(A/N: This oneshot was requested by thelocalmirrorball. I hope you like it! The song in the title is a reference to the song of the same name by Wilco. Now, on with the oneshot!)

I was awoken by the now familiar sound of crying over the baby monitor on my side table. I blearily blinked my eyes to wake myself up a bit more as I looked at the clock. 2:41 AM. This was the third time tonight that my beautiful baby girl had woken me. Her being only 3 months old meant that this had become a routine but that didn't mean it was any easier leaving my nice warm sheets in the middle of the night in December. A slight groan came from beside me.

"Sounds like a 'diaper change' cry." I sighed softly. I was about to toss the covers off but my husband, Guy, beat me to it.

"I got 'er this time, baby. Go back to sleep." He said, stretching briefly as he made his way to our bedroom door. Normally I would take a minute to admire the way his back muscles move as he stretches but I was just too exhausted. I gave him a quiet 'thank you' as he disappeared into the hall.

Before Savannah was born, I was a total night owl but now I was lucky to make it to 9:00 PM. Both my mother and Guy's mother had warned us just how tiring it would get but we had assured them we knew and that we could handle it. But as we'd found out 'knowing' and knowing were two very different things. I lay there in bed, eyes closed but not quite falling asleep, just in case it actually was a 'hungry' cry.

"It's okay, Savannah. Daddy's here." I heard Guy's soft voice over the baby monitor. The tenderness in his voice whenever he spoke to our daughter never failed to make my heart swell with love. By now Savannah's cries had quieted down to pitiful whimpering as I heard soft shuffling noises. "There we go. Nice and dry! Now let's get you back to sleep, baby girl." The slight creak of the rocking chair sounded and soon after his beautiful singing voice filled my ears.

🎶'Go back to sleep now, my darling

And I'll keep all the bad dreams away

Breathe now, think sweet things

And I'll think of all the right things to say'🎶

I couldn't help the smile that spread across my lips. I'd always loved Guy's singing voice. He was very self conscious about it when we were younger so he'd only really sing when the other Ducks weren't around. Now, though, Savannah's lullaby had become part of her nightly routine and I couldn't be happier about it. It was a song by one of Guy's favorite bands. The lyrics and the melody made for a perfect lullaby. My heart squeezed in anticipation of the next part in the song.

🎶'Because we made you, my darling

With the love in each of our hearts

We were a family, my darling

Right from the start'🎶

There was more shuffling noises over the monitor that I recognized as Guy putting Savannah back in her crib. "See you soon, baby girl." Guy whispered to our daughter. I laughed knowing that one of us would be seeing her soon as she'd wake a few more times during the night. As Guy came back to bed, I rolled onto my side to face him.

"Thank you." I said in a whispered tone.

He looked at me with a curious face. "For what?" He asked.

       "For everything." I said back.

Guy smiled at that and leaned forward to give me a quick peck on the lips. His arm wrapped around me, bringing me in close. I fell back to sleep with the sound of Guy's heartbeat in my ear. One of my favorite ways to fall asleep.
