(A/N: This oneshot was requested by Miah438. I hope you like it! The song in the title is a reference to the song of the same name by Gladys Knight & The Pips. Now, on with the oneshot!)

       It was late at night and I could feel the distance between me and my boyfriend, Luis, as we sat on the couch in the dorm common room. Not just the physical distance, as we were sitting so far apart, but the emotional distance that had been going on for a while now. Ever since I had caught Luis with Mindy a few months ago, I could feel him slipping away.

       "So, what do you want to do this weekend?" I asked, crossing my legs nervously.

       Luis just shrugged his shoulders and looked away from me.

       "W-we could go skating. Or we could rent some movies and curl up in your dorm-" I listed but was cut off by Luis turning to me.

       "Y/N..." Luis said but trailed off.

       "Y-yeah?" I stuttered.

       "We need to talk."

       I could practically feel my heart falling out of my butt as I saw the look on Luis's face. There was no way this was good news. "Okay."

       "Look, I know we've been going out for a long time now but...I've been seeing Mindy for the past few weeks." Luis said, his gaze wavering when he said her name.

       "Oh." I felt my eyes start to water. "I-I thought it was over between you two. You said it was a one time thing."

       "It was...until it wasn't." He said, still not looking at me.

       "Don't you love me?" I asked, tears freely falling.

       "I do." Luis said.

       "Do you love her?" I asked.

       The silence settled over us like a blanket. I sat there, tears running down my face. This was my worst nightmare come true.

       "Yes." He finally said.

       I sniffled and wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. "Then you have to choose. Me or her."

      Another silence settled over us. The fact that it was just the two of us in the common room made the silence deafening. I squirmed in my seat as I waited for his answer. 

       "If I have to choose..." Luis trailed off again.

       As I waited, I thought back to our first day at Eden Hall. How happy we were.

       Luis and I walked hand in hand, making our way through the halls to the auditorium. We joined the crowd of students and I squeezed his hand tighter as we got jumbled around.

       "There's so many people! I don't know how I'm going to find any of my classes!" I said, with a nervous laugh.

       "Don't worry, mi amor. I'll be with you every step of the way." Luis said, squeezing my hand back.

       "Good." I said, feeling more secure.

       And true to his word he was there for me all day. From class to class, he was there with me. If he wasn't in the class with me, he'd pick me up afterwards. We ate lunch with the Ducks and enjoyed each other's company. When we finally got back to the dorms after hockey try outs, we were so exhausted that we just about collapsed on his bed. We fell asleep soon after, locked in each other's embrace.

        "...I choose Mindy."

       My breath caught in my throat. I shook my head in denial. 'He didn't just say that.' I thought to myself. But as I looked at his face, there was no denying it. He had chosen. And it wasn't me.

        I didn't know what to do or say. All that came out was a quiet 'okay.' before I was up and off the couch. I ran down the hallway to my dorm and crashed through the door. I fell on my bed, the tears coming constantly now. My roommate tried to calm me down but it was no use. My heart was broken.
