you took a polaroid of us,
then discovered,
the rest of the world was black and white,
but we were in screaming color,
and I remember thinking
are we out of the woods yet?

a few hours later...
Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, and Purple were the main colors on the horizon as we walked along the tracks. Each color melted into each other beautifully, creating a memorizing image.
The bright colors cast a strong hue on my face, illuminating my sharp and soft features. As we walked along the tracks, I was lost in my thoughts, thinking of everything that had happened– it was the only thing I could think of.
Instead of thinking of the prison, of Judith, and Hershel, I thought about Terminus– a new opportunity, a few ways of life. I thought of Maggie and Beth, praying they'd be there, and convinced myself they were.
They'd go there, right?
"Look," Carl suddenly said excitedly, his steps coming to a halt as he pointed his finger toward the woods. I spun my head around to face him, my hands on my hips as I breathed tiredly.
My eyes instinctively squinted as I moved my body in the direction he was pointing, my hand covering my face. As I followed Carl's gaze, I spotted something in the distance, a small house.
The house was wooden, obviously old and worn but still held up strong. At the sight of the building, I snapped my head over to Rick, the warm glow of the sun on his face as he stared through the thick trees.
To my left, I could hear Michonne's feet shuffling on the ground, her body moving right in my vision. Rick's tired eyes lingered on the house, his expression thoughtful but unreadable.
I bit my lip as I thought as well, it was almost dark and we needed a place to stay for the night. It wouldn't be safe staying out here all night, but would it be safe in that building? Who knew what was in there, walkers, humans, anything?
But at the same time, I didn't want to spend all night out in the dark.
"Maybe we should check it out," I suggested, my brows raised as I stared up at Rick. At the sound of my voice, Rick turned his head and licked his lips slowly, still lost in thought. "Just for tonight."
With a bit of hesitance, Rick wagged his head up and down slowly, a heavy sigh escaping him as he pulled his Colt Python from his holster. "Alright. Let's check it out," He replied, turning to face the three of us.
"Stay close, and keep an eye out," Rick instructed his voice steady but tinged with caution. We nodded in response, slipping out our weapons as we stood timid steps towards the building.
As we approached the wooden house, I held my Colt Frontier in front of me, my neck turning every few seconds to ensure a walker wouldn't sneak up on any of us. Rick moved ahead of the group, his body twisting around the house for any threats.
