Coach Orion blew the whistle, signaling the end of practice. As we all made our way off the ice, I couldn't help but notice Fulton's absence. It had been such a weird day. During first period this morning, Fulton had been called to the office and I hadn't seen him since. The others didn't know where he went and I was starting to get worried.

"It's not like Fulton to just disappear without saying anything. Has anyone seen him?" I asked as I tied my shoes.

"You mean you didn't hear?" Charlie asked, pulling off his skates.

"Hear what?" I asked back.

"Y/N...Fulton's grandfather died." Charlie said, solemnly.

My heart felt like it fell out of my butt. "Oh. Oh, no." I said, quietly. I stared at Charlie for a few seconds before springing into action. I quickly grabbed my things and was out of the locker room in a flash.

I ran out of the building as fast as I could. Fulton had been really close with his grandfather. He had been sick for a while but it seemed like he was getting better the last Fulton mentioned it. I couldn't even imagine how Fulton must be feeling right now.

As I ran in the direction of Fulton's apartment building, I passed Duck's pond. There was a single person out on the ice and that made me stop in my tracks.

'Fulton.' I thought. As I got closer, I could hear quiet crying. My heart just about broke.

I slowly walked out onto the ice, making as much noise as I could so I didn't surprise him. He quickly whipped around when it was clear he heard me.

"Y/N..." Fulton said. He skated over to me slowly, wiping his eyes as he came right up to me.

"Fult...I'm so sorry." I said.

Just like that, Fulton crumbled before me. He started crying again full force and wrapped his arms around me. I was quick to grab hold of him to keep him upright. I held him as he sobbed, whispering soft words into his ear.

"It's okay, Fulton. I got you." I reassured him.

We stayed like that for who knows how long. Finally, Fulton started to calm down enough for us to make our way off the ice and onto a nearby bench. We sat in silence while he got his breathing under control.

"I'm sorry." Fulton said.

"What are you sorry for?" I asked, surprised.

"For crying like that. You must think I'm such a baby." Fulton said, sheepishly.

"No. Don't apologize for that." I said. I wrapped my arms back around him and he wrapped his around my waist. "You cry as much as you need to."

Fulton nodded and buried his face into my neck. I felt his hot tears fall onto my neck as he quietly cried again.

"When's the funeral?" I asked.

"Next Thursday." Fulton whispered. "Will you...will you go with me?"

"You couldn't keep me away. I'm here for you, Fult. Whatever you need." I said. I meant it too.

"Can we just sit like this for a while?" Fulton asked.

"Whatever you need." I reiterated.

We sat together in the cold for a good hour. Neither of us said much but it wasn't needed. I was just glad I was there to comfort him when he needed it. Just like I knew he'd be there for me if I needed him.

(A/N: Thanks again to thebashbros for the request! I hope you liked it! It's a bit short but I like it. Requests are open until the end of the month so get yours in while you can! That's all for now! Until next time! Thanks!!)
