[EDITING]
you took a polaroid of us,
then discovered,
the rest of the world was black and white,
but we were in screaming color,
and I remember thinking
are we out of the woods yet?

season 3, episode 13
I blinked my eyes open as I heard a soft cry coming to my right, I slowly sat from the bed to glance down at the baby crib beside me. A tired sigh left my lips as I leaned down to grab Judith, her whines only growing louder.
As I looked outside I noticed the sun just beginning to rise, reminding me that Rick, Daryl, Hershel, and I had to attend a discussion with the Governor. Everyone tried to tell me not to go, but I knew I had to. He was expecting me not to go, I knew he was.
Once I held Judith in my arms her cries ceased, only small gentle babbling coming from her as I stood to my feet. I used the light from the sun to make my way out of my cell, quietly walking past the cells to make it outside the cell block to prepare a bottle for her.
I held Judith in one arm while tirelessly preparing a bottle for her, my eyes frantically blinking as I tried to remove the morning fuzziness from them. Once I finished making her bottle I sat on one of the cafeteria chairs, putting the bottle in the newborn's mouth.
From behind me, I could hear quiet footsteps enter the cell block, my head slowly turning to see who decided to join me. Of course, a smile grew on my face at the sight of Rick Grimes. He had his hand on his belt as he made his way towards the two of us, his smile on his face.
"Good Morning." He said softly, sitting in the seat next to me to stare down at his baby daughter.
"Mornin'," I repeated, my voice filled with a rasp. My droopy eyes looked down at the small child in my arms, her eyes opened a sliver as she peered up at the two of us.
I bit my bottom lip, letting out a sigh of sadness as I remembered that I'd have to be separated from her in a few hours from now. My head then turned over to Rick, his eyes never leaving mine.
"She could start stayin' in my room. So you can start gettin' more sleep." Rick offered with a shrug. I sent him a confused look, shaking my head in response.
"What? No way. I'd miss her too much." I cooed out toward the girl, her eyes momentarily widening before shrinking back to its original size. Rick cleared his throat, looking away from the two of us suddenly.
My eyebrows furrowed at his behavior, it was strange that Rick was just now getting lost in his thoughts. Instead of thinking much about it, I looked back down at Judith, noticing she had finished her bottle.
I placed the empty bottle on the table, moving Judith to rest on her shoulder so I could burp her. She rested against me, making quiet coos in my ear causing me to smile. Beside me Rick sighed, tapping his fingers against his knees nervously.
