Rosie saw Ominis sitting on one of the lounges in front of the fire of the Slytherin common room when she left their dormitory. A part of her wanted to let him be, to process his grief. But another part of her wanted to let him know that while they weren't the best of friends, she would still be there for him.
"Ominis?" She called gently, approaching him with gentle footsteps.
"Oh. Rosie, hello. Sorry." Ominis replied, wiping at his eyes with his sleeve.
Rosie sat down on the opposite side of the lounge, "I just wanted to make sure you were okay before I go get Sebastian some food."
"I'll be fine." He sighed, "But thank you for checking."
"I can tell you aren't." Rosie noted, "Look. I know we didn't really have the greatest start, but... I just want you to know I'm here. If you ever need to talk about something. Sebastian hasn't told me much, and he's right to do that, but I know life hasn't been kind to you."
Ominis let out a small chuckle, "You're right. It hasn't."
Rosie could see the pain in Ominis' eyes despite his smile, and she felt a rush of empathy for him.
"And... thank you. For trying to hide the fact you had to cast Crucio from me. I did know what was going on and I heard it all but... I respect you both for trying." Ominis said.
Rosie nearly recoiled, she thought that she and Sebastian had hid it well, but apparently not.
"Of course..." Rosie paused, swallowing hard despite her desperately dry mouth. "I better uh, get Sebastian something to eat and some Wiggenwelds. I'll be back."
"I'll come with you." Ominis offered.
Rosie's eyes widened, "Oh, uh, if you like?"
"You won't be able to get back in without me." Ominis chuckled.
"Right..."
Rosie suddenly felt incredibly stupid.
The pair left the Slytherin common room and headed straight for Ravenclaw tower where Rosie had Wiggenweld potions stashed in her trunk. She collected three and stuffed them in her pocket. She decided if he needed more, she'd charge him and make a trip to J. Pippins for him instead of wasting her hard work in potions class.
Ominis insisted on waiting outside for her, not keen on entering the Ravenclaw common room, which had her now second guessing entering the Slytherin common room in the first place.
They stopped off at the Great Hall on the way to the dungeons and Rosie selected a random assortment of food and stacked them on a plate, hoping dearly no one questioned her for removing it from the hall.
"I'll grab some extra bread. He does tend to get snackish later in the night and I don't particularly want to be sneaking out after curfew to get him food because his damned legs won't work." Ominis suggested, sounding exasperated, as if it were a nightly occurrence.
"Noted." Rosie chuckled, stashing some extra bread rolls onto the plate and into her pockets.
They made their way back to the dungeons, a few stray looks being thrown their way. Rosie wasn't sure if it was the stacked plate or the unlikely combination of herself and Ominis that attracted the wandering eyes.
She passed through the door with Ominis uttering the password and he returned to his earlier spot on the lounge. "You go, I'll talk to him later."
Rosie nodded, "Okay, Ominis. Thank you for coming with me. I appreciated the company."
Ominis managed a small smile and went back to picking at his fingernails like he was doing earlier.
Rosie made her way back to the boys wing and into the first door on the left. Sebastian had drawn the curtains closed in her absence and she couldn't help but roll her eyes.
