Sa Bawat Araw (Edited Version)

A New Year

Alex's POV

It's early in the morning and my wife was nowhere to be found in our villa. However, she left a text message naman, saying that she'll be at the beachside right in front of our hotel.

I got up from the bed to freshen myself up before following my wife outside.

Even in the midst of tourists and crowds having their morning strolls, I immediately saw my wife sitting on a blanket spread on the sand, her arms around her bended knees, pressing them to her upper body.

I made sure that it was really my wife before I went up behind her. "Good morning, gorgeous." I whispered as I planted a kiss on her cheek. She flinched when I came up behind her but calmed when she heard my voice.

"Good morning!" She turned her face to the side to look at me, and smiled.

The ombre of orange and yellow hues are shining against the side of my wife's face, as if the beauty of the sunrise wants to mix with the beauty of her face.

"Why are you here?" I asked as I sat behind her, keeping my arms loosely but caring-ly snaked around her neck.

"I wanted to watch the sunrise, saka gusto ko ring makalanghap ng fresh morning breeze."

I didn't reply, and just let the silence engulf us for a few minutes. The skies are slowly lighting up, signifying the start of another beautiful day, just like how yesterday's good news signifies a new start to our lives.

"Yeah, kahapon lang namin nalaman." That's Amara, talking to her sister over the phone. Hindi na nga ginalaw ang pagkain mula nang tawagan siya ng kapatid niya. Guess they missed each other so much, can't blame them though.

"Uh-huh, the baby's around 2 months pa lang kaya hindi pa kita mapapadalhan ng sonogram or audio file ng heartbeat niya. Haha!"

I would feed Amara from time to time para makakain rin siya habang magkausap sila ng kapatid niya.

"Nandito sa tabi ko, why?" Tumingin sa'kin si Amara habang pinapakinggan ang sinasabi ng kapatid niya sa kabilang linya.

She handed me the phone and said, "Kausapin ka raw."

I took the phone and held it up to my ear. "Hey! What's up?"

"Congrats, Kuya! Finally! Mabuti naman at naisipan niyo nang bigyan ako ng pamangkin ulit!"

Natawa ako sa sinabi niya. "Kaya nga umuwi ka na para magkita na kayo ulit ng Ate mo."

"Awww! Miss na ba ako niyan?"

Tumingin ako kay Amara at bahagyang natawa dahil nakanguso sa'kin habang ngumunguya ng pagkain. "Oo."

"Hindi pa kasi ako sure sa schedules ko, super hectic dito. With all the responsibilities of being in charge of the operations sa abroad branch, talaga namang sumasakit ang bangs ko! Matagal ko na ring pinaplanong umuwi pero laging nasisira ang plano. Gusto ko kasing kapag umuwi ako, for good na. Promise, next time, surprise-in ko si Ate."

Amara and her sister has a tight bond that still stands strong even if they're at the far ends of the world. Wala man 'yang connection ng ilang araw, buwan o taon, malapit pa rin sila sa isa't isa at hindi nawawala ang close relationship nila.

2 days has passed and now, it's the last day of the year. I'm actually so excited to spend it here! Nakakapanibago na magbabagong taon ako na maraming kasama, at masaya ang pakiramdam.
