~60k Oneshot Special~

(A/N: Here it is! The 60k Oneshot Special! The idea came to me while rewatching the trilogy the other night. I hope you lovelies like it! Now, on with the oneshot!)

       I was sat with my teammates at the North Stars game, just itching for the game to start. I was seated in between Fulton and my crush, Adam. Adam was new to our team, having previously been a Hawk but I'd had a crush on him for years. I had felt bad about having a crush on him because of the way he used to treat my friends but since he joined us as a Duck, it turned out he was really kind and sweet.

       "Excited?"

       I was pulled from my thoughts by the sound of Adam's voice. He was looking at me with a knowing smile. I matched his grin as I nodded, fidgeting in my seat even more.

       "It's my first time seeing a professional game." I told him, blushing slightly.

       Adam nodded in understanding. "I remember that feeling. I've been to quite a few games with my dad and older brother. You're gonna have a great time!"

       Before I could respond, the crowd roared as both teams skated out onto the ice. The Ducks and I all joined in as we cheered for the North Stars. It was going to be one heck of a game.

       The buzzer rang signaling the end of the second period, both teams clearing the ice. I stretched in my seat, releasing some of the tension that had accumulated in my muscles from watching the tense game. I saw, out of the corner of my eye, Guy take Connie's hand and internally squealed for my friend. She had a crush on Guy and I was happy to see them having a moment together. It did make my heart hurt a little as I wished that was me and Adam.

       My attention was caught by a love song being played over the loud speaker and the words 'KISS CAM' coming up over the scoreboard. I watched as an older couple's faces shown on the screen and smiled when they gave each other a quick kiss. Another couple appeared on screen and eagerly kissed. I felt a tap on my arm and turned to the tapper.

      "Do you want to get something from the concession stand?" Adam asked.

       Before I could answer him, I heard hooting coming from my friends. I whipped my head up to the screen again, expecting to see a couple going overboard with their kiss but was shocked to see my own face on the screen...along with Adam's. I stared at the scoreboard with wide eyes before turning back to face Adam. His eyes were just as wide. I looked down in embarrassment.

       "Oh, um..." I started to say, a blush spreading across my cheeks. All eyes were on us. My heart was beating in my ears. I anxiously licked my lips and looked up at Adam again. 

       "Uh, I'm going to get a drink." Adam said, quickly.

       Like a shot, he was out of his seat and up the stairs. I felt my heart nearly stop as I watched him go. I had to stop the tears that threatened to fall as I watched the 'KISS CAM' screen move on to a different couple. I looked at the other Ducks to see them giving me sympathetic looks. 

       I spent the rest of the game in the bathroom with Connie, trying to stop the tears that seemed determined to fall.

       Coach Bombay took us all home in the van after the game. Connie made sure I wasn't seated next to Adam but instead next to her and Guy. When we got to my house, I was quick to get out of the van and head to the front door of my apartment building.

       "Y/N! Wait!"

       I turned around to see Adam following behind me. I was confused as to why he was out of the van, seeing as his house wasn't anywhere near mine. He came to a stop in front of me, a sheepish look on his face.

       "Look about the 'KISS CAM'..." He trailed off.

       "It's okay. Really. You didn't want to kiss me and so you didn't. No biggie." I said, trying to sound nonchalant when I was dying inside.

       "That's just it. I did want to kiss you." Adam said, eagerly.

       My heart was beating in my ears again. "What? Then why did you-"

       "I got scared. I really like you and when our faces were up on the screen, I just...freaked." Adam said, hanging his head in shame.

       "...You like me?" I asked, my brain latching on to the little tidbit of information.

       "Yeah." Adam admitted.

       I smiled at him. "I like you, too."

       Adam's face lit up with a bright smile. The next thing I knew, his lips were on mine for a brief yet very nice kiss. It was better than I could have ever dreamed it. I could hear the other Ducks hooting from the van as we pulled apart. 

       "So, does this mean we're together?" I asked.

       "If you want to be." Adam said.

       "I do." I said, grinning.

       "I do, too." Adam said back.

       We leaned in for another kiss but were interrupted by Bombay honking the horn of the van. We both just blushed before saying our good byes. I went inside and let out a squeal the second the door shut. It was one of the best nights of my life.
