Chapter 40

Time at Hogwarts was passing really fast, and before I knew it we were in the last days of November. The weather was cold and everything around me was already starting to feel like Christmas, and the only thing that was missing was the snow. Everyone was waiting like crazy for the first snow of the year and every morning that I woke up, the first thing I did was to check my window but with still no luck. 

Everyone was also being terrified by the news that Sirius Black had been sighed just a few towns away from Hogwarts, and they didn't want him to come to the school. But I mean, why Sirius Black would want to come to Hogwarts out of all the places he can go? I mean, he had no reason to come to our school, but I don't blame my classmates for being scared 

I also forgot to mention the sad news, which is that Buckbeak will be executed. My father did what he said and went Buckbeak to court and then used his power to win the case. I sent him more than ten letters to talk about it but of course, he ignored all of them and didn't even answer them, while my mother told me in one of her recent letters she tried her best to convince my father to find a better solution to the subject but with no luck. Draco is mad at me that I supported the "bloody bird" and not him and ignores all my attempts to apologize to him, so I gave up

One day because I had a free period, I was walking inside the castle with a book in my hands, reading and walking through the empty corridors of the school. All my friends were in class, and I was alone walking and trying to do something to pass my free time until I heard a familiar voice calling my name. I looked up from my book to see Cedric Diggory walking towards me with a smile and his yellow scarf flying in the opposite direction that he was coming. I gave him a smile before he stopped in front of me and made his scarf

Cedric: Hey Y/n! I was wondering if you had a copy with all your practices. I took one from Wood and Davies because I want to find hours before the next game for the Hufflepuff team to practice 

He said with a smile and I nodded before I closed my book

Y/n: I don't have a copy, but I could make one now. 

I said, putting my backpack on the nearest bench, so I could find the program and a piece of parchment with a quil. When I did, I sat down on the bench and started copying my program, and he sat next to me. Some hair was falling in my eyes and I put it behind my ear while checking if I copied the dates right and then turned to look at him before I found him already looking at me. When he realized that I saw him, he gave me a smile, and then I handed him the paper before I stood up. He thanked me and I nodded before walking away, but then he stopped me again 

Cedric: Hey Y/n I was wondering if you would like to go with me for a butterbeer in Hogmeades next weekend. Only the two of us! It doesn't have to be a date if you don't want to, we can just go as friends 

He said, and I was taken aback by his question. I saw his cheeks turning red and I smiled, trying to find the nicest way to decline his offer

Y/n: Sorry, I already have plans with my friends, but thank you though for the offer 

I said with a smile before walking away before he could say another thing. I didn't lie because I indeed had plans with my friends and I would love to spend some time with him as friends, but something inside me tells me that he sees me more than that. I am flattered of course but unfortunately for him, no one, I mean no one would take me away from Percy because he is the only owner of the key to my heart. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true.

Anyway, at the weekend, Ruby and I will go to Hogmeades because Ruby wants to find a dress for the Winter Ball. The Winter Ball is the dance for the seventh year that happens every year to celebrate their last year at Hogwarts. The prefects with the Head Boy and Head Girl of the school are the ones who open the ball with a traditional slow dance with their dates. My mother told me about her dance and I seriously cannot wait. Well Percy already asked me to go with him and of course, I said yes, but we will have to pretend to be just friends while we are there
