(A/N: This oneshot was requested by Kittywynter. I hope you like it! The song in the title is a reference to the song of the same name by Dolly Parton. Now, on with the oneshot!)
Periods sucked. It was a fact of life. And right now, my life sucked. A groan left my lips as I curled in on myself even tighter. My cramps were in full effect after waking up with a need to change my underwear, pants, and sheets. Of course I had to get my period on the day I was supposed to spend the day with Dean and Fulton.
The sound of my phone ringing from my bedside table caught my attention and I debated whether to answer it or not, knowing my mom would get it if I didn't. I decided to just get it knowing who it probably was.
"Hello?" I asked, holding back a groan as a particularly painful ache shot from my lower back.
"Y/N! Dean and I are on our way to yours so be ready to go in, like, 10 minutes." Fulton said, excitement evident in his tone.
I grimaced as I uncurled myself a bit to sit up properly. "I'm sorry, Fult, but I think we're gonna have to reschedule. I'm not really feeling up to going out today."
"What's the matter, Y/N? Are you sick or something?" Fulton asked, his excitement replaced quickly with concern.
"Or something..." I trailed off, hoping he would get the hint.
"What'd you like, break your leg?" Fulton asked.
I hung my head. He didn't get it. "Fult, what comes at the end of a sentence?"
"...a parole?" Fulton asked.
"Dude, she's got her period, you idiot!" I heard Dean say from the other end in the background.
"Oh...oh." Fulton said, finally getting it. "Are you okay?"
"I'm-" I was cut off with a groan as another cramp wracked my lower half. "-fine."
"You don't sound fine." A new voice, Dean, said.
"Okay, maybe not fine but I'll be okay eventually. And I don't wanna stop you guys from having fun today so go out and I'll be with you guys in spirit." I said, laying my head in my propped up hand.
"Are you sure, Y/N?" Dean asked.
"I'm sure. We'll all go out next weekend, alright?" I said, a sad smile on my lips.
"Well, okay. See you later." Dean said, with Fulton yelling a 'bye Y/N!' in the background.
"See you later." I said, sadly.
I hung up the phone and curled back in on myself in a tight ball. Periods really did suck.
~~~
I must have fallen asleep because next thing I know, there was a light knock on my door.
"Come in, Mom." I called out, sitting up as I wiped my eyes.
Instead of my mom, however, both Dean and Fulton entered my room, each carrying a shopping bag. Surprised to see them, I sat up and fixed my hair as best I could with my hands.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked, cocking my head to the side.
"Well, we've heard from the period havers in our lives how much they suck..." Dean started as he came and sat down on my one side.
"So, we decided that we weren't gonna let you suffer alone." Fulton finished, coming to sit on my other side.
"But what about the day out that was planned?" I asked.
"Eh, like you said, we can do something next weekend." Dean said with a shrug.
"Yeah. We'd rather be with you, Y/N." Fulton added.
I smiled at their kind words and couldn't help myself when a few tears came to my eyes.
"What's the matter, Y/N?" Fulton asked, alarmed by my tears.
"We can go if you want us to! We didn't mean to make you cry!" Dean said, pulling me into a side hug.
"No, no. You didn't. It's just..." I trailed off with a sniffle. "You guys are so sweet."
I heard them both breathe a sigh of relief, knowing they weren't the cause of my tears. I chuckled at their reaction and wiped my eyes.
"So...what's in the bags?" I asked.
They responded by shoving the bags into my hands. I looked in the first bag and found a whole bunch of VHS tapes, all my favorites. I looked in the second bag and inside were my favorite snacks, drinks, and a final item that made me laugh out loud.
"You guys actually bought me Midol?" I asked, holding up the small bottle.
"It was suggestion from Connie." Fulton said, looking away with a blush on his cheeks.
"Yeah, just be thankful that we love you so much." Dean said, a similar shade of red on his own cheeks.
"Aw! I love you guys, too." I said.
I wrapped an arm around each of them and brought them in for a group hug. They happily accepted. After we let go, Fulton got up and put in one of the VHS tapes into my TV with a built in VCR while Dean spread out our snacks and drinks. When Fulton came back, the three of us smooshed together on my bed, watching the previews before the movie.
Periods sucked. But they just might be bearable if I had my Bash Brothers with me.
