The old hydroelectric power plant

The escape from Henoth am Hausmännin had been swift, but the trek to the old hydroelectric power station took longer than expected. The four agents followed the lone power lines snaking through the dense, unwelcoming forest, partially hidden by the relentless vegetation and the thick haze that clung to the area. The cloudy sky threatened to turn completely dark.

They knew entering Günther's concentration camp, where the missing were held, required careful planning. Officers Andreas Berger and Tobias Fritz had called in an assault team to surround the camp and identify strategic points for infiltration once the power supply was cut.

Moving the troops into position and fine-tuning their strategy had already taken over two hours. The daylight was fading quickly. Liz moved silently through the forest, growing more accustomed to the hostile environment with every step. She was accompanied by Nick, Andreas, and Tobias.

Nightfall was only a few hours away. A cold, dense fog hung over the forest, giving the area a bleak and foreboding atmosphere. Liz felt a strange force tugging at her, as if urging her to turn back.

"Alright," Andreas cleared his throat, calling for everyone's attention. "We're here. Let's go over the plan again," he said firmly. "The assault team is in place around the camp. We've identified the key infiltration points." He turned to Liz and Nick. "Once you cut the power, they'll move in and open the way for us."

"Lieutenant Berger and I will cover you from that building over there," Tobias added, gesturing with a slight wave toward a tall structure by the lake. His voice was calm and measured. "We've set up high-caliber sniper rifles. We'll keep an eye on you, but only as long as you're within range."

Nick nodded, signaling his understanding. Though Tobias' words gave Liz some reassurance, the unsettling feeling of being watched still gnawed at her.

"Wouldn't it be easier to just shut down the entire power supply instead of only cutting the camp's line?" she asked, her brow furrowed.

Nick's expression made it clear he didn't like the suggestion.

"Are you out of your mind?" he snapped, his voice rising. "That would alert the whole damn town. The last thing we need is a full-scale alarm."

"It was just a thought!" Liz shot back, clearly annoyed. "It's going to take time to find the right connection anyway."

Nick glanced up at the power lines disappearing into the trees toward the lake.

"It'll be straightforward," he muttered in a low, icy tone. "Only the sectors around Henoth am Hausmännin and the concentration camp are powered. The low-voltage lines lead to the village we came from. The medium-voltage ones head to the camp, just like the librarian said."

"Alright, fair enough," Liz conceded, gripping her gun. "But what if the camp has a backup generator?"

Andreas and Tobias exchanged a quick glance, hesitating, but Liz's point didn't seem to unsettle them.
