FIVE WEEKS LATER (29 weeks pregnant — 7 months)
Five weeks had passed, and these five weeks were both stressful and exhausting, yet rewarding. For the first time in a while, I was relieved by the news I received from Michonne when she returned to Alexandria from Hilltop.
Weeks ago, Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Oceanside decided to ambush the Saviors and their outposts. At first, the attacks had been risky but with the help of everyone, the allied communities began to gain the upper hand, weakening Negan and the Saviors.
During the long decisive battle, Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Oceanside, finally defeated Negan's group, capturing him and the remaining Saviors. Jesus took the real Negan, keeping him and his main people prisoner while Ezekiel kept the remaining Saviors prisoner– seizing their weapons.
The end of the war brought a sense of peace over me and everyone else that we hadn't felt in months. All the communities were finally freed from the grip that Negan had, and we were all finally able to do as we pleased without the fear of the Saviors watching us from afar, waiting to take our belongings or kill our people.
We were all finally able to continue rebuilding the world into something livable, Abraham was thinking of constructing some bridges that would easily lead us to more towns that surrounded us. Glenn, Aaron, and Daryl found more supplies and were even able to save horses along with hogs to create a farm.
Sasha and Abraham were now officially a couple, though it wasn't a secret to most of us. Rosita at first was disheartened by the news, but with the help and support from Tara and Eugene, she moved on and started dating other people.
I was mostly surprised to hear that Carol and Ezekiel were in a relationship, but it was happy seeing Carol happy after everything she had been through. Daryl– being her best friend, of course– tried his hardest to get between the both of them, anxious that Ezekiel would do something to hurt her.
But I think we all knew Carol could take care of herself.
Through these past weeks, Carl had been hanging out more and more with this girl Enid, who was practically a daughter to both Maggie and Glenn. Carl had shared some of her story with us, telling us how and why she had ended up in Alexandria.
It didn't take long for Rick and me to realize that Carl had a small crush on the teen girl with how he would talk about her and the amount of times they hung out. I was happy to know that the 14-year-old had someone to hang out with other than me or his father, and I was excited to see more of Enid in the future.
Maggie and I were finally planning a small, beautiful, and intimate wedding for me and Rick. Of course, Rick was aware of our planning and he helped with what he could. The ceremony would be held at the church in Alexandria, a simple but beautiful setting that would be full of our friends and family. We decided on a date weeks after the war ended, giving enough time to prepare and invite everyone we could.
