James

It's the first self defence session for the sixth years.
We're all stood around a temporary wooden platform, waiting for Professor McGonnogall and Professor Flitwick to begin the session.
"Do you reckon they'll teach us something fun? Or will we be practicing expelliarmus?" Asks Sirius
"Not a clue mate, but if it is expelliarmus that'll be a grand waste of time" I reply
Sirius grunts in response but turns his attention back to the platform as Professor McGonnogall and Professor Flitwick finally arrive.
"Silence!" Profoessor McGonnogall commands and the room does, in fact, fall silent.
"Thank you, Professor" Professor Flitwick squeaks "This evening we will be learning the 'leg locker curse' with the incantation Locomotor Mortis" Professor Flitwick explains "This spell is quite simple really. You outstretch your wand up, flick your arm up, and as you speak the incantation you swirl your wand counter-clockwise before ending the spell with your wand thrust straight out" Flitwick continues before providing us with a demonstration.
"We will now sort you into pairs, each of you will be paired by Professor McGonnogall with someone from a different house" Flitwick concludes which causes everyone to groan in frustration.
Nonetheless, Professor McGonnogall goes around the room and pairs people up.
She pairs Remus with some guy in Hufflepuff called Edgar Holmes and she pairs Sirius with a Ravenclaw girl called Janelle Williamson. She then pairs Lily with a boy in Ravenclaw called Christopher Pegg
Finally, McGonnogall finally gets to me "There is only one other person left, Potter, so that is your pair" says Professor McGonnogall. The last person walks over and to my horror it is Severus Snape
"Are you sure there's no one else I can pair with?" I ask
"Don't flatter yourself, Potter, I'm not exactly pleased about the arrangement either" Severus drawls
"You know, Severus, I'm looking real hard and I can't find where I asked" I deadpan
"That's quit enough of that" Professor McGonnogall scolds firmly which shuts both of us up, but doesn't stop us from glaring at one another "you two are the only ones unpaired, now I hope I can trust that you will be civil about it and simply get on with the task at hand" McGonnogall continues, sounding fed up already, and I really can't blame her. She walks away and I'm left with Severus Snape. Just perfect.
"Do you want to start or?" I ask but he doesn't answer, he holds out his wand "Locomotor Mortis" He states as he points his spell at me. I move slightly and he misses
"You aren't supposed to move" Snape states
"You didn't answer my question" I reply
"Don't be a child, Potter" Snape drawls
I roll my eyes "Fine. Try again" I concede. He huffs and raises his wand once more "Locomotor Mortis" he states. I let the spell hit me and sure enough my legs lock up.
"Well, it works" I state
"Merlin you really are observant aren't you?" Asks Snape sarcastically
"Just rennervate me will you?" I ask exacerbated
"Rennervate" Snape drawls lazily drawing his wand over me to release me of the curse
"Your turn" Snape huffs.
I nod and position myself before raising my wand "Locomotor Mortis" I state and the curse hits him straight in the legs so hard it causes him to fall over backwards. This elicits a few laughs from surrounding pairs which I can assume doesn't bode well with Severus as he scowls at me when I rennervate him.
"Idiot" he mutters under his breath as he pulls himself up off of the floor
"I didn't do it that hard on purpose!" I exclaim defensively
"Hm" he hums disbelieving me "Levicorpus" Snape states.
I've never heard that one.
I'm taken by surprise when I'm lifted into the air by my ankle. My shirt falls down exposing my midriff and torso. I grab my shirt with my hand and pull it down to cover myself up
"What the fuck, Snape? Let me down!" I exclaim
"Yeah, not as fun when you're the one being held upside down is it?" Snape snarls at me
"Just get me down will you?" I ask
"I could, but that would be no fun" Snape replies with a malicious grin
"Severus Snape! Put Mr Potter down this instant!" Professor McGonnogall chastises. Snape groans and lets me down quite firmly. I huff and shake my head "You're such a dick" I state matter of factly. Snape rolls his eyes. Annoyed and slightly angry I aim my wand at him "Stupefy" I exclaim, stunning him. He falls backwards once more.
He manages to recover and pull himself up pretty quickly, he's seething as he raises his wand at me rather menacingly
"Sectumsempra!" He exclaims
What are these weird ass spells?
Suddenly, I'm hit with a blinding pain, as though my skin is being ripped to shreds.
I scream out in agony and fall to the floor. The pain is continuous. There's no release. I feel like someone is slicing me apart with a sword.
"What did you do to him?" I hear Lily shout frantically "Severus, what the fuck did you do?" Lily shouts.
"Severus, what spell did you use?" Asks Professor McGonnogall firmly
"It's one I made myself" I hear Snape reply
"What does it do?" Asks Professor McGonnogall
"I- I don't know" Snape stutters.
I feel someone's hands on my face and I think I see Lily. I can't tell, my vision is blurring. I feel quite dizzy. The pain is still searing through me and I can feel the strain in my voice from the screaming. My ears are ringing and all voices begin merging into one.
Soon enough the world goes black and I can't feel anything anymore.
I wake up seemingly the next morning dazed and confused.
"Where am I?" I ask
"Ah good, Mr Potter, you're up" Madam Pomfrey states airily, handing me a glass "Here, drink, you've been out for fourteen hours, you haven't had a drop of water, you must be parched" Madam Pomfrey adds. She's right, my throat feels like sandpaper.
I gulp down the water gratefully and wipe the excess off my mouth as I place the glass down on the nightstand next to the bed.
"What happened?" I ask
"Mr Snape used quite a nasty spell on you. It caused multiple lacerations across your abdomen. You passed out from blood loss and spent the night here" Madam Pomfrey explains. I groan and lay my head back down on the pillow.
"Miss Evans is here to see you, would you like me to let her in?" Asks Madam Pomfrey
"Yes please" I reply
She nods and walks around the curtain that's pulled around my hospital bed.
Moments later, Lily appears past the curtain and walks over to me, she sits at the side of my bed and cups my face in her hands
"You're okay?" She asks
"I'm okay" I reassure her, placing my hands over hers
She leans over and kisses me softly before she rubs her nose against mine
"You scared the ever loving shit out of me" Lily admits
"I do love to be dramatic" I reply with a grin
"I'm certain you can never be serious" Lily states pointedly and I chuckle which I immediately regret as my skin is still quite tender which causes me to grimace
"There's no fun in that" I reply
Suddenly the curtain moves and Sirius and Remus walk in.
"Oh thank Merlin you're alive" Sirius states breathlessly
"I didn't fucking die, Sirius" I reply rolling my eyes
"You looked dead!" Sirius exclaims
"Honestly, James, he's been beside himself all night, we barely slept a wink and it was not the way I'd prefer to have Sirius keep me up all night" Remus states which causes Sirius to blush and shove him
"Awe, Pads, you can't make me blush, my girlfriend is right here" I say mockingly
"Sorry, Prongs, I just can't hide my feelings for you" Sirius replies
"Get a room" Lily says rolling her eyes
"Don't tempt me, Lily, I would" Sirius replies
"I'm literally right here" Remus states, almost offended
"Yes you look gorgeous, darling, but I'm flirting with James at the moment" Sirius replies causing me to laugh and then groan
"Don't be funny, Pads, it hurts" I state
"Well that's going to be hard for me, I'm a comedic genius" replies Sirius
"Careful, love, your head won't fit through the door if you carry on" Remus warns
"Shut up you love me and my ego" Sirius replies
"I certainly do love you" Remus states
"Exactly" Sirius finalises and Remus rolls his eyes and I shake my head.
"So what actually happened? Sirius and I just saw you being taken away to the hospital wing" Remus asks
"Snape hit me with some spell and it quite literally ripped me to shreds, still haven't got a clue what spell it was" I explain
"I was so mad at him" Lily states
"Do you know how difficult it is to hold back both an angry Sirius and an angry Lily whilst being an angry Remus?" Asks Remus
"Remus, my saviour, I thank you for your services" I reply
"I still have a chance to kill him" Sirius states
"Sirius we've had this chat, we don't kill that's not kind" I point out
"Ripping up your abdomen wasn't kind either" Sirius retorts
"We don't fight fire with fire" I reply
"Don't gentle parent me" Sirius pouts
"It's almost lunch time, are you allowed to come down?" Asks Lily
"I'm not sure, I'll have to ask Madam Pomfrey" I reply
"Did I hear my name?" Asks Madam Pomfrey, popping her head in
"Am I allowed to join the others for lunch in the Great Hall?" I ask
Madam Pomfrey purses her lips and thinks for a moment "Can you stand?" Asks Madam Pomfrey.
I sit up and swing my legs over the side of the bed.
I place my feet on the floor and hesitantly lift myself up so that I'm standing. I feel a bit weak but I'm fine standing.
"You need to take another blood replenishing potion but yes, you can go down for lunch" Madam Pomfrey replies.
She returns minutes later with a vial of potion that I down in one gulp. It tastes metallic but I don't particularly mind.
"Thank you, Madam Pomfrey" I say with a smile.
She smiles and nods at me "Not a problem, Mr Potter" she replies
"Do you guys mind if we head back to Gryffindor Tower so I can change?" I ask Lily, Sirius and Remus who all nod.
On our way out of the hospital wing we're met with Regulus.
"What're you doing here, Reg? Are you hurt? Or sick?" Asks Sirius,  tone of worry in his voice
"No, I- erm, I heard James got hurt, I wanted to make sure he was okay" Regulus says
"You guys go on I'll catch up" I say to them, they nod and walk on leaving just Regulus and I
"How'd you know I got hurt?" I ask
"McGonnogall stormed into the dungeons with Snape and gave us all a lecture on how we shouldn't cast spells if we're unaware of what they do and how it's absolutely unacceptable to attack other students. She announced that Snape was receiving two months of detentions and he has his Hogsmede privileges revoked for the year as well as a letter home" Regulus explains. That is rough, but deserved in my opinion.
"But you're alright?" Asks Regulus
"I'm okay, Reg, thanks for checking" I reply
"Of course, I did worry and I wanted to come and see you last night but I thought you might want to be alone, I'm glad you're okay"
I smile at him and nod "Thanks, Reg. I'll catch you later, yeah?" I say
He smiles and nods at me.
We part ways and I head to Gryffindor Tower to catch up with Remus, Sirius and Lily
