Finally after what feels like an eternity, the train stops and we all grab our cases off of the cargo compartment.
We wait to get off the train and when we do the chill of the January evening air hits me but it's not entirely unpleasant.
We head to one of the carriages and hop in so we can get to the entrance of the castle.
When the castle comes into view I am yet again taken away by it's beauty. I stare at it in awe.
We finally reach the Great Hall, and good thing too because I am absolutely famished, but I also hope I manage to find myself seated near Lily.
We sit in our usual seat and as if the world is working in my favour, I'm sat right next to Lily.
"Hey" I say and she stiffens at the sight of me, looking around for another place to sit
"Look, I'm not going to make you talk this out now so meet me in the Astronomy Tower after hours" I add
"Alright" she says, and that seems to be the end of our conversation which disheartens me slightly but I make no comments and turn back to my friends.
Dumbledore stands at his lectern which causes all attention to fall on him and for the room to fall silent.
"Happy New Year! And welcome back! The feast will begin soon but first I have something to announce" Dumbledore begins
"Whether it has come to your attention or not, there are dark forces at work that are on the rise and thus the teachers and I have deemed it important for us to help train you to defend yourself. Each day of the week will be assigned to a year group and on the evening of that day that year group will gather in the great hall to practice a new defensive spell with both Professor Flitwick and Professor McGonnogall. These will start on next Monday. Mondays are for First years, Tuesdays for Second Years, Wednesdays for Third Years, Thursdays for Fourth Years, Fridays for Fifth Years, Saturdays for Sixth Years and Sundays for Seventh Years. The sessions will run from 8pm until 10pm and then the year groups will be escorted back to their common rooms" Dumbledore continues
This announcement causes a murmur of chatter to start amongst the students which Dumbledore quells by clearing his throat.
"We will be sure to keep you posted if things grow more serious but for now everything else will run as usual. And with that, let the feast begin!" Exclaims Dumbledore.
Chatter erupts amongst the students as food appears along the tables and we all tuck in.
Later on, I wait until everyone has left the common room and I head to the Astronomy Tower.
To my surprise, Lily is already there.
"Hey, Lils" I say softly as I sit next to her on the edge of the tower, admiring the stars with her.
"I was never very good with astronomy, but I've always found the stars to be really pretty" I say casually as I crane my neck, trying to see as much of the stars as I can. "They're always so visible here, you can hardly see any in London, it's a shame really, I'd never properly seen stars until I came to Hogwarts, it's one of my favourite things about this place" I continue after Lily says nothing
"What did you want to talk about?" Lily asks, getting straight to the point.
"Why did you leave earlier on the train?" I ask
"I didn't mean to say I love you, at least not yet" Lily admits
"But why not?" I ask
"James, I know you're not over Regulus, and in a way I don't completely expect you to but I can't sit here and tell you I love you knowing you don't quite feel the same just yet"
"But I do"
"What?"
"I do love you, I have done for years"
"But you're not in love with me"
"I don't think I ever really stopped being in love with you. The way I love Regulus is different. I felt a connection with him, or at least I think I did. I was infatuated with him, I think our relationship only really worked sexually, when we tried to have an emotional connection we would just end up arguing. He was right to end things really now I look at it. I didn't treat him the way he deserved to be treated and he wasn't always his best to me, he was always better than me in our relationship but we both had our flaws. But with you it feels emotional, it feels right, easy even. I'm attracted to you physically and emotionally. I've always been attracted to you, I don't think there'll be a time where I'm not. I do love you, Lily, I always have, I always will"
Lily stares at me, practically dumbstruck at my confession. She leans in and kisses me.
We move away from the edge of the tower and stand up.
I pull her close to me and deepen our kiss. My hands roam her body as though they were exploring her for the first time. I run my hands through her hair as her tongue invades my mouth. She pulls my hips to her and grinds herself against me, causing me to strain against my red checked pyjama bottoms which I'm sure she can feel.
"Shit, sorry" we hear someone say which causes us to stop and pull apart from each other.
I find myself pulling away from a kiss with Lily Evans and staring at my ex boyfriend Regulus Black. I didn't think there would be a scenario in which this would happen and yet here we are.
Lily walks over to Regulus and takes his hand, guiding him over to me.
"How about we try something new" Lily suggests, a mischievous expression on her face as she leans in to Regulus and kisses him. I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this, but I don't object.
After a minute Regulus pulls away from Lily and I expect him to be outraged, but instead he pulls me in for a kiss. He grinds his hips against me and I can feel how hard he is through his trousers.
He removes my shirt and kisses down my body, as he does so, Lily moves behind me and kisses the nape of my neck and along my shoulders as she snakes her arms around me and unbuttons my trousers, she pulls them down from behind and searches for my shaft with her hand. She wraps her hand around it and pumps me whilst Regulus is leaving a hickey on my collar bond, causing me to moan out.
I then turn around to face Lily, stopping her hand from working it's magic and I remove her top and her jeans. I kiss her as I take one of her nipples between my forefinger and my thumb which causes her to moan.
She moves away from me and turns her attention to Regulus. She falls to her knees as she unbuttons his jeans and takes them off before taking him in her mouth. Regulus moans and curses as Lily's head moves back and forth.

When Lily climaxes she takes Regulus out of her mouth, Regulus then takes this opportunity to kiss me, pushing me down onto the floor. I lay on my back and Regulus takes me in his mouth, causing me to gasp, moan and swear as he moves his head back and forth. "I-I'm going to go" Regulus says as he redresses
"Regulus, wait" I say as he walks away.
I hurriedly redress and follow Regulus out of the Astronomy tower.
I catch him on the stairs and grab onto his arm, he turns to face me "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have participated" Regulus says
"Did you not want to? Were you not okay with it?" I ask worriedly
"No, no it's not that I was fine with it, it wasn't against my will" Regulus replies
"Then what's wrong?" I ask
"Lily asked me to stay away from you" He admits
"What?"
"On the train she found me and asked me to stay away from you. She's worried if I'm an option for you then you won't love her the way she loves you"
I stand in silence for a moment, thinking of what to say, processing what he just said
"We talked about that earlier" I finally say "I reassured her I love her" I add
"Do you?"
"I do"
"So you're over me?"
"I wish I was"
"How can you love her and not be over me?"
"Just because I love you doesn't mean I'm in love with you, Reg"
"No, I suppose not"
"I think part of me will always love you"
He smiles sadly at me and nods "I think that part of me will always love you too, we just weren't made for one another, we're two pieces from different puzzles"
I nod slowly, unable to meet his eye. He lifts my chin with his forefinger so I meet his eye. He leans in and kisses me. I kiss him back. It's a slow, loving kiss. We savour it, neither of us wanting to leave this moment, both of us wanting it to last forever, or at least a while longer.
"Do me a favour" Regulus says when we finally pull away from one another
"Anything" I reply
"Don't tell Arlo about this, avoid him if you can"
"Is he a bit jealous?"
"a bit is the understatement of the year"
I smirk "is it bad that boosted my ego a bit?" I ask
"Not at all" Regulus replies with a grin.
"Are you sure you were okay with that?" I ask
"I promise" He replies
"Alright then. Goodnight, Regulus"
"Goodnight James" he kisses my cheek and turns to continue his descension of the stairs, I head back up to the Astronomy Tower.
"Do you think Regulus would want to do that regularly?" Lily asks when I return
"He didn't seem opposed to it" I reply. She nods.
I kiss her and smile, holding her face in my hands "Lily, will you be my girlfriend?" I ask
She stares at me blankly, almost in shock at the question, but then her face breaks out into a beaming smile and she nods at me, kissing me excitedly "yes!" she exclaims happily as she kisses me once more
