Chapter - 49

*15 years ago*

Claire was sitting in the garden with Rose and was looking at some butterflies. Just then she heard the loud drums beat and got up. "Rose, did we have visitors today?" She asked her but Rose nodded as a no. Claire looked at Rose and then at those butterflies. She sat back on her place and sighed. 

"What happened Claire?" Rose asked her. "All those flowers are starting to whither. These butterflies will go away soon." Claire said in a sad voice. "It's because autumn is coming." Rose said to her. Claire did not say anything and was looking down when she saw a pair of hands in front of her eyes. 

That person opened his hands and a butterfly came and sat on Claire's nose. She was taken aback and looked at that person. "Autumn is beautiful too." He said to her. "But all these butterflies will vanish away." She said to him. "Do you love butterflies this much?" He asked her and she nodded at him. "Ok then, wait here." He said and went inside the castle.

After a few minutes he came back with an origami butterfly in his hand. "Take this." He said and kept that butterfly on her head. "This butterfly will never leave you no matter what season it is." He said and smiled at her. Claire's face lit up when she saw that butterfly. "Thank you!" She said to him in an amazed voice. She was in awe because she found that butterfly very cute.

"Wait...who are you? I never saw you before." Claire looked at the boy in front of her. "I'm Prince Ray from the most intelligent kingdom, Sophiesia." He said in a dramatic way while pointing at himself. "He doesn't even know basic calculations." A girl came there. She was looking really mature despite the fact that she was a child too. "I'm Princess Lucy." She introduced herself. 

"You did not have to tell that to her!" Ray hit her slightly. Lucy smacked the back of his head and he looked down in embarrassment. Claire was confused to see such a change in his personality in a split second. He looked back up at Claire and smiled really shyly at her. "I'm Claire." She introduced herself as well. "Will you be my friend?" Ray asked her. "Sure!"

Claire was riding her horse at a very fast speed. Tears were continuously flowing from her eyes. Suddenly a butterfly came and sat on her nose. She stopped right there and looked at that butterfly. "Its the same one as that day." She said and took that butterfly on the tip of her finger. "I did not realize that spring is already here." She sighed and made that butterfly fly back. She tightened her grip on her horse and again rode off to Sophiesia.

"You should be careful princess."
"I'm sorry Prince Ray."
"No need for that, friends do not say sorry to each other."

"Claire! What are you doing? Are you out of your mind!"
"What were you doing?!"
"Father is fixing my marriage with Kevin."
"He said that the final decision would be mine but as much as I know him, he definitely wants me to marry him."
"I will never let that happen."
"I will not let you marry such a person. It might have been ten years since that incident but I cannot even imagine to let you marry such a person."
"Thank you, Ray."
"Friends do not say thank you to each other either."

"Thank you Ray, thank for always being by my side and I'm sorry that...because of me...you.." She was not able to complete her words as she felt a lump form in her throat. Without caring for anything, she just rushed towards the Sophiesia castle which was now clearly visible from afar.

Julia was feeding Theron in her room when suddenly she heard very loud noises from outside. She carefully kept Theron in his cradle and went out. She stopped on her tracks when she saw that the whole castle was invaded by the soldiers of Sinsila and Sophiesia. 

Her eyes widened and she began trembling. She was not able to move even when she saw a person directly coming towards her with his sword. "Don't you dare!" Sky came in front of her and kicked that sword from his hand. "Take Theron and run away from here!" Sky commanded her. Julia nodded at him and quickly took Theron with her. 

Sky stayed behind and began fighting with those soldiers. There were a lot of them but this time he was determined to keep his promise. He did not care if he lose his own life. He wanted to protect Julia and Theron at all costs.

Julia was running, finding a way out of the castle when she got surrounded by some other soldiers. Her body froze on seeing them all having huge swords. She kept stepping back from them but after a few steps, her back touched the wall and she was completely trapped. She thought that it was the end for her.

"Yah! How dare you all go near her!!" Jake growled and jumped, slashing their necks in a row. A few drops of their blood fell on Julia but she was glad that she was finally saved. Jake came to her and checked for any injuries. "Are you ok? Did you get hurt? Is...prince Theron ok?" He asked her with worry in his eyes. "We both are fine, don't worry." Julia reassured him. "I know a secret way out of here, follow it and you will reach out safely." Jake said and took her hand.

He guided her to that way and made her go out of the castle safe and sound. "Wait for me, I'll be there soon but till then do not do anything." Jake said to her and she nodded. He was about to go but she called him again. "Please be safe." She said to him. "Don't worry." He smiled at her and ran back inside.

Sky was fighting with all his might. "I'll not let you win this time!" His rage and anger was clearly being reflected in his moves. His eyes were burning with the desperation to see them suffer and take the revenge for the death of his loved ones. 

He got surrounded by a lot of soldiers at once. He was tired at that moment and was breathing heavily but he did not give up. He took a long breath and launched at them once again. He saw Jake approaching him which made him calm down a little. Jake saw him and slightly bowed at him fighting the enemy at the other side.

Sky was so into fighting with them that he did not notice an arrow being aimed at him from the upper level of the castle. Just as he jumped to slash one of them, that person shot that arrow on him which hit him directly in his left eye. He fell down and screamed badly due to the pain. His face got covered in blood which trailed down his chest.

Jake heard his scream and quickly turned to him only to see him sitting on his knees with that arrow in one hand and holding his face, in the other. He was breathing heavily, he tried to stand up but failed and lost balance. "Prince Sky!!" Jake quickly came to him and killed all those guards which were surrounding him. "Prince!" He knelt down at Sky's level and made him stand back up.

"Don't let them escape from here. Finish them all."
