season 5, episode 13

Today was my first day working at the clinic in Alexandria, and it was also the first time I'd meet the head doctor– Pete Anderson. I still didn't know much about the man, but I knew today would be the day I'd learn more about him.

Unfortunately, I had to wake up very early in the morning– which I hadn't done since everything started. The sound of the alarm clock felt foreign, causing me to jolt up from a restless sleep. I slammed my hand on the object, shutting it up immediately as I rubbed my eyes.

I dressed quickly, putting on a light pink button-up that fit loosely around my abdomen with the sleeves rolled up, along with a pair of comfortable jeans. As I put on my tennis shoes I felt Rick stir beside me, his arm moving to wrap around my waist.

"You're up early," he murmured tiredly, his eyes slowly fluttering open.

I sighed with a small smile, slowly turning to face the man. "First day at the clinic," I replied softly, leaning down to kiss his naked cheek. "I'll see you later. Have a good day,"

Rick hummed knowingly, his body relaxing against the comfortable mattress. "Good luck. You'll do great,"

My hand gently patted his bare chest, my movements slow as I stood from the bed, making my way toward the bedroom door. I took a deep breath, offering Rick one last glance over my shoulder before opening the door and walking out.

It was a day since I had the ultrasound, and the group decided to settle in the second house as well. Rick and I took the master bedroom, Carl took a room, Judith had a room, and Michonne, Carol, and some of the others spent some time here as well.

Having an actual bedroom was a little strange, it almost made me forget about everything behind the walls of the community. But deep down, it was the only thing on my mind.

Everyone was worried about Alexandria making us weak– considering most of the residents here had been here since the beginning, they hadn't had to fight the creatures that took over the world.

My steps were slow as I walked down the sidewalk, the morning sun blaring down on me. The streets were quiet, Alexandria still wrapped in the embrace of dawn. I made my way to the clinic, my hands shaking in nervousness yet excitement.

As I approached the clinic, I saw Denise walking up the porch steps as well, my face lighting up as I jogged toward her. "Denise, hey!" I called out, causing the woman to twist her head, a smile on her face.
