Day 5

The moment he removed his keys from his pocket, he heard a pair of small paws hitting excitingly the door from the other side, and his heart broke even more. The moment he opened the door, Atlas jumped on him and Percy fell to his knees with tears in his eyes. Percy took him in his hug while the dog was looking behind him, searching for the owner he adored, but when he realised that Y/n wasn't there he let out a small cry. Animals can indeed feel it when a human is sad, and Atlas made his small head comfortable on Percy's shoulder with tears in his eyes, realising that his owner wouldn't come out from the lift in the hallway like she always did when she returned home.

Percy: I am sorry bud, you are only stuck with me now

He said, wiping a tear that was rolling down his cheek. He picked up the dog and entered the house that he was avoiding the last few days. Everything in there reminded him of her. Everywhere he looked, there would be something related to Y/n. Her shoes were next to his by the side of the door. Her unfinished book was on the armchair next to the fireplace where she sat the night before everything happened and Percy begged her to come to bed because it was getting too late. Even the mug, she had drunk coffee a few days ago was on the sink. That mug which was his present to her for her twentieth birthday a few weeks ago was what made him want to leave. He just couldn't do it. He thought that he could do it, but he couldn't. It was too soon for him to return to their old house

He picked up his coat from where he had thrown it on the sofa when he entered the house and took Atlas in his hands. He decided to go for a walk in the busy streets of London to clear his mind. Atlas was resting his head on his shoulder again, looking around curiously at the people who walked past them. London was busy as always and that is what made him love it the day when he first moved here. London always has a way of stealing your heart in the most unexpected ways and when you are far away from it, you wish you were there, sitting in a café near the famous London Eye and admiring the beauty of the city.

As he was walking he noticed from afar Y/n's favourite café which was hidden in one of the alleys near Big Ben. What she used to love about it was the fact that it was never too busy, and it had the most amazing coffee in the entire London. He looked at the café with hesitation, not wanting to get near it because the memories would destroy him again, but a cup of tea or coffee wouldn't hurt him that much, right?

Percy sat at a table outside the café and Atlas made himself comfortable in his lap as he was making his order to the waitress. He took a sip from the coffee, trying to clear his mind and forget everything for a few minutes, but then he heard a familiar voice calling him from behind. He looked behind with curiosity just as the two familiar faces were making their way to him with apologetic looks on both their faces. Penelope Clearwater and Oliver Brown were the last people he wanted to see at the moment, but there was nothing else he could do but be polite to them.

Penelope: Hey Perce, we read in the newspaper what happened to Y/n, and we wanted to say how sorry we are, we know she meant a lot to you

She said with a sad expression on her face. They both noticed his puffy eyes and his awful state but decided to keep it to themselves. His eyes could tell you right away that he was broken, even though he didn't say it out loud

Percy: Thank you, I appreciate it

He said with a grateful look and Oliver nodded before patting him on the shoulder comfortingly

Oliver: She was a wonderful person and one of her kind

Percy nodded with a smile on his face because even though they didn't deserve a bit of respect, he was still going to give it to them, at least for Y/n's shake
