Part 49 : grief and limits.

( pov narrator)

After the battle in the gatekeeper kingdom the lose of sora affected many people. By many she was considered a hero especially from her time fighting in the war against lance but now she was dead. But skylor was hit harder then most.

After the funeral skylor returned to her castle trying to compose her self but nothing was working, to her now she felt lost just like how she saw this war. Soon if the demons kept attacking the last kingdom able to stand up to corves would fall and the end as a whole soon after.

Skylor after spending hours alone unable to keep her thoughts about sora went back to her grave that was in the end of a large garden on the outer parts of the castle. 'Sora the rift blade' was carved in the obsidian grave stone, gems and flowers were around the grave reminding skylor how important she wast.

Skylor "... sora... im sorry..... if i was fully healed sooner... i could have saved you.... You wouldnt have been left alone against corves as you long as you were. I should have.." she looked at the arm corves damaged before , it was now fully healed but skylors emotions still made her feel like she was broken and unable to lead now.

She then heard steps coming towards her from behind, after some time she figured out it was eoin. He walked next to her and joined her looking at the grave.

Eoin " owen also misses her, he says she was his best student. We saw why. She was a good solider."

Skylor " she was more then that."

Eoin " i know. But that doesnt make me wrong, she died fighting to protect us. We have to make sure we win otherwise...she will have died for nothing." Skylor was getting annoyed with him.

Skylor " we arent just soliders eoin. She died when i coudlnt do anything to stop it. She died without a chance to survive that isnt a warriors death.... That was just ...." She couldnt think of the words she wanted to say.

Eoin " it was a sacrifice, to remind us why we fight. So we can end the fight that way the rest of the people in the world will live without fear of war."

Skylor " i know you sacrificed your self for your world but that .... Sora was my friend so it feels different.... I have lost people before but it has been so long and i didnt know them as much as her.... I dont know what i can do."

Eoin put his hand on her shoulder " skylor, she would want you to fight. When some one sacrifices their life in war its so others can continue the fight.... I watched so many of my friends die to protect me.... Orr just to save others and keep the fight going. I could do nothing to save them." Skylor put her hand on top of his that was on her shoulder.

Skylor "... how did you move on?..." she asked him hoping he could help her.

Eoin " i didnt.... I still havent. I remember all of them... rose.... Trigger.....tim........ " he took a pause before letting out another name from his mouth "..foxy " And 1000s more.. i kept fighting because i knew they wanted me to. After i died i felt I lost my will to keep going. But fighting here has reminded me why i fight. So others will learn from my sacrifice and try to never let death on that scale happen again."

Skylor " but it didn't change anything did it? So why bother.... Why bother dying for people who will eventually just forget you and what you did for them and why?" Eoin had asked himself this question 1000 times over.

eoin " when i was at my lowest I also questioned this... i was dying , crippled watching my people die as the war dragged on and i knew we would lose. Then i thought 'all those men died and for what?'... then I remembered they fought for what they thought was right and thanks to other people i cared about who didnt give up on i knew that the greater good was still worth fighting for. And it still is now, if sora was the person you and owen say she was then she understood this."
