(A/N: This oneshot was requested by ziviore. I hope you like it! The song in the title is a reference to the song of the same name by The Beatles. Now, on with the oneshot!)

It had been nearly three days since I'd last talked to my boyfriend, Adam. It just seemed like every time I tried, he was busy with his new teammates. He even cancelled our date last minute to hang out with them instead. Things like that had been happening more and more now that he had moved to the varsity team and away from me and the Ducks.

As I walked into school, I noticed Adam standing with the other varsity members at Rick Riley's locker. I smiled and went to walk up and say good morning to my boyfriend when suddenly they all turned and started to walk to class.

"Adam!" I called out. I held up my hand in a wave.

I watched as he turned back to me and started to walk in my direction but one call from his teammates and he was turning back around. He shot me an apologetic look over his shoulder but didn't make any other moves.

I slowly lowered my hand. I went to my locker and then to class. I didn't see him for the rest of the day.

As I walked out the front doors of the school, I saw Adam standing against a nearby wall. I ignored him and continued on my walk to the parking lot where my ride was waiting for me.

       "Y/N! Wait!"

I turned around as a hand landed on my shoulder. There stood Adam with a sorrowful look on his face. I readjusted the strap of my backpack over my shoulder before crossing my arms over my chest, waiting for him to speak.

"Y/N, I'm sorry about earlier. I wanted to walk you to class but the guys-" Adam started but my scoff cut him off.

"I get it, Adam. You don't have to say anything." I said, looking down.

       "Y/N-"

"No really, Adam, it's fine. You just like spending time with varsity more than me." I said, shifting from foot to foot.

"That's not it, Y/N. It's just the team takes up a lot of my time. Things will settle down soon." Adam tried explaining but I just shook my head.

"It's been a month, Adam, and I've barely seen you at all. I just don't see how we can be together and you be on varsity at the same time." I said, finally looking back up at him.

"What are you saying, Y/N, that it's us or varsity?" Adam asked, a look of disbelief on his face.

A silence settled between us. We stared at each other before I finally answered.

       "Yes."

"Y/N, I can't just abandon the team. People are counting on me. The team, my dad-"

"But you can abandon me?" I asked, cutting him off again.

"That's not what I meant!" Adam said, raising his voice.

"But it's the truth, Adam!" I said, just as loud.

A few passersby turned to look at us and we both blushed in embarrassment. Adam grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the parking lot and into a nearby corner.

"Y/N, I know things are bad now but things will get better. You just have to trust me." Adam said.

I looked up at him, unshed tears in my eyes. "I'm sorry, Adam, but it's not enough."

"No, Y/N, please don't cry. I'm sorry. Please." Adam said, resting his hands on my shoulders.

I quickly reached up and wiped the unshed tears away. "You have to choose, Adam. It's either me or varsity."

"Y/N..." Adam said, squeezing my shoulders. "I-I can't just give up this opportunity."

I gulped, more tears coming to my eyes. "Then I guess I have my answer."

       "Y/N-"

I reached up and gave Adam a quick kiss on the cheek. "Goodbye, Adam." I wrenched myself out of his grip and ran back to the parking lot.

       He didn't chase after me.

(A/N: Thanks again to ziviore for the request! I hope you liked it! Requests are open for the rest of the month so send yours in when you can! That's all for now! Until next time! Thanks!!)
