30. Trial

TW- PANIC ATTACK
Olivia's pov-
Its been a week since my attempt and my mum's have done everything to support me, they have been nothing but amazing
Tomorrow was my trial with Manchester City Academy and i was nervous as fuck, i knew i wasnt good enough but also if i did get it what would i put on my shirt, that just confirms things for fans if i had my proper name on it, but i didnt just want bronze on it either, that was taking keira away from being my amazing mama, i was lost in thought
Lucy-"liv?... liv?... olivia!"
Olivia-"huh oh what?"
"how are you feeling?"
"oh uh yeah im fine"
She raises an eyebrow at me
"just nervous"
"for?... tomorrow?"
"yeah"
The next day-
I wake up nice and early and get into some nike training gear, ck brought for me
I read the clock. 8am
I have 1hr till my trial
I feel really sick with nerves
My mum's are still asleep but i NEED one of them to wake up right about now as i feel my breathing fasten
My breathing fastens and my chest gets tight
Amazing. Fucking amazing. A panic attack.
I start shaking, my mum's oblivious to it
Mama starts to stir and all i can do is shout "m..m..mama!"
She quickly opens her eyes and sits up
Keira-"liv baba whats going on"
Olivia-"h..h..help m..me"
"Breathe for me liv, in and out shshshsh"
"I cant mama please help me i dont like it"
"Calm down liv,dont make it worse baba"
"M..m..mama, i..i w..w..want m..m...mum"
She shakes lucy to wake her
Lucy-"whats going on"
She sees me shaking and shoots up
Lucy-"babygirl breathe for me"
"I..i..i cant mum"
"Yeah you can babygirl i know you can, in and out nice and slow, count to 5 with me"
"What"

"M..m..mum its not working"
I start crying
She wraps me in her arms and rocks me back and fourth
"Shshshshsh weve got you"
She keeps rocking me and my breathing slows
"T..t..thank you mum"
"Why did that happen liv?"
"Im to nervous mum i can't do it, i know im not good enough"
"Dont even start doubting yourself olivia bronze-walsh"
"But mu-"
Im quickly cut off by keira
Keira-"no, dont"
Olivia-"fine"
Lucy-"do you want some special pancakes"
I shake my head
Olivia-"there celebratory pancakes, there's nothing to celebrate yet"
Keira-"god dammit liv"
I laugh
I have some crumpets instead
Mum and mama get dressed and we head off
I start to feel really sick again, mama notices my nerves
She puts her hand on my knee
Keira-"calm liv, you will be okay"
We arrive and i get out the car shaking
My mum holds and squeezes my hand
Lucy-"whatever happens im so proud of you"
Mama kisses my head as i head to the pitch and they go to the stands
I breathe slowly trying to calm myself
The coach comes out
Coach-"hello everyone and welcome to the trials, this will be an all day programme with lunch in between, there will be different sets of drills with a game to end the day"
I start of at a 1v1 drill, you swap places defending and attacking
I beat everyone i go up against on that when i was attacking
Then it was passing, my mama's best skill
I did okay on that
Then it was lunch
I smiled at my mum's to let them know i was okay but didnt speak to them
We go back out and there was a shooting drill
I score all my goals
Last was the game
6v6
I was striker
I dribble past there whole team and slot it in the top corner
I look over to see my mum mouth "thats my girl"
I see the coach smiling towards me and making notes
I score 3, my team won 4-1
The trial ends
Coach-"well done everyone, results will be tomorrow"
She pulls me aside
Coach-"well done olivia, i wasnt expecting that i was going to be honest, when you kept pushing it back i was getting worried but that was incredible, i am meant to let you know tomorrow but come with me, take me to your mum's"
I take her
Coach-"can you all follow me please"
We follow her into a office
Coach-"take a seat please"
We all sit down
Coach-"olivia did exceptionally today, i cannot wait until tomorrow to tell you that Olivia Bronze-Walsh you are now in Manchester City Academy"
I just scream
Coach-"haha, welcome aboard, if you sign this we will get you signed, we wont announce it until tomorrow of course"
Olivia-"wait"
Coach-"is there a problem?"
Olivia-"i uh, what name am i going to have on my shirt?"
Coach-"thats your choice"
Olivia-"i dont know, i dont want just Bronze because that takes away Kei but then i cant have Bronze-Walsh becuase of your relationship"
Lucy-"if you want Bronze-Walsh then you have it" she looks at mama for confirmation
Keira-"if thats what you want darling, that it what you have"
Olivia-"really?"
Lucy-"if thats what you want babygirl, then thats what you have"
Olivia-"okay"
Coach-"so bronze-walsh what number?"
Olivia-"6"
I answer quickly
Coach-"bronze-walsh and 6?"
I nod eagerly
Keira-"why 6 baba?"
Olivia-"4+2"
She smiles
Coach-"right then if you would like to sign this we will get some photos if thats ok?"
I look to my mum
Lucy-"your choice"
Olivia-"what are they for?"
Coach-"our instagram, welcoming new signings"
Olivia-"ok yeah thats okay"
Lucy-"are you sure" she asks worried
Olivia-"yes mum, im not hiding away forever"
She nods
I sign it aswell as my mum's
We take a few photos
Coach-"do you want your shirt?"
Olivia-"now?"
Coach-"technically i can make my decision to sign you whenever i want so yes, now"
She takes me to a room where my shirt is
I instantly fall in love
Olivia-"c..c..can i?"
Coach-"you can put it on if you want"
I waste no time
My mum's are teary eyed
Lucy-"im so so so proud of you"
I turn around so the cameras can get a photo
Coach-"and that is you fully signed Olivia, welcome to the club"
I shake her hand
Olivia-"thank you so much"
We leave
Mama and mum waste no time in giving me the biggest hug ever
Lucy-"OUR LITTLE SUPERSTAR!"
Olivia-"IM SO EXCITED!"
Keira-"i bet you are, i remember when i first joined city"
Lucy-"so do i, i remember when your mama first joined"
Keira-"you do?"
Lucy-"yes i fell in love with you as soon as you walked in"
Mums phone goes off

We go home and i lie on the sofa. Exhausted
Lucy-"well done you" she taps my knee
Olivia-"thanks mum i couldn't of done it without you and mama"
Lucy-"celebratory pancakes?"

Keira comes in on the phone
Keira-"someones needs a word with you" she says pointing at me
I giggle automatically knowing its leah
Leah-"right you, not only did you not tell me you had a trial but now you told instagram before me
Olivia-"no, man citys instagram told you before i did
Leah-"oh shush anyway im proud of you, and the woso tiktok is wild now"
Olivia-"because of my shirt"
I look down sadly
Lucy-"dont worry about it, let them think what they want, i have what i want"
Olivia-"okay, anyway bye leah ill talk to you soon"
Leah-"bye liv, so proud of you"
She blows a kiss and puts the phone down
Mum comes in with her pancakes
There the best pancakes ever
Olivia-"thanks mum, thanks mum and mama, for everything" I say leaning into them
Keira-"dont thank us"
Olivia-"no no i need to, i would never be here, if it wasnt for youse"
Mum kisses my forehead and we eat our pancakes and take a photo together
Keira-"lu, later can i speak to you please"
Lucy-"yeah course everything ok?"
Keira-"yeah dont worry im just wondering something"
