Rosie knew communication with Sebastian while she was in Peru would be limited. She sent him messages when she could, but she was never sure if he was responding or not due to the lack of service.

She had sent him another message when they'd returned, a mere two-months later, but she was shocked when she didn't receive a response back on British soil.

Perhaps he was still at work. It was only 4pm on a Friday.

She headed straight back to their apartment, finding it locked as she had expected had he been at work. But when she entered, something felt a little off.

The flat was clean and tidy, but felt stuffy. The one thing she'd learned about Sebastian since living with him, was that he had despised living in the Slytherin common room for nine months of the year. He'd spent most of his childhood in the open air of Feldcroft, so living in an underwater, air-tight dungeon was stifling. So any chance he got, Sebastian was opening windows and doors in their London dwelling.

Rosie couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that settled in her stomach seeing it so closed up. She made her way through the rooms calling out his name again and again, but there was no response or any sign of him.

Nothing had been disturbed, all his belongings were still there.

She checked her phone again, hoping for any kind of message but there was nothing.

Panic began to surge through her, assuming the worst. He'd been hurt or taken or arrested or something.

She quickly left the apartment and made her way on foot to Gringotts, thankfully finding Liam still at his desk after their trip.

"Sebastian! Where?!" She panted upon arriving at his desk, practically collapsing onto it.

"I was going to ask you the same thing," Liam said with a scratch of his head, "He hasn't clocked in for weeks."

"What?"

"Yeah, just... stopped showing up."

And then the panic really set in.

She left without a word, wandering aimlessly until she could form a plan.

First, she went to the Ministry of Magic. He hadn't been seen there and the Aurors seemed not fazed at all by his disappearance, though assured her they'd make a note of it. Even her sister couldn't pull any strings to make them take it more seriously.

Helpful.

So she went to the Muggle police and reported him missing. They were significantly more helpful than the Auror department, though again, it wasn't very high on their priority list.

He was an adult man who could make his own decisions after all.

So with all the bases covered, she was left with no choice but to go home and wait, praying that he'd come home or send her a message or anything to let her know he was okay.

But when that didn't come for two days, and with no sleep besides the small moments she got falling asleep upright on the lounge, she decided to pull the house apart for any sort of hint, clue. Something that indicated why he left or what made him leave.

She started with Sebastian's work, rifling through papers, opening drawers, and scanning his bookshelf but despite the thorough search, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Sebastian's work notes were still neatly organised, his books remained in their usual order with none missing.

So Rosie moved to the bedroom, pulling apart the bed covers and scouring the closet. But yet again, she found nothing unusual. Sebastian's clothes were neatly hung, his belongings arranged just as they always were with none of them taken. Not even a coat.
