Hope Mikaelson had never been more nervous in her life. She'd faced down ancient evils, saved the world more times than she could count, but this—this was different. As she carefully placed the final touches on the setup in the clearing by the lake, her heart raced with anticipation. Tonight, she would ask Josie Saltzman the most important question of her life.

She'd chosen this spot because it held so many memories for them—first dates, late-night talks, and the moment they first confessed their love. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow over the water. The candles she had carefully placed around the area flickered gently in the breeze, creating an intimate and romantic atmosphere.

Hope glanced at the ring box in her pocket, her fingers brushing over the smooth velvet. It was a simple but elegant ring, exactly what she knew Josie would love. She had been planning this for weeks, making sure everything was perfect.

What she didn't know was that Josie had also been planning.

Earlier that day, Josie had been tidying up their shared space when she accidentally stumbled upon something unexpected. Tucked away in one of Hope's jacket pockets, she found a small velvet box. Her heart skipped a beat as she realized what it was.

She opened the box carefully and saw the beautiful ring nestled inside. A surge of emotions washed over her—love, excitement, but also a touch of anxiety. She had been planning to propose to Hope that same evening, and the ring she'd chosen for her was hidden away in her own pocket.

Josie couldn't help but smile at the situation. Of course, they would end up proposing to each other on the same day. It was just like them—so perfectly in sync. But now, with the surprise element gone, she wondered how she should handle the situation.

As the sun dipped lower, Hope anxiously paced around the clearing. She was about to call Josie to check where she was when she saw her approaching. Josie's smile was radiant, but there was something in her eyes—something that told Hope she knew.

"Hey, you," Hope greeted her, trying to keep her voice steady.

"Hey yourself," Josie replied, wrapping her arms around Hope in a warm embrace. They stood there for a moment, just holding each other, feeling the steady thrum of their hearts in perfect rhythm.

Hope pulled back slightly, looking into Josie's eyes. "There's something I want to ask you," she began, her voice soft but serious.

Josie's eyes sparkled with mischief as she reached into her pocket. "Actually, I have something to ask you too."

Hope blinked in surprise as Josie pulled out a ring box of her own. For a moment, they both just stared at each other, realizing what was happening.

"You found the ring, didn't you?" Hope asked with a grin.

Josie nodded sheepishly. "Yeah, I did. But then I realized that I was planning to do the same thing."

They both burst into laughter, the tension of the moment melting away into something far more beautiful—a shared moment of pure love and connection.

Hope was the first to regain her composure. "Okay, how do we do this?"

"Together," Josie suggested. She took Hope's hand and led her to the center of the clearing, where the soft glow of candles illuminated their faces.

They both knelt down on one knee simultaneously, holding out their rings to each other. For a moment, neither of them spoke, just letting the love they felt fill the silence between them.

Finally, Hope broke the silence. "Josie Saltzman, you've made me the happiest I've ever been. You've shown me what it means to be truly loved, and I want to spend the rest of my life showing you the same. Will you marry me?"

Josie's eyes were shining with tears, but her smile was bright as she responded. "Hope Mikaelson, you're my everything. You've been my rock, my light, and my best friend. I can't imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?"

They both laughed again, tears of joy streaming down their faces as they realized they had asked the exact same question. Without hesitation, they both said "Yes" at the same time, their voices blending together in perfect harmony.

They slipped the rings onto each other's fingers, the metal cool against their skin, but the warmth of their love overshadowed everything else. Standing up, they pulled each other into a deep, loving kiss, the world around them fading away as they celebrated this moment.

When they finally pulled back, still holding each other close, Josie looked around at the beautifully decorated clearing and smiled. "You really went all out, didn't you?"

Hope chuckled. "Only the best for you. But you didn't let me surprise you properly."

Josie shrugged, leaning her head against Hope's shoulder. "We've never been ones for ordinary, have we? I love that we both had the same idea. It just shows how perfect we are together."

Hope kissed the top of Josie's head, feeling her heart swell with love. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

They spent the rest of the evening sitting together by the lake, enjoying the quiet sounds of nature and the warmth of each other's presence. It wasn't the proposal either of them had originally planned, but it was perfect in its own way—just like their love.
