Inspired by one of the story lines from the movie, "Love Actually" (Great movie by the way, my favorite!)

Gary angrily kicked away snow as he walked through Viridian City. It was winter, the snow was falling softly, and Christmas was just around the corner. This should've been a great time of year. He should've been happily drinking coco with his girlfriend in their shared apartment, not kicking down every snowman he came across in anger.

Gary had just gotten back to his apartment and found his girlfriend Lena in bed with her best guy friend. He broke up with her on the spot and stormed out without a second thought. No bag of clothes, no essentials, nothing. All he had was whatever he kept in his backpack for travels and his team of pokémon.

He needed to get away. But not Pallet Town. He was sure his sister or grandpa would happily house him until he found a new place. But damn, Lena's betrayal hurt. He needed to get away. Gary kept walking but pulled out his phone. There were a few regions he hadn't been to yet. Maybe he could check one out just for a few weeks. Then he could go back home and celebrate Christmas with his family.

Gary's eyes landed on something interesting. Paldea? Why not? Sounds interesting. Gary immediately booked a flight and a vacation rental to stay at. He scoured the internet and found a house that looked nice in Los Platos. And it looked like there was even someone there who would take care of the cleaning and housekeeping each day for an extra charge. Again, why not? Gary was there for vacation, might as well pay a little extra for housekeeping.

After a quick trip to his childhood home to pick up spare clothes and pretty much anything else he needed, Gary had boarded a plane set for Paldea.

Paldea was warm and inviting. Even as he stepped off the plan, all the locals were so kind to him and assisted him in navigating to his rental in Los Platos.

The small town of Los Platos was exactly what he needed. It was way different compared to the hustle and bustle of Viridian City. Even the wild pokémon around seemed so relaxed. Gary felt every bit of stress and anger melt away with every moment he had here. And as soon as he stepped foot in his rental? Completely gone.

The small cottage he was renting had an open concept with large archways that flowed nicely. Outside was a beautiful Veranda that led to a pool. Gary opened the sliding glass door and stepped outside. The sun shown down warmly, although he did admit he missed the snow already. He'd just have to wait till he went home for Christmas to experience that.

Gary brought out one of his pokéballs, and tossed it up to release the pokémon inside. His Umbreon stretched out and immediately rested on the warm stone and started sunbathing. Gary smiled at the sight.

A knock sounded at the door, and Gary was brought out of his daydreaming. Confused, he went to open the door, where two women were waiting. One was an older woman, and the other was a young woman sort of hiding behind the older one, so Gary couldn't get a good look at her. He saw something purple at the corner of his eyes. He looked down to see an Espeon at the women's feet.

"Um, hello?" Gary asked. The old woman smiled, "Hola! Gary, sí?" "Um yes that's me." "I am Marta, I am the one renting the house to you." "Oh! Hi! Thanks again for letting me live here for the next few weeks." Gary grinned. "Well, I am here to introduce you to mi nieta. Her name is [Name]. She is going to be the housekeeper while you're here." The older woman moved away, and Gary finally got a look at the younger girl.
