand tightly and she could feel his tears falling on her burnt hand.
"No...no...this is not the truth! This can't be true!!" She said in desperation but Sky just looked down and kept on crying. Claire also began crying on not hearing anything more from Sky except his sobs.
She looked back up when she heard a child's cry. She looked towards the door of that room and saw Julia standing there with Theron in her arms. She came towards Claire and kept Theron on her lap. "Your nephew, Prince Theron." She said to her. Claire looked at her lap and looked at that little boy laughing and playing with her blanket. "His smile is same as Rose." She and smiled at that little one.
She then noticed the necklace wrapped around his neck. Her smile faded away as she recognized that it was her sister's necklace. She lifted up her other hand which had less bandages and touched that necklace around Theron's neck. She smiled sadly and was about to take her hand back but Theron grabbed her finger tightly. She kept looking at him and saw that he himself kept her finger on Rose's necklace.
It was as if he read her feelings and understood them too. Sky and Julia also saw that and smiled at them. "You are just like your mother...you can also understand me even if I do not say a single word. It's just like as if you can read my mind." She said to Theron and placed a little kiss on his forehead.
Ray was looking at them from outside. He also smiled while looking at them. "I hope...Theron becomes just as brave as his parents." He said to himself and kept looking at them having their sweet moment.
After a while, he was about to go back when his eyes landed on something shiny. He looked and saw that it were Claire's broken armor and her torn and rusty clothes which were kept out for disposing. He looked closely and saw that shiny object. He went near it and picked it up. It was an earring but when he looked closely, he realized something which made his eyes go wide.
"This...this can't be...."
