Alex's POV
I don't know where I plucked up the courage to come to Tita Liandra's house without Amara's knowledge.
"Good morning po! Sino pong hanap nila?" The house helper asked when she opened the gate for me.
"Nandyan ba si Ma'am Liandra?" Tanong ko.
"Uh--opo. Sino po sila?" Nag-aalangan niyang tugon.
"I'm Alexander, fiancée ni Amara. I was wondering if I could see her mom?"
A few minutes later, the same helper came out and signalled for me to come in so I followed her inside the mansion. She took me to the garden where Tita Liandra was supervising the garden maintenance.
"Trim those bushes there." She commanded while walking around in her elegant, designer, ruby red house dress.
I flashed a hesitant smile as she walked towards me. "Good afternoon po." I greeted, my head slightly bowed down.
"Good afternoon, what brings you here?"
"Uh--I brought some fruits po." I showed her the fruit basket that I carried all the way here.
She murmured 'thanks' then called one of the helpers and instructed her to bring the fruits to the kitchen.
"Uhm..it's just me today po. Amara is busy with...wedding preparations." I answered.
She nodded. "Yeah, she mentioned that you proposed."
I cleared the lump in my throat, because I feel so nervous.
"I'm sorry po if we--if I...if I didn't ask for your blessing beforehand. But please do know that I respect you as Amara's parent and my uhmm...soon to be mother-in-law. It's just, everything happened so quick." I kept on stuttering and almost choking on my own saliva.
She shrugged her shoulders. "It's fine. Matatanda naman na kayo, my blessing and approval would be irrelevant already." She smirked before turning around.
I took a deep breath and I tried to composed myself. Beads of sweat began forming on my forehead as the feeling of inferiority took up my whole system.
"Gusto ko lang po kayong personally i-inform about the wedding. Amara would love to see your presence there. Kahit hindi niya sabihin, I know she's hoping for you to be there on her special day." I said, almost pleading for her to come.
She turned around to face me again, this time with a smile. "I'll be there, and extend my congratulations to my daughter. Congratulations to the both of you."
"Thank you po."
There's this strong tension in the air the entire time that we're talking.
Sometimes I wonder, if Amara's gonna get married to someone that Tita Liandra likes, would she react differently?
