Day at Med

Dad: you coming to the district?
Kaylee: Connor said i could help out at med
Dad: you need a ride?
Kaylee: nah I'm gonna walk
Dad: you sure?
Kaylee: mhm
Dad: meds please
Kaylee: taken them already
Dad: alright be safe
Kaylee: mhm
I left the house and made my way to med. I was walking through the park when I saw Freddie.
Freddie: hey
Kaylee: hi. You not at school?
Freddie: nah had a session with Daniel. Connor said I didn't have to go in. What you doing?
Kaylee: suspended. I'm helping at med. you wanna come?
Freddie: sure

We made our way to med
Freddie: what'd you get suspended for?
Kaylee: Carl beat up Zach so I hit him
Freddie: what's his problem with you?
Kaylee: I don't know
Freddie: someone needs to put him in his place
Kaylee: oh what and that's you? I think he's gonna leave me alone now
Freddie: why?
Kaylee: he's my brother
Freddie: what?
Kaylee: he's Monica's kid
Freddie: no way
We got to med and we saw Connor and Will
Will: Connor said you was here today but Fred we weren't expecting you
Freddie: Kaylee convinced me to come
Connor: Frankie's here today. He's been here for the last few weeks. Try cheer him up. It's his birthday today as well
Will: Maggie has some costumes. She's been planning a little something
Kaylee: where is she?
Maggie: I'm right here
Freddie: it best not be some dumbass costume
Maggie: you're gonna be the best dressed superheroes this hospital has ever seen
We followed her to the children's ward. She gave us the costumes. We got dressed
Maggie: ah lemme get a picture
Freddie: it can't go anywhere
Maggie: no promises
She took the picture. Maggie gave us masks to put on and we used some hand sanitizer

Maggie: let's go see Frankie
We went to his room and he looked so down
Maggie: I have people here to see you
Frankie: Kaylee I know it's you
Kaylee: I'm not Kaylee. I'm hulk
I sat down on the edge of his bed and took the mask off
Frankie: Kaylee I knew it was you
Kaylee: how you doing? I thought you were better?
Frankie: it's back
Kaylee: oh I'm sorry kiddo
Frankie: I'm gonna fight it again
Kaylee: you're very strong. You're the strongest superhero
Frankie: I have pneumonia and mama got scared so now I'm here
Kaylee: well it's just to keep you safe
Frankie: who's he?
Kaylee: this is Freddie my cousin
Frankie: hi
Freddie: hi. I hear it's your birthday
Frankie: yeah I'm 6
Mr and Mrs Hernandez walked in
Mrs Hernandez: Kaylee my darling it's good to see you
Kaylee: hi Mrs and Mr Hernandez
Mrs Hernandez: please Camilla and Hector
Kaylee: this is my cousin Freddie
They shook hands. Freddie was talking to Frankie and I stepped to the side with his parents
Kaylee: he told me
Camilla: yeah they found it a few weeks ago. It's gone to his lungs, pancreas and liver
Kaylee: so what now?
Hector: more chemo but he can't until he fights this infection
Maggie: Kaylee let's go get the cake

We went to get the cake and brought it back to the room.
Frankie: woah avengers cake
Hector: happy birthday kiddo
Camilla: your presents are at home. Auntie Eva is gonna bring them tomorrow
Hector: you kids want some cake?
Freddie: yes please but you can't tell Connor
Frankie: you're not allowed cake?
Freddie: no not really. I have this thing where it makes me really hyper and sugar makes it worse
Frankie: ah that must suck
Maggie: you got your insulin?
Freddie: no
Maggie: checked your levels?
Freddie: yeah?
Maggie: fred
Freddie: no
He checked and he was low and going lower
Freddie: oh I guess I need some cake
Hector cut us a slice
Kaylee: Frankie if you're up to it you wanna go take down some bad guys?
Frankie: I'm tired but can we build Lego?
Kaylee: course we can
Freddie: I'm gonna find connor
Kaylee: you sure?
Freddie: yeah
Frankie: you gonna come back?
Freddie: yeah gimme like 20 minutes
Freddie left
Hector: he okay?
Kaylee: this is quite emotional for him
Hector: someone close
Kaylee: his mom died when he was a kid. Brain cancer
Hector: poor kid
Frankie: Kaylee Lego
We were building Lego when I started feeling a bit weird.

Connor pov
I was doing a consult when Freddie ran
Connor: Fred what's going on?
He shook his head at me
Connor: talk to me Fred
Freddie: he's dying like mom did
Connor: I'm sorry Fred I didn't think
Freddie: I'm gonna sit in the breakroom
Connor: okay
Freddie left and Hector came to find me
Hector: somethings up with Kaylee
Connor: what do you mean?
Hector: she's just staring
We walked to Frankie's room
Frankie: Kaylee not wanna play Lego with me?
Connor: how you feeling kiddo?
Frankie: Kaylee not wanna play
Connor: remember when we talked about Kaylee's brain?
Frankie: yeah she has electric shocks that makes her body shake
Connor: yeah well sometimes it makes her stare like she's daydreaming
Kaylee came round and started building the Lego again
Connor: you okay?
Kaylee: mhm
Connor: you sure?
Kaylee: yeah
I was talking to Hector
Kaylee: you enjoying your birthday?
Frankie: it sucks that I'm here but yeah
Kaylees hand started twitching.
Connor: Kaylee you okay?
Kaylee: mhm
Connor: you're seizing right now. You don't feel weird out nothing?
Kaylee: got a bit of a headache
Hector: Frankie could do with some rest
Frankie: you gonna see me later?
Kaylee: course I will. We'll watch a movie? I have an iPad here
Frankie: Lion King?
Kaylee: sure
Kaylee stood up and was holding to the side of the bed
Connor: you okay?
Kaylee: mhm
I put my hand on her back helping her leave the room
Kaylee: weird
Connor: let's get you to a bed okay
We walked out of the room and we went to a free treatment room. We were in the corridor
Kaylee: h-help
Her body tensed and she stared convulsing.
Connor: somebody get Will!
I put my coat under her head and rolled her onto her side. Will came running over
Will: how long?
Connor: 3 minutes
Will: this the first?
Connor: no she had an absence and then her arm started twitching. I took her out of Frankie's room and here we are
The seizure stopped and she came around within 5 minutes.
Will: hey kiddo
Kaylee: hurts
Will: I know
We helped her up and put her into a treatment room. She fell asleep
Will: how's Frankie?
Connor: he's tired
Will: poor kid

Freddie pov
I went to find Kaylee and she was asleep. Connor and Will walked in
Freddie: seizure?
Will: 3
Connor: you okay?
Freddie: yeah I'm fine
Connor: I'm sorry I didn't think
Freddie: it's fine he's a sweet kid. Me and Kaylee are gonna see him later
Connor: anything from Calvin?
Freddie: he wants to take us out for dinner on Saturday
Connor: okay 5 okay?
Freddie: yeah he said anytime
Connor: how does the whole situation make you feel?
Freddie: I'm happy he's back but I feel like we've missed so much time
Connor: he'll still get to see you graduate, your games, upcoming birthdays
Freddie: I guess so
Kaylee: mmm
We turned around and she was waking up.
Connor: hey kiddo
Kaylee: 'm sorry
Connor: it's not your fault
Freddie: you wanna go see Frankie?
Kaylee: yeah bring iPad
I picked up the iPad and we went to Frankie's room. We put on our masks and sanitised our hands. I put on the lion king and we all fell asleep
