(A/N: This oneshot was requested by MinerFortyNiner. I hope you like it! The song in the title is a reference to the song of the same name by LOVA. I know I usually do older songs but I think this one fits best. Now, on with the oneshot!)
I walk up the long pathway to the main building of my new school. I was a mid-year transfer to Eden Hall; my parents thought I needed a fresh start. A year ago, I'd been in a car accident that left me scarred both physically and emotionally. I just wasn't the same person I used to be and my parents thought a change of scenery would help me get back to being me. I wasn't sure anything would help but I went along with it anyway.
As I walked into the building, I was greeted by a big crowd of meandering students. It was just about time for classes to start so I guess most of the crowd was stragglers. I silently made my way through the crowd, ignoring the stares that always seemed to follow me since the accident. As I passed a big group, someone bumped into me, causing me to drop the papers I was holding. I sighed and bent down, not expecting the person to bend down as well.
"Sorry 'bout that. You alright?" The guy asked.
I noticed his glasses first before I noticed his eyes. I expected him to be staring at my scars but he was looking into my eyes, something that had become a rarity for me when dealing with people. I took in the rest of him and found myself blushing slightly. 'He's cute.' I thought to myself.
       "Yeah." I said back, quietly.
"Gotta be careful in these hallways. Real safety hazard." The guy joked, handing me one of my papers that he picked up.
I didn't smile but I didn't exactly frown either at his joke. "I'll take your word for it." I said, taking the paper.
"I'm Lester. But everyone calls me Averman. You new here?" The guy, Averman, asked.
"Yeah." I said again. I wasn't sure what else to say really.
Before I even got the chance to think of something, the warning bell rang for homeroom. Averman's group started walking again and he went to join them. I restarted my walk down the hallway towards the main office when I heard Averman's voice again.
"Hey! I didn't catch your name!" He called out to me.
"I didn't throw it." I called back before he and his friends disappeared around the corner.

Over the next few weeks, I saw a lot of Averman. We had most of the same classes and one of the only seats left open was next to him in most of those classes. I quickly learned why. This guy loved to talk. He talked all about his friends, hockey, his job at the movie theater, anything that came to his mind. And, surprisingly, I was having fun listening.
"My friends and I were thinking of sneaking into the school's pool this weekend. Would you want to join us?" Averman asked me one day before class.
I subconsciously pulled my sweater closer around myself as the thought of being in a swim suit around other people filled my brain. Since the accident, I'd been having huge body image issues due to my scars from said accident.
