winning with averman (requested)

(A/N: This oneshot was requested by homee4tbp. I hope you like it!)

       It was the middle of our game against Edina and I was...in the penalty box. An Edina player had gotten fresh with me so I checked him a little harder than was necessary. After receiving praise from the Bash Brothers, I was escorted to the penalty box, closely followed by Averman. 

       "Don't worry, Y/N. I'll get 'em for you!" Averman said as the door to the box closed.

       "I know you will, Muppet. Now go play! I'll be back before you know it!" I said back, cheekily blowing him a kiss. 

       He beamed at me before skating back into the game. 

       "What's the matter? Big bad defenseman can't handle a little shove?" Averman asked as he circled the Edina player.

       "Nice trash talk, Ducky!" The Edina player said.

       "Really? 'Ducky'? That's the best you can come up with? Did your mommy help you with that?" Averman asked.

       The Edina player just ignored him and soon enough, they were both refocused on the game.

       Minutes later, I was still in the box but I had great entertainment. Averman had been trash talking the guy who got fresh with me the whole time I was out.

       "Just keep talking, Four Eyes, we'll see who comes out on top." The Edina player sneered.

       "Wow, 'Four Eyes'. Haven't heard that one since the fourth grade. You really are a witty one, aren't you?" Averman asked, a smug grin on his face.

       "Shut up!" The Edina player yelled back.

       "Good come back!" Averman sassed. 

       Just then, the puck came shooting their way. Averman quickly snagged it and made his way to the Edina goal. He deked to the left and the goalie jumped the wrong way, letting Averman score! The siren went off and the fans cheered in the stands.

       "That was for Y/N." Averman said, passing the Edina player.

       Finally, my time in the box was up and I eagerly jumped back onto the ice. I skated up to Averman and threw my arms around him. In lieu of a kiss, we knocked out helmets together with the promise of more later.

       We wound up winning the game but the real victory was the look we got from the Edina player as we finally got our kiss.
