Hope Mikaelson had never been one to doubt herself. Whether it was in combat or spellcasting, she always had a sense of confidence that came with being the tribrid. But when it came to Josie Saltzman, her best friend, that confidence seemed to evaporate like morning mist.

The arrival of a new student, Finch, had thrown Hope's emotions into turmoil. Finch was confident, charismatic, and had a smile that seemed to light up the room. And she seemed particularly interested in Josie, something that Hope noticed immediately.

It started with casual conversations between Finch and Josie in the hallways, then study sessions that turned into laughing fits in the library. Hope found herself growing increasingly irritable, unable to focus on anything but the sight of Finch and Josie together. It was as if a knot of anxiety had taken root in her chest, tightening every time she saw them.

One day, Hope entered the library, planning to find a quiet corner to work on a potion assignment. As she rounded the corner to her usual spot, she stopped short. There, at the table, sat Finch and Josie. Finch was leaning close to Josie, whispering something that made Josie laugh, the sound filling the room with warmth.

Hope felt her stomach twist.

"Hey, Hope!" Josie called out, noticing her presence. "Come join us! Finch was just telling me about—"

"I actually have to go," Hope blurted out, cutting Josie off. Her voice came out sharper than she intended. "I just remembered I need to, um, help Lizzie with something."

Josie's smile faltered slightly, concern flickering in her eyes. "Oh, okay. Maybe later then?"

"Yeah, maybe," Hope muttered, turning on her heel and walking away as fast as she could without running.

As she exited the library, she cursed herself for the way she had acted. What was wrong with her? She had never felt this way before, this out of control. It was as if every time she saw Finch and Josie together, something inside her snapped.

She tried to push the feelings down, telling herself it was just because Josie was her best friend, and she didn't want anyone coming between them. But deep down, she knew it was more than that.

The next few days were a blur of awkward encounters. Hope found herself avoiding Josie and Finch, not trusting herself to be around them without her emotions bubbling over. She threw herself into training, hoping the physical exertion would drown out the jealousy gnawing at her insides.

But it didn't work.

One afternoon, Hope was walking down the hallway when she spotted Josie and Finch standing by Josie's locker. Finch was leaning against the wall, her arm casually draped over the locker door as she spoke to Josie. Whatever she was saying made Josie blush and look down, a shy smile playing on her lips.

Hope's heart clenched. Before she could stop herself, she marched over to them, her hands balled into fists at her sides.

"Josie," she said, trying to keep her voice steady, "can I talk to you for a second?"

Josie looked up, surprised. "Sure, Hope. What's up?"

Hope glanced at Finch, who raised an eyebrow but didn't move. The air between them was thick with unspoken tension.

"In private," Hope added, her eyes locked on Josie's.

"Uh, okay." Josie looked confused but nodded, turning to Finch. "I'll catch up with you later?"

"Yeah, sure," Finch replied, her gaze flicking between Hope and Josie with mild curiosity. "See you around, Josie."

As Finch walked away, Hope felt a surge of satisfaction, quickly followed by guilt. She shouldn't have interrupted like that. But she needed to talk to Josie—needed to get these feelings off her chest before they consumed her.

Hope led Josie to an empty classroom, closing the door behind them. She paced back and forth, trying to find the right words, but everything she wanted to say seemed stuck in her throat.

"Hope, what's going on?" Josie asked, concern lacing her voice. "You've been acting really weird lately."

"I know, I'm sorry," Hope said, running a hand through her hair in frustration. "It's just... I don't know how to say this."

Josie stepped closer, her eyes soft and understanding. "You can tell me anything, you know that."

Hope stopped pacing and turned to face her, taking a deep breath. "I've been jealous, Josie. Really, really jealous."

Josie blinked, clearly taken aback. "Jealous? Of what?"

Hope hesitated, then forced herself to meet Josie's gaze. "Of you and Finch. Every time I see you two together, it feels like I'm going to lose you."

"Lose me?" Josie echoed, confusion written all over her face. "Hope, you're not going to lose me. Finch is just... she's just a friend."

"I know that," Hope said quickly, though her voice betrayed her uncertainty. "It's just... you mean so much to me, Josie. More than anyone else. And the thought of someone else getting close to you like that... it drives me crazy."

Josie's eyes widened slightly, and she took a step closer to Hope. "Hope, are you saying...?"

Hope swallowed hard, the words finally slipping past her defenses. "I think I'm in love with you, Josie. No, I know I'm in love with you. And I'm sorry if this makes things awkward between us, but I can't keep pretending that I'm okay with just being your friend. Because I'm not. I want more."

For a moment, Josie just stared at her, as if processing what Hope had said. Then, to Hope's surprise, a slow smile spread across Josie's face.

"Hope... I've been waiting for you to say that," Josie said softly, her voice filled with warmth. "I've been in love with you for so long, but I didn't think you felt the same way. And then when Finch showed up, I thought maybe you'd never see me that way."

Hope's heart skipped a beat. "You... you love me?"

"Yes," Josie replied, her smile growing wider. "I love you, Hope Mikaelson. And I always have."

Relief and joy flooded through Hope, washing away the jealousy and fear that had been plaguing her. Without thinking, she closed the distance between them, cupping Josie's face in her hands and pressing their lips together in a gentle, yet passionate kiss.

Josie responded immediately, wrapping her arms around Hope's neck and pulling her closer. The kiss was everything Hope had ever dreamed of—soft, sweet, and filled with the unspoken love that had been between them for so long.

When they finally pulled apart, they were both breathless, but the smiles on their faces were identical.

"So... what now?" Josie asked, her forehead resting against Hope's.

"Now," Hope said, her voice filled with certainty, "we figure out how to do this. Together."

Josie nodded, her eyes shining with happiness. "Together."

As they stood there, holding each other close, Hope knew that whatever challenges they faced in the future, they would face them together. Because finally, they had found each other, and nothing else mattered.

Not even Finch.
