(A/N: This oneshot was requested by zbansks. I hope you like it! The song in the title is a reference to the song of the same name by Taylor Dayne. Now, on with the oneshot!)

"Hey!" I said as I swung my front door open.

My boyfriend, Adam, was standing there on the front porch with his hockey bag slung over his one shoulder and his overnight bag over the other. My parents had finally allowed us to have a sleepover in the living room and I was beyond excited.

"Hey." Adam said with a clipped smile.

I gave him a confused look at his tense smile but stepped to the side to let him inside all the same. I knew Adam was looking forward to this as much as I was so the tense smile was surprising to me. Shrugging it off, I grabbed his hand and led him into the living room.

"Okay, so, I got everything set up. All the snacks are on the coffee table, drinks are chilling in the fridge, and the movies are ready to be popped into the VCR." I said, showing him my set up. "Now, we have to sleep on separate sofas as per my agreement with my parents but we can snuggle until it's time for bed."

Adam just nodded and set his bags down. He flopped down on the one sofa and held his arms open for me. I let out a giggle before nearly throwing myself into them. I snuggled into his side and happily sighed.

"How was practice?" I asked, looking up at Adam.

        "It was..." Adam trailed off.

        "It was what?" I asked.

"I don't really want to talk about it, Y/N." Adam said, quietly.

I turned to face Adam completely. He had a pained look on his face that had me on alert immediately. "Are you sure, Tiger? You know you can tell me anything, right?"

Before I knew it, Adam was crying into my shoulder, throwing his arms around me.

        "Adam, wha-"

"I can't do it anymore, Y/N! I can't be on varsity anymore! They're a bunch of stuck up snobs who hate everyone I care about!" Adam cried.

I didn't know what to do except immediately take Adam into my arms. I held my boyfriend as he sobbed, making gentle shushing noises to try to calm him as best I could. Adam wasn't big on showing his emotions so this was a big deal.

"Oh, Adam. I had no idea things were this bad!" I said, bringing my hand up to cup his head.

"I hate this! I hate being on varsity! I hate being away from you and my friends! I just hate it!" Adam cried, his body shaking with sobs.

"Shh, it's okay. I got you now. You're okay." I said, trying to soothe my broken boyfriend.

Adam cried for another few minutes before his sobs turned into hiccups. He still clung to me with nearly all his strength but he seemed a lot calmer than he was.

"Adam, you got to talk to Coach Orion. Maybe he'll let you back on JV. Just tell him it's not working out with varsity and you want to come back to the Ducks." I said, patting his back.

"I can't do that, Y/N. I can't just go back to JV." Adam said, pulling away from me to shake his head.

"Why not?" I asked, wiping away one of his remaining tears.

"Because! A lot of people are counting on me! My teammates, my coach, my dad-"

"Screw them! Adam, your happiness is more important than any expectations any of those douche canoes have." I said, taking his face in my hands.

With watery eyes, Adam let out a small chuckle. "Really? 'Douche canoes'?"

"That's the nicest thing that comes to mind when I think of them. Trust me." I said with a chuckle of my own.

Adam sniffled but laughed all the same. He leaned forward and gave me a light peck on the lips. "You really think it'll be that easy?"

"I really think so." I said with a nod of certainty.

As it would turn out, it wouldn't be that easy. But we would cross that bridge when we got to it. For now, we were content to snuggle on the sofa and watch movies. We wound up falling asleep in each other's arms but thankfully, my parents didn't make a big deal about it.

(A/N: Thanks again to zbansks for the request! I hope you liked it! Requests are currently closed but will open again in no time! That's all for now! Until next time! Thanks!!)
