season 4, episode 1

A bright shining light shone on my closed eyes, a soft sigh escaping me at the warmth of the morning sun. I stirred from my peaceful slumber, the feeling of soft fingers gently brushing my hair behind my ear, rousing me from my sleep.

With a tired moan, I blinked away the remnants of sleep from my eyes, my head tilting up to see Rick standing beside me, his eyes soft with affection.

At the sight of my awakeness, Rick smiled, slowly crouching so his face was in front of mine. His hand paused its movements on combing my hair, instead moving to cup my cheek gently.

"Hey," He greeted me with a whisper, his face leaning closer to place a wet kiss on my cheek. I hummed in response, squeezing my eyes closed to remove the remaining blurriness.

"Hey, what time is it?" I mumbled tiredly, letting out another groan as I continued to stir. It was then I heard a soft crunching, my body jolted upright to see a familiar candy wrapper laid on my pillow.

A soft gasp escaped my lips at the sight of the Snickers bar, my hand hesitantly moving to grab the chocolate in shock.

As I held the bar in my hand a bright toothy smile grew on my face, my head shooting up to see Rick staring down at me with nothing but admiration.

"What's this?" I laughed in awe, my eyes squinted in pure joy.

"A gift," Rick replied quietly, his face leaning forward to place another soft kiss on my other cheek. I let out a breathy squeal in excitement, pushing him away playfully.

"You said you've been cravin' one, so before Michonne left I told her to try and find one," He continued gently, resting his hand on my thigh lovingly.

It was then the smile on my face dropped, my lungs forcing a sharp intake of breath. I awkwardly cleared my throat, trying to cover up the sudden shift in my expression.

As Rick's words echoed in my mind, a sense of unease settled over me heavily. If Michonne had returned to deliver the Snickers bar, it could mean... she possibly brought other stuff.

I swallowed hard, trying my best to remove the thoughts that swirled in my mind. I stole a quick glance toward Rick, his features etched with a mixture of confusion and happiness.

"Michonne is back?" I asked quietly, trying my best to mask the anxiety that began to consume me. Rick nodded in response, his finger pointing toward the candy bar.

"Yeah, just got back while I was workin' with Hershel," He informed me, letting out a sigh as he sat on the bed beside me.

Through these last 6 months, Hershel and Rick had gotten closer, the two of them working on the crops and the farm animals. Rick had decided to put down his gun temporarily, along with being a leader.
