This story somehow follows the plot of the Titanic movie, but I changed the end.
In the grand and opulent year of 1912, the world witnessed the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic, the largest and most luxurious ship ever built. Among its distinguished passengers was Hope Mikaelson, a young woman of high society, engaged to the wealthy and ambitious Landon Kirby. Though Landon was kind and well-intentioned, Hope felt a profound emptiness in her life, longing for something more than the constraints of her privileged world.
As the ship set sail, Hope found herself wandering the upper deck, her thoughts a whirlwind of uncertainty and longing. She contemplated her future with Landon, a man she respected but did not love. Just as she leaned against the railing, lost in thought, she heard laughter from the lower decks. It was a sound so full of life that it drew her in like a magnet.
On the lower decks, Josie Saltzman was sketching the lively scenes around her. Her eyes sparkled with excitement at every sight, and her hands moved deftly across her sketchpad. She looked up and noticed a young woman from the upper decks standing alone, gazing wistfully at the sea.
Curiosity piqued, Josie approached. "Are you all right?" she asked gently.
Hope turned, startled to see a girl her age with such a warm and genuine smile. "I... I'm fine," she stammered, though it was clear she wasn't.
"Mind if I join you?" Josie asked, her eyes full of empathy.
Hope nodded, and Josie leaned against the railing beside her. "It's a beautiful night," Josie said, breaking the silence.
"Yes, it is," Hope replied, her voice soft. "But it feels like something's missing."
Josie tilted her head, studying Hope's face. "Maybe you're looking for something you can't find up here. There's a whole world down there," she said, gesturing towards the lower decks. "Would you like to see it?"
Hope hesitated, glancing back at the grand staircase where Landon and her mother would expect her to be. But something in Josie's eyes promised an escape, even if only for a while. "Lead the way," she said, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips.
Josie took her hand, and they descended into the heart of the ship. The lower decks were alive with music and laughter. People danced, played cards, and shared stories. Hope's eyes widened at the sight—this was a world so different from the one she knew.
"Do you dance?" Josie asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Hope shook her head, laughing. "Not like this."
"Then I'll teach you," Josie said, pulling her into the makeshift dance floor.
They twirled and laughed, Hope's initial awkwardness melting away under Josie's guidance. The music, the joy, and the spontaneity of it all were intoxicating. For the first time in a long while, Hope felt truly free.
As the night wore on, Josie and Hope found a quiet corner to talk. Josie showed Hope her sketches, each one capturing the essence of the people and places she'd seen.
"You're so talented," Hope said, admiring the drawings.
"Thanks," Josie replied, blushing slightly. "It's my dream to travel the world and capture its beauty."
Hope sighed. "I wish I could have dreams like that. But I'm expected to marry Landon and follow the path my family set for me."
Josie took Hope's hand in hers. "What do you want, Hope? Not your family, not Landon. You."
Hope looked down, tears welling up in her eyes. "I don't know," she whispered. "I've never been given the chance to find out."
"You deserve that chance," Josie said firmly. "You deserve to follow your heart, wherever it leads."
