The messages were pouring in, everyone excited for us

The messages were pouring in, everyone excited for us. It was surreal sitting on the couch, looking at my beautiful ring. Once that had been on Henry's grandmother, Mary's hand and in her union, she had Anne, who then in her union had Henry. And now, he was mine and I was his. It was a romantic and beautiful gesture of him to use his grandmother's ring.

Henry looked at me as I admired the ring, and smiled to myself. "Do you like it?" He said in a small voice, sounding innocent and insecure.

"I love it so much. It's the most beautiful ring I have ever seen", I smiled at him and touched the ring again. The emerald sparkled and the color truly reminded me of Henry's eyes.

"I feel so lucky", he said, his voice choking a little in his throat, as he was getting emotional. "I never thought I'd meet someone like you. Someone who would see me the way you do".

"Thanks for letting me see you", I crawled into his lap and hugged him. I kissed him and snuggled into his chest, smelling his scent, feeling so happy and calm. "I've been feeling anxious a lot recently, nervous and my body is out of balance, being so tired and nauseous all the time. But here, right here in your arms, it all disappears. I know it sounds corny, but truly, you calm me", I said into his shoulder.

"I feel the same, love", he said and kissed me on the forehead.

I called my parents and told them the news. They congratulated us and seemed happy for me. For us both. They were on FaceTime with us, which was new to them, but one of the neighbors had shown them how their son, who lived in Canada, used to call them. So now mom was very focused on me FaceTiming her, when I wanted to chat. I showed them the ring, and mom cooed at the screen, admiring it.

"That's a beautiful ring, Henry. Good choice", dad said and smiled.

"It belonged to my grandmother, who passed away a while back. She would have loved Ellie to pieces", Henry beamed at me, holding my hand.

"Well we are very happy for the both of you", mom said. "I heard that Adam is awake", she changed the subject quite abruptly.

I nodded. "Yeah, he's awake. I was in the hospital with him yesterday", I covered my arm with my hand, hiding the bruise that was looking bad today. "He has amnesia, so he doesn't remember we are divorced. I had to tell him and say goodbye". Henry squeezed my hand a little tighter, wanting to calm me, but I was quite calm already. I felt like I had made my peace with the whole situation.

Mom felt very bad for Adam and his family, and just like the last time, she and I had spoken about it, I encouraged her to offer them her sympathy and help. I wasn't going to deny her the peace it might give her to help the Parsons. Even if I was out and done, I couldn't force my family to shut all doors to Adam and his family. It was their choice to make.

We arranged to go back to LA as soon as possible. Henry needed to work on his album and so we agreed that I should do some redecorating of the house, so it would be my home as well. I appreciated that Henry found something for me to focus on. He just wanted it to be my safe place. I spent the trip from NY to LA looking at designs and exploring colors for the walls. Henry had his arm around me, keeping his attention on the iPad I was scrolling on. He made little approving comments, nodded and pointed to the things he liked. Taste wise we were close, which would make decorating easy for me.

When we came back to LA, Jeff and Glenne messaged us to hear if we wanted to come for dinner in a couple of days. We thanked them and I was looking forward to it. Secretly I looked forward to showing Glenne my ring and to go out as Henry's fiancé. We hadn't made anything public yet, but Henry insisted that I wear my ring, and if it was spotted, good for them. He was going to make a plan with Jeff about the official statement that would come. He was scheduled to do an interview with The Rolling Stone soon, and he would like to tell the world that way. They were doing a large piece about him and his upcoming single. That usually meant he had to do a larger interview with a photosession to put him on people's minds. I had a hard time believing that he ever really left people's minds for very long.
