The night air was cool and crisp as Hope and Josie quietly slipped out of the Salvatore School grounds. They had planned this escape carefully, knowing that a meteor shower was due to light up the sky. For once, the world seemed still, the usual chaos of supernatural creatures and teenage drama fading into the background.

They found a secluded spot near a tranquil lake, far enough from the school to escape detection but close enough to feel its protective presence. The stars above shimmered brightly, promising a spectacular show. Hope spread out a blanket on the soft grass, and they lay down side by side, their shoulders barely touching.

Josie glanced sideways at Hope, her heart pounding with a mix of nerves and excitement.
"I can't believe we actually made it out here."
Hope chuckled softly, her gaze fixed on the heavens. "Sometimes, a little rebellion is good for the soul."

They fell into a comfortable silence, watching as the first streaks of meteors painted trails of light across the sky. The beauty of the moment was almost overwhelming, and for a while, they simply drank it in, lost in the wonder of the universe.

Josie breaks the silence between them.
"Look at the sky, Hope. It's beautiful."

Hope doesn't look up and just continues to stare at Josie with love in her eyes, the gentle light from the meteors casting a soft glow on her features. "Yeah...incredible beautiful."

Josie glanced at Hope, noticing the tenderness in her eyes as she looked at her. She felt a flutter of nerves in her stomach, unsure whether to interpret the depth of Hope's gaze as something more than mere appreciation for the night sky.

As if sensing Josie's unspoken question, Hope spoke softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "You know, I used to come out here alone sometimes. When I couldn't sleep, or when my mind was too full of... everything."

Josie turned onto her side, facing Hope fully now, her expression a mixture of curiosity and concern. "What do you mean?"

Hope hesitated, her gaze returning to the stars. "Being a Mikaelson comes with a lot of expectations. People see the name and assume they know who I am, what I'm capable of. But sometimes... sometimes I just want to be me, you know? Not the legacy."

Josie reached out, her hand finding Hope's and intertwining their fingers. "I get that, Hope. Sometimes I feel the weight of the Saltzman name too, especially with everything that's happened."

Hope squeezed Josie's hand gratefully, drawing comfort from the simple touch. "You've handled everything with such grace, Josie. Even when things were at their darkest."

Josie smiled softly, a blush creeping onto her cheeks. "I've had good influences."

Hope's heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in Josie's words. She turned to face Josie fully, their faces inches apart. "You know, you're incredible, Josie Saltzman."

Josie's breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. "Hope..."

Hope leaned in slowly, her lips brushing against Josie's in a feather-light kiss. It was tentative, a silent question seeking permission and affirmation. Josie responded instinctively, deepening the kiss as she wrapped her arms around Hope, pulling her closer.

They pull away after air becomes necessary.
I... I have feelings for you, Josie," Hope confessed, her voice trembling with raw emotion. "More than just friendship."

Josie's breath caught in her throat, her heart soaring with a mix of joy and relief. She reached up, brushing a strand of hair behind Hope's ear. "Hope, I've been waiting for you to say that."

Hope's lips curved into a tentative smile, her hand finding Josie's cheek. "I was afraid... afraid of ruining what we have."

Josie shook her head gently. "You could never ruin anything, Hope. You only make everything better."

They leaned in simultaneously, their lips meeting again in a kiss that felt like the culmination of years of unspoken longing and unacknowledged feelings. It was tender and gentle, filled with the promise of everything they had yet to explore together.

The night seemed to hold its breath around them, the meteor shower continuing its celestial display overhead. Each meteor seemed to echo the intensity of their emotions, illuminating the path forward as they explored the uncharted territory of their feelings for each other.

When they finally pulled back, they rested their foreheads together, their breaths mingling in the cool night air. Hope traced gentle circles on Josie's back with her fingertips, her voice a soft murmur in the quiet of the night.

"I never thought... I never allowed myself to imagine..."

Josie smiled, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears of joy. "Me neither, Hope. But I'm glad we're here, together."

They lay entwined under the blanket of stars, their fingers laced together as they watched the meteor shower continue its celestial dance. In that moment, they knew that their journey together had only just begun, and the universe, with all its mysteries and wonders, seemed to whisper its approval overhead.
