TW: Mentions of violence and death

THE DAILY PROPHET

The Death Eaters and notorious new evil Wizard Lord Voldemort have attacked Tower Bridge, sending tens of vehicles into the River Thames, causing nearly hundreds of fatalities. The Wand-Happy Wizards then moved on to nearby restaurants where they injured multiple muggles and caused several more fatalities. The Ministry of Magic no doubt has their hands full with this most recent attack, having to obliviate every onlooker whilst also fixing both the bridge and all restaurants that have been ransacked.
The question now must be, can the Minister for Magic continue to ignore the chaos that is ensuing the wizarding world? Or will he finally address the situation and take action? Perhaps the Minister's time in office should come to an end

I stare down at the Daily Prophet in front of my and exhale heavily.
"What's written in there today?" Asks Sirius.
I hand him the paper and immediately, his face drops
"Read it out for us, Pads" Remus states "makes it easier for all of us instead of playing pass the parcel with the paper" Remus adds.
Sirius nods and reads the paper from headline down to the bottom of the article.
"Well shit" Remus comments
"So eloquently put, Moony" Peter remarks
"You know me, Wormy, I always add a classy tone" Remus replies with a smirk
"That's our Moony" I state with a smile
"So, what do we do?" Asks Sirius
"Honestly, I'm not sure, I suppose we wait to see if Dumbledore mentions it" I reply
"He has to, surely" Peter states
"It would be hard to ignore it" Sirius agrees
I feel the sense of overwhelming anxiety consuming me once more. Dumbledore said it would get more serious, and it has just got a lot more serious. He Who Must Not Be Named is moving quickly, he's got an ego now, it seems like there's no going back.
"I, erm, I have to go" I say almost absentmindedly as I stand up
"Want us to come with?" Asks Lily who has been mostly quiet this whole time. I shake my head
"No, I have a free first period, I'm just going to get some stuff done, I'll see you later, though" I reply quickly before pecking her on the cheek and saying goodbye to the rest before I walk out of the Great Hall.
I decide to head to the Astronomy Tower, I know no one will be using it, because classes happen at night and usually in the summer term.
When I get to the Astronomy Tower I walk over to the open wall and sit on the edge. I look out at the grounds and it looks so peaceful. The weather is brightening up, the sun is out and there are a smattering of clouds. It's not too cold, but it's not quite warm yet. It's nice. Calming.
"James?"
I turn and find Regulus standing in the doorway
"Regulus?" I ask
"What're you doing here?" He asks
"I could ask you the very same" I reply pointedly
"I asked first"
"I just needed somewhere to...decompress"
"Decompress?"
He sits down next to me, quite close actually. I swallow thickly as I feel his knee against mine.
"Yeah, did you read the Prophet this morning?" I ask
He stiffens and exhales heavily "Yeah" he replies mournfully
"This whole war thing is...heavy"
"You can say that again"
"When did it all go wrong?"
I turn to look at him and my breath hitches. He is so beautiful. He's not looking at me but the way that his hair falls down to his eyebrows and curls in certain places, his jawline, his lips. Him. He's so...I feel guilty having these thoughts. I do love Lily, I would never want to hurt her, but I don't think I'll ever not find Regulus Black attractive.
What did he call us? "Two pieces of the wrong puzzle" or something like that? If only our puzzle could have been complete. If only he was the missing piece in my puzzle.
I shouldn't think like that it's not fair.
"What?" Asks Regulus, now looking at me
"Nothing you're just...you're beautiful" I reply almost dreamily, still staring at him.
"James" Regulus warns
"You are. It's a fact really" I reply
Regulus dips his head to hide his face but I catch his chin in my hand and lift his head up to look at me. His eyes are so deep, there's so much in them.
"Please don't ever hide, especially not from me, I want to see you, all of you, all the time. You should never hide what's beautiful in this world, Reg. In an ugly world, you are the beauty, you are what's beautiful, you are what makes this world bearable" I say
Regulus looks as though he's barely breathing. He leans in close to me, my heart is pounding. Merlin I want to kiss him. I shouldn't, but I want to.
Regulus captures me in a kiss and I melt into it almost immediately.
The kiss is short lived, though, as we both break away almost as soon as the kiss began.
"I shouldn't" Regulus begins
"Neither should I" I reply
"You just- you were being so nice and I- I'm sorry" Regulus stumbles
"Don't be sorry, I- I wanted you to" I admit
"Look, it's between us, okay?" Regulus assures me and I nod
"It's just that...well, I think part of me will always be yours, whether you want it or not, part of me belongs to you."
"James, don't say that"
"I mean it, Reg"
"James, you're killing me here"
"Look, you have Arlo, and I have Lily, we're happy, I'm not looking to cheat on my girlfriend, I love her, but I know that you'll always have a part of me, you were my first love, no one ever forgets their firsts. In a world full of wizards, you're my bit of magic, Regulus"
Regulus runs his hands over his face "If you had have been able to show me this sort of love and sensitivity when you were my boyfriend, we wouldn't have broken up"
I sigh and nod "I know, I'm so sorry, I was awful. I tried, I promise I did, I just viewed things in black and white I suppose, I couldn't understand how someone could be in an evil situation but not be evil. I don't know how best to explain it. I've learned now, but I learned far too late and I'm sorry, it shouldn't have taken losing you for me to better myself, I just hope Arlo loves you the way I wish I did"
"You'll always have a part of me too, you know? You were never a bad boyfriend, you just didn't always act in the right way, neither of us had everything figured out, both of us are better now, we both bettered too late. You were my first too, James, my first everything, and I will forever be grateful that it was you."
"I want to kiss you, and because I want to kiss you I have to go, because I can't claim to be a better man and then be unfaithful" I say
"Thank you, James, for being better when I wouldn't have been" Regulus replies
"You would have, love, I know you would" I state with a smile before leaving.
Later on after lessons are over, I'm sat with Lily in the Gryffindor Common Room, the two of us alone together on a windowsill, overlooking the Black Lake, spending some time together before dinner.
I'm sat with my back against the wall and my legs outspread with Lily sat between my legs, her back against my chest.
"How would you feel about an open relationship?" Asks Lily
I quirk a brow "I'm sorry, love, I don't know what you mean by that" I reply, running my fingers through her hair
"We stay together but sleep with other people as well as each other" Lily explains. I furrow my brow as she traces shapes on the arm that's wrapped around her waist.
"What makes you ask?" I ask
"I want to experiment" Lily replies, shrugging
"Experiment?" I question
"Well, you're the only person I've really been with and I'm not entirely sure I'm only in to men, and the only way I'll be able to confirm that for myself is experimenting" Lily replies
"Has anyone caught your eye?" I ask curiously
"Well, Mary and I have been spending a lot of time together" Lily replies
"I don't have an issue with it, I don't think, can we close the relationship at any point?" I ask. Lily nods.
"Of course, I would never do anything you're uncomfortable with" Lily replies
"I don't think I have an issue then, you should be able to explore your sexuality, I don't want to hold you back from doing that and I trust that if you begin to lose feelings for me you'd end what we have and let yourself be happy"
Lily turns to look at me and smiles "I love you" she says and I return her smile.
"I love you too" I reply before dipping my head down to kiss her.
"Gross" Sirius comments as he walks over to us
"Don't be jealous, Padfoot" I reply with a smirk
Lily gets up off of the windowsill and I follow suit. "Ready for dinner, lads?" I ask and they nod at me.
Me, Lily, Sirius, Remus and Peter all head down to the Great Hall for dinner.
When we sit down, Dumbledore is already stood at the lectern, so the Great Hall is already quite quiet.
"Silence, please" Dumbledore demands and instantly, the Hall falls so silent you could hear a pin drop.
"I'm sure by now you have all read the Daily Prophet. This most recent attack is far more serious than the last. This one means that Lord Voldemort is growing stronger along with his following. I believe that attacks will soon become more frequent. These are dangerous times, and the war will be upon us far sooner than we anticipate. Many of you may question whether there will be a war and to this I will answer your question: these attacks simply cannot go without consequences, these attacks cannot be ignored. If the ministry will not take action, then we must. These Dark Arts are not ones we want ruling our world. Dark Times are upon us, and we must work together, we must team up in spite of our differences. Friendship, love and unity are important more now than ever. We will fight this war, and we will win. I, of course, respect everyone's belief, and whatever side you choose will not be held against you, but I must make my side clear, I do head the Order of the Phoenix, and I do have every intention of keeping the wizarding world safe, whether you agree with me or not. I must do what is just and I must do what is right. Of course, the current state of our world must be distressing to most if not all of you, and I must remind you that myself and the teachers here at Hogwarts care not just about your education, but also about your wellbeing, should any of you wish to talk to any of us I cannot stress enough the open door policy we uphold. Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it" Dumbledore states seriously.
Even when he finishes his speech, the Great Hall remains mostly quiet, there is some quiet chatter, but that speech has really brought down the mood.
In light of this speech, I find myself searching the Hall for Regulus. When I find him, I see that he's already looking at me. Our eyes meet and we stare at each other for a few moments, unsure of who should look away first. Regulus ends up looking away first, his attention being torn from me by Evan Rosier. I feel disappointed at his lack of attention and so I force myself to integrate back into my own group of friends to stifle the disappointment within me.

Hello there my lovelies!

Okay so first of all: Jegulus<3 I know recently this hasn't seemed like too much of a Jegulus fic because they're both in relationships but let it cook guys. Also, I have seen so many people on tiktok (bc of course I'm on marauders tiktok) saying that the fandom is misogynistic and that most Jegulus shippers hate on Jily or disregard or demonise Lily. I want to preface that I am a hardcore feminist and have no intentions of being misogynistic, if there is any sign of misogyny or harmful stereotypes in this fic, please call me out on it because it most certainly is not intentional, and with regards to Lily, I absolutely love and adore her, I love Jily so much and I also love Jegulus, because you can love both, it is not one or the other. In this chapter I have made James and Lily's relationship an open one, not to justify James and Regulus but I did it because that is how I have characterised Lily, she is a queen who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to ask for it, this is not me disregarding her, she will still be present and important in this fic but I just wanted to make all of that clear.
