[EDITING]
you took a polaroid of us,
then discovered,
the rest of the world was black and white,
but we were in screaming color,
and I remember thinking
are we out of the woods yet?

GREENE FARM 📍
season 2, episode 13 (finale: part 1)
Rick looks up from Shane's body to glimpse towards me, he notices the confused look on my face and gulps in guilt. I pressed against my wound harsher, tightly closing my eyes and biting my lip as I fought the urge to scream.
"God..." I slurred as I stumbled on my feet, my arm going numb due to the flashing pain I was experiencing. My eyes blinked close, the air in front of me misting due to my heavy and quick breaths. Carl was stood beside me, his tearful eyes widening in worry as he noticed my current situation.
"Nola? What happened?" Carl questioned me worriedly, his voice wavering. Rick quickly grabbed my arm, wrapping his arm under my armpit to keep me from falling. Rick then muttered for Carl to walk back towards the farm, Carl hesitantly doing so while turning his head every second to make sure I was alright.
"Is she bit? Are you bit?" Carl questioned the two of us as we tried to quickly walk, my right hand still tightly placed on my wound as I could feel the blood seeping through the hole quicker. Rick grunted as I almost fell face first on the grass, a cry leaving my lips as I had accidentally push the bullet deeper in my flesh.
"No." Rick muttered towards his son as he held me upright, his grip tightening around my waist instead. Carl looked up towards me, as if he were asking me the question as well. I let out a a shaky breath and shake my head.
"No, I was shot." I distantly told him, my voice trailing off. Carl then quickened his pace while sending looks of concern towards me, Rick's sniffling and heavy breathing the only thing I'm truly able to hear.
"Shane was bit." Carl told us lowly, Rick slowly turned his head towards his son in guilt.
"That wasn't Shane. You know that." Rick spoke out roughly, I didn't bother turning towards the two Grimes as they were obviously truly emotional from the death of their close friend.
"Used to be." Carl whispered, It would be in this moment I'd place a comforting hand on Carl's shoulder but was unable to due to me unable to move my upper body from its current position, too scared to move incase I would be filled with anymore numb boggling pain.
"What happened? You guys attacked?" Carl questioned the both of us quietly, neither of us reply as we continued to make quick steps towards the Greene house. "I mean— I heard gunshots, but I didn't see any walkers nearby." Carl continued, obviously wanting to know the specifics on what happened. Rick kept his eyes ahead of him, determined to get me and his son to safety.
