Lauren knocked on Magnus' door, today it was a vibrant shade of red. She expected it to be Magnus but once the door opened, she saw the familiar face that belongs to Alec Lightwood.
He smiled at her"Hey, Lauren what are you doing here so late...and what the hell is that!" He saw the dog and took a few steps backward. Oh great! Another dog hater! Thought Lauren, sighing she said "It's a dog, Alec. And can I come in please?"
"Oh yeah, sure" he stepped aside to allow her and the dog in "come in"
"Thanks"
Lauren walked into what looked most like a living room and sat down on one of the dark leather couches. As if he sensed her arrival, Magnus came strutting into the room. "Ah Lauren, what a lovely surprise" he hugged her and looked down at the furring mass by her feet "And I see that you've brought a dog?"
"Yep" Lauren sat back down and stroked the dog "is it yours?" Asked Magnus. Lauren shrugged "Yeah, about that" Lauren explained everything to Magnus and he seemed to understand.
"So" he said "If I'm right, you wanted to keep the dog -when Jace said no- and then trying to be dramatic you walked out" he looked at her "Now you don't have a place to sleep tonight?"
"No, I don't" Lauren admitted, "Okay" Magnus got up "Well I guess you'll just have to stay here for the night" Lauren shook her head "No, I don't want to bother you"
"Don't worry, you're always welcome here"
"Always" added Alec from the doorframe, where he was carefully carrying two cups of coffee "I'm sure Magnus would like something with abbot more of a kick" he laughed "I would" and Magnus clicked his fingers and a glass of whiskey appeared in his hand.

The three of them all made up a bed for Lauren in the spare room and went to watch films. After a while Alec hugged Lauren goodbye

and headed back to the institute as he had to be there early the next morning for training. As soon as the door closed Magnus changed the channel to a show called 'project runway' "I love Alec but sometimes he watches the worst shows ever, whereas me, well I watch the best shows ever" Lauren laughed at his comment "I'm being serious you know, this show is amazing" he then adjusted himself and took another drink from his bottomless glass of whiskey. After project runway finished Magnus walked Lauren to her bedroom for the night "Goodnight Lauren"
"Night Magnus"

Lauren woke up the next day to the lovely sound of her phone ringing, looking at bright screen she sighed. Abi. Lauren answered call and held the phone to her ear "What do you want?" Lauren voice came out groggy as she had just woken up. "Well, hello to you too!" Lauren rolled her eyes at Abi's comment and waited for her to carry on "Anyway, I'm getting really tired of telling my parents all about my life so I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?"
"Um ok" Lauren scratched her head "Meet me outside the institute in half and hour?"
"Sure bye!" And Abi hung up.
Lauren slowly made her way out of her room and into the lounge. Magnus wasn't there. Instead she found a cup of coffee, fresh set of clothes and a handwritten note on the small table. Sitting on the now beige couch, Lauren read the note. 

Lauren,

I've gone to take the dog to the groomers to give it a little trim and to also get it a new collar and lead so we can maybe walk it together later?
Anyway, I've 'borrowed' some clothes for you, I know they're not really your 'style' but I think the pink would look great on you. Plus, I can't have you wearing the same outfit two days in a row without washing them. Also, the coffee is just to wake you up (you don't seem like a morning person)

Ps: Alec is coming to look after you, he'll be round at 10:00 after his training.

After Lauren finished the letter she heard a knock on the door, checking the time on her phone she guessed it would be Alec. Once she opened it she saw him and moved aside to let him in. He turned to her and looked at her in an authoritative way.

"I'm here to look after you, so your not bored or home alone or anything" he said, Lauren rolled her eyes.

"Alec, I'm not a baby I can look after myself and anyway me and abi are going out in about-" She looked at her watch "now! Omg I need to get ready" Lauren grabbed the clothes Magnus left for her and ran into the spare room to get changed, She didn't have time to do anything with her uncomfortable hair so She just left it down. She then ran past Alec shouting bye as she left.
