(A/N: This oneshot was requested by MinerFortyNiner. I hope you like it! The song in the title is a reference to the song of the same name by David Bowie and Queen. Now, on with the oneshot!)

I quietly ate my lunch in the corner of the cafeteria, sandwich in one hand and a book in the other. I usually spent the time by myself since my limited number of friends don't share the period with me and with my bad social anxiety, it was just easier. I was deeply involved in the story before me when I felt a presence beside me.

"Sitting by yourself as usual eh, Y/N?"

I sighed and discreetly rolled my eyes. It was Jesse Hall. A popular jock who was on a now famous hockey team known as the Ducks. He had spent the previous summer with the Ducks in California playing in the Goodwill Games. Everybody knew him. And for some reason, he'd chosen to bother me for the third time this week.

"You really should broaden your horizons instead of hiding behind that book like you always do." Jesse said before taking a bite of his lunch. I just turned the page in my book and ignored him. We sat in silence for a few minutes before he spoke again. "You need friends."

"I have friends." I said, quietly.

"Oh, so you can talk!" Jesse said with a mischievous smile.

I made a sour face at him and gathered my things, intent on moving to a new spot. Before I could get far, I noticed Jesse gathering his things too. I looked at him confused before my look changed to one of surprise as he grabbed my wrist.

"Come on. We're going to sit with my friends." Jesse said, starting to drag me over to the Ducks' table.

My anxiety level immediately skyrocketed. I knew most of the Ducks in passing but sitting with them and interacting was more than I was ready for. I started to struggle against Jesse. He turned to look at me confused but I ignored his expression, intent on getting free from his grasp.

       "Y/N? What's wrong?" Jesse asked.

My breathing was becoming labored and I was starting to sweat. I needed to get out of here. I wrenched my arm out of his grasp and quickly made my way out of the cafeteria. I ran to a nearby janitor's closet and shut myself inside. I tried to catch my breath but I was having trouble. The door to the closet opened abruptly and in came Jesse.

"It's okay, Y/N. Just breath." Jesse said, putting his hands on my shoulders.

I thought his touch would make things worse but it strangely grounded me. I started to feel my breathing slow and the tension start to leave my shoulders. My anxiety level was lowering at a rapid pace which I didn't expect.

"Just relax. You're safe. Everything's okay." Jesse's voice soothed.

His voice was like magic. My anxiety was just melting away. Pretty soon, I felt almost back to normal with just a little bit of lingering anxiety.

        "There. Feel better?" Jesse asked.

I nodded. "T-thank you." I said with a small smile.

Jesse smiled back and held up my lunch bag. I looked at it in surprise, just now noticing that I hadn't had it with me. In my rush to get out of the cafeteria I must have left it behind.

"Let's try this again. Would you like to come and sit with me and my friends? They're really nice. I promise!" Jesse said, handing me my lunch bag.

I nodded again, feeling more prepared this time that he was asking instead of just doing. And this time, he grabbed my hand instead of my wrist. As we walked back to the cafeteria, I couldn't help but notice how perfectly our hands fit together. It felt nice. And when we reached his friends, he didn't let go.

(A/N: Thanks again to MinerFortyNiner for the request! I hope you liked it! Requests are open for the rest of December so send yours in when you can! That's all for now! Until next time! Thanks!!)
