Day at the district

Kaylee's first day of suspension starts today so she's coming to the district with me.
Kaylee: Can't I stay home with Hailey?
Jay: she needs peace and quiet and she's not gonna get that with you here
Kaylee: rude much
Jay: go get ready please. We're leaving in 10 minutes
Kaylee: I'm ready
Jay: you slept in that. You can take one of my hoodies
Kaylee: I don't want one of your hoodies
Jay: well then wear one of yours
Kaylee: I don't want one of mine
Jay: then what do you want Kaylee?
Kaylee: I erm I don't know
Jay: Kev has a hoodie at the district now can we get ready.
Kaylee: get out then

I left the room and went downstairs
Hailey: she getting ready?
Jay: mhm
Hailey: hanks not gonna be too impressed with her
Jay: I know. He already said that he wants to talk to her
Hailey: that's probably gonna set her off
Jay: mhm which is gonna be fun
Hailey: can't you give her some of your meds?
Jay: no because she isn't diagnosed and my dose is quite high. Plus that's drugging a child
Hailey: fair enough. Trudy rang the other day. Hank said I can come back on desk duty
Jay: it's up to you
Kaylee came down
Kaylee: have you seen my headphones?
Hailey: your AirPods are in our room and your headphones are in the shed
Jay: why they in the shed?
Kaylee: I don't know
She went back upstairs and came down with her AirPods.
Jay: you ready?
She walked out the front door
Jay: I guess she's ready
I have hailey a kiss
Jay: I'll see you later. Get some rest
Hailey: mhm love you
Jay: love you too
I went out to the car and Kaylee got in putting her AirPods in. We made our way to the district
Jay: Kaylee
She didn't answer so I took an AirPod out
Kaylee: what?
Jay: you mad at me?
She took the AirPod and put it back in. I couldn't help but just sigh. We arrived at the district and Kaylee went off ahead

Kaylee pov
I went straight to grandpas office
Hank: we need to talk
Kaylee: hi to you too
Hank: you've been suspended
Kaylee: I know I was there
Hank: what happened?
Kaylee: Carl beat up Zach so I punched him in his stomach. Can you believe that psycho is my brother?
Hank: huh?
Kaylee: oh dad didn't tell you. Well I met 2 of my siblings yesterday. Carl who is a dick and Fiona who seems nice.
Hank: how'd you find that out?
Kaylee: well Fiona was called because obviously Carl got suspended as well. Her and dad recognised each other. Dad eventually told me. He says that Fiona wants to get to know me
Hank: and what do you want?
Kaylee: I don't know
Hank: no one is gonna make you do anything you don't wanna do
Kaylee: I know. I just need to think about it
Hank: you got any schoolwork?
Kaylee: I don't know. Probably somewhere
Hank: go ask your dad
Kaylee: can't I just chill?
Hank: nope. Just cause you're suspended doesn't mean you get out of schoolwork
Kaylee: you're so boring
Hank: go ask him
I got up and went to dads desk
Dad: work is in the breakroom. Miss Walker sent it onto the iPad so you can use that
Kaylee: whatever
Dad: Kaylee
Kaylee: leave me alone.

I went to the breakroom and Adam and Kev followed me and sat down.
Kaylee: do you mind? I have to get on with my work
Adam: you wanna tell us what's going on?
Kaylee: I'm about to do my work
Kev: we're not on about that and you know it
Adam: what's going on with you and your dad?
Kaylee: he's a lying piece of shit
Kev: what happened?
Kaylee: it's a long story
Adam: we got time. Start at the beginning
Kaylee: we this kid Carl started on me so Zach pushed him. Carl beat the shit out of him so I hit Carl. We were sat on the principal's office and Carl and his sister walked in. When dad saw her he tensed up. They recognised each other. They were both being weird. Dad wouldn't tell me anything. I asked Fiona and she just made up some bullshit. Monroe told me to leave. I went to Archie's office and just ranted to him. I was so pissed and I had a seizure. Dad woke me up but I was really off with him. He wanted me to talk to him but I refused. He told me about Fiona and Carl and how she wants to get to know but it'll be at my pace.
Kev: so what are you gonna do?
Kaylee: I don't know. I don't wanna know Carl. The kids a psycho
Kev: what about Fiona?
Kaylee: she seems nice
Adam: why you so mad at Jay?
Kaylee: he couldn't be straight with me
Adam started doing some of my work for me
Kaylee: if you're gonna do my work can you make it believable. Maybe write with your weak hand
Kev: so what's new with you?
Kaylee: I could have my 1st varsity game next month
Adam: could?
Kaylee: if I behave
Kev: that's cool
Adam: that's with the juniors and seniors right?
Kaylee: yeah
Kev: you that good huh?
Kaylee: you guys gonna come watch?
Kev: of course we are
Kaylee: you gotta get tickets. It's a big game

Jay pov
I walked into the breakroom and Kev and Adam were talking to Kaylee
Jay: can you leave her to do her work?
Kaylee: I have been doing my work
Jay: then finish it
Kaylee: you finish it
Jay: you hear how childish you sound
Me and the guys walked out and into the bullpen. We were getting on with the paperwork
Adam: can you get tickets to Kaylees basketball game?
Jay: what game?
Kev: next month
Jay: she hasn't got a game
They both looked at each other.
Kaylee walked out of the breakroom
Kaylee: Adam can I get 5 bucks?
He gave her some money
Jay: you have a basketball game next month?
Kaylee: mhm
Jay: why didn't you tell me?
Kaylee: oh I thought that's what we were doing now
Jay: Kaylee
She left and Adam looked at me
Adam: she'll come around.
She came back up and went back to the breakroom. I went after her
Kaylee: what?
Jay: can we talk?
Kaylee: I didn't think we were doing that anymore?
Jay: Kaylee please talk to me. Why you being like this?
Kaylee: because you hurt me. You couldn't be straight up with me
Jay: and I'm sorry. It's just I thought I was protecting you
Kaylee: protecting me from what?
Jay: from getting hurt.
Kaylee: how?
Jay: Monica sees them sometimes
Kaylee: and?
Jay: I don't want you to get upset
Kaylee: why would I get upset? I have a mom. I don't need Monica
Jay: sometimes I forget you're not a little girl anymore. We good?
Kaylee: mhm
I gave her a hug
Jay: you need any help with your work?
Kaylee: nah I actually know what I'm doing for this and Adam helped me with my English work.
Jay: you wanna take a break and get a milkshake?
Kaylee: okay
