[EDITING]
you took a polaroid of us,
then discovered,
the rest of the world was black and white,
but we were in screaming color,
and I remember thinking
are we out of the woods yet?

season 6, episode 7
It had been a day since Glenn, Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham went missing, and there had been no signs of them anywhere. Maggie and I watched all night and all morning, looking for any signals from Glenn.
But there were still none.
I could tell Maggie was beginning to lose some hope, but she didn't leave the tower, her green eyes sharp as she scanned every area. All I could do was stay with her, knowing she would do the same for me.
As soon as it hit 10:28 am, I was forced to leave my spot, followed by a trembling and mumbling Denise as she begged for my help. I followed after the woman, making my way inside the clinic.
The recent attack left many injured, and with Denise and I being the only doctors left, it was more difficult and stressful than before. But being inside the clinic, somehow calmed me, making me forget about the herd of walkers pushing against our walls and that the key members of our group were missing.
Hours passed in a blur as I cleaned multiple wounds, administered medicine, and offered comfort to those who needed it. Denise worked beside me as well, though I could feel the weight of her gaze as she watched me.
"Sorry for leaving you alone in the clinic these past few days, it's been... stressful. How are you holdin' up?" I asked the blonde as I closed the door of the medicine cabinet, my eyes briefly meeting hers.
Denise gave me a small, tired smile, her eyes reflecting the strain of the past few days. "It's been tough, but I'm managing," she replied, a heavy sigh leaving her. "I understand why you had to be out there,"
I nodded, appreciating her understanding. "Thank you, Denise,"
The woman nodded as well, but as I turned my head, I couldn't help but still see her staring at me. I swung my head back around, my head tilting to the side in confusion. "You sure you're okay?" I murmured in concern.
"I kissed Tara," Denise suddenly spewed out, her eyes widening at her confession. I blinked, taken aback by her sudden confession. Denise's face flushed, and she bit her lip nervously.
"That's... well, that's somethin'," I said, my voice gentle. "How do you feel about it?"
She gulped anxiously, her blue eyes lightly widening at my question. "I don't know. I've never... been with a girl. But I mean, I like her. A lot. I... I think..."
"You think?" I snorted, a small smile forming on my lips.
"I don't know!" she exclaimed with a groan, her hands clapping over her face in embarrassment. "She's just so... and I'm... we..." Denise paused, taking a deep breath. "I like her. I do. But I've never... been with a girl–"
